I also installed the irp shifter. Now I got a question. Is it normal, that the shifter makes rattling noises over 3k RPM? It's so freaking loud 🤣 Just wondering if I only have the issue..
are you supposed to keep the pin in the turret installed? on mine, i noticed the pin gets in the way of shifting into 2/4/R. I had it removed. Though I'm not sure if the resulting hole is sealed by the shifter itself.
It was impossible for me to move these two pins (NB) when the old shifter was removed. It felt like they are not movable at all. Do you know if they are on the NB and do you have any tip how to make them move? I tried pliers and hammering. Ty
Hi Martin, check out our instructions for our shifter rebuild kits and it will show you how we did it: 5xracing.com/files/Instructions%20and%20Guides/nb-shifter-rebuild-kit-instructions.pdf
Thank you! With larger pliers and more force (the help of my neighbor) we managed to get it to move. The tip to use a nut once it's even on the outside was great!
How strong is the centering spring on this shifter? I am having issues shifting from 2-3 at high rpm I know solid diff mounts and engine mounts will solve this issue but will this shifter solve the issue also
Most of the centering force will be from the change mechanism in the transmission. You might wanna look into your trans as the main source of that issue. The centering force on the shifter is above stock though
The professionally done graph at the end made it 😂

I just installed this in my nb miata and for some reason 3rd and 5th gear either pop out or won’t go in. Any ideas as to why?
Care to show a link to this shifter. I can’t find it
If you search for irp Miata short shifter you should find it
for the pin you're pushing against in 2:00 is it necessary to push it in all the way? anyone know ?
Imma get one eventually. But in red

How is the shifter adjustable?
The throws are not adjustable, just the throw stops. This is to avoid overpowering the change mechanisms
Can some one tell me where to buy it
Does this shifter have a reverse lockout? Looks like its doable.
The transmission has an internal one, so the shifter does not. (unless we got your question wrong)
Will this fit RX7?
I was wondering the same myself, it might work it looks like there's a plastic bushing and I think it could be filed down and made to fit...
Is there any 6speed version?
Not yet, but I believe one is in their (IRP) plans
Great video!
