reallly?! truthfully i checked out your channel based on how well your profile pic was and im flattered that a flute player with a 144k in subs is interested in what im teaching! Thats pretty badass!
Thank you for this video!👍🏻 Weird thing is that I got a 4' Double Rainbow unit a while ago but had spotted some serious problems with its abnormally weak blue channel in RGB mode, which caused -- 1) its pure blue looking a lot more violet than any other RGB fixture's pure blue (including Quasar Science's own original rainbow line) 2) its cyan preset looking far more bluish-green than greenish-blue (or something in the middle) since the light's green channel is so much stronger than its blue channel (more than 3 stops brighter), which wasn't a problem with the original Quasar rainbow tube's cyan preset. 3) very noticeably ungradual stepping in its overall brightness (or even flicker-like) when displaying rainbow pixel effect in 48 pixel groups (as opposed to my other pixel tube fixtures' rainbow effect that can transition into/out from blue a lot more smoothly), although the issue is slightly less visible after lowering the number of its pixel groups. 4) just the nearly unusable level of dimness in its blue channel in general, cuz I don't see a point in using this "100w" tube for blue light when it can be almost overpowered by two 5w Aputure MC's or easily overpowered by one 40w Aputure T4c tube's blue light. I first thought that I simply got a faulty unit, but after spotting the exact same problems in the subsequent two replacement units from Quasar Science as well as in the demo unit at my local film gear retailer I've come to believe that it's actually a common problem with this whole product line, despite how perfect every reviewer I've seen on RUclips claims it to be. So I'm just wondering if you happen to also experience the same issues with your units or if you think I'm just looking at it wrong?🤔🤗
Wonder if that may be due to a chipset that wasn’t available yet or something, no I think you’re looking at it right, these were honestly things I wasn’t fully looking into. Then again I excel more in the grip world. I’ll have to take a look next time I have it burning. Some good info there man. I appreciate it
@@GripTips Thanks a lot man!🙌🏼 Would love to know if you have any new findings about the light👍🏻 after so many phone calls & emails with their tech support leading to almost nowhere I'm seriously considering visiting their location in LA & find out just how common these problems are with their new rainbow line.😂
He's back! He's Back! Great to see you are posting gear reviews again. Love how in depth you get on these reviews. How do these compare to the new Aputure INFINIBAR?
Quasar Science??? Sounds scary, like it's from outer space aliens! I'm gonna have to watch this one on mute, with my monitor turned off! Seriously, there look to be a lot of great features on the light - maybe paying for some you'd never use - like all those mounting holes on the back. Until tube lights come up with some real brightness, they're just a novelty, to me. The light fixture looks good, and I like the rubber pieces on the ends. AC/DC is a must, as I'm sure YOU would agree. hehe
That connector looks like just a locking barrel connector. You don't show the end of the connector and they don't list the type online in product info, but it looks like a barrel connector, some of which just come with a locking screw collar, I've never heard a special name for these other than simply locking barrel.
Good review, unfortunately for QS in Europe, Astera have knocked them out of the ballpark! The only thing I'd say about this fixture over an Astera is that it makes for a better looking practical light in shot. Keep the videos coming mate.💪
Yea, it’s the same here but that d-tap connector, certainly makes it a valid contender. I forget how long the asteras go for. Isn’t it like 8hrs at half power or some shizzzz?
@@GripTips Astera have brought out what they call the "Runtime extender." It's a Vmount or Goldmount adaptor that you plug directly in to the tube. Also the Asteras can be programmed to run up to 20 hours, (not at full power), which gives you a lot of peace of mind.
can't wait for episode 100!!!
