  • Liverwort heaths are among the few habitats in the world that are dominated and truly defined by
liverwort species. The disjunct distribution of both habitat and species makes it even more
alluring. Within the field of conservation biology, only a small group of people have adequate
expertise and knowledge of bryology to recognise the importance and uniqueness of European
hepatic heaths. It is very important to share experiences from the countries in which these
communites occur and establish a network of contacts to enable further understanding of these
communities. It is particularly important for Sweden, where they were only recently discovered
    and still poorly characterised.
In part 3 John Bjorne Jordal presents the hepatic heaths of Norway. John is a biologist working with species and habitat surveys at the environmental consultancy company Miljøfaglig Utredning in Norway. His interest include several groups of organisms, including oceanic bryophytes.
We thank Mossornas vänner, Svenska botaniska föreningen, Moseklubben and British Bryological Society for their contributions to organising and distributing this webinar.
