    You've all been asking for this for a long time and I finally got round to it. I think this is something I should probably do every 3 months because things change so fast....like none of this existed 3 months ago and I was still in the shed in my garden haha. Anyway, this took a long time to make so I hope you all enjoy it :)

    5:17 The light switch looks like an excited smiley face, listening to you as well!
    By the way, another way to tell if Timmy is male: His belly is a little hollow. Males tend to have this, for it is easier to mate (fits better around the female's shell). The more you know!!
    Love every single aquarium you have.

    • @AnnekeRaeymaekers
      @AnnekeRaeymaekers 3 года назад

      Is he a Sternotherus odoratus? But unless I cannot get the scale right, Timmy will still grow. Even the smallest turtle species grows to be 10 cm (4inch). They shouldn't be kept in a tank smaller then 100L (30gallons) as an adult. And I hope the light above it has UVB. Indoor turtle need it. I'm new to this channel, so I will definitely watch Timmy's tank being setup next!

    Hi, I’d like to propose an idea for one of your next projects / video contents: Create an aquascape (with or without plants) for Oscar fishes. 🐟
    I guess that would be quite a challenge but certainly an interesting video to watch and follow up. Especially if you manage to create a tank with some plants or if you find any other way to create an "eye-appealing underwater world” that’s not gonna be destroyed by these fishes. Cheers!

  • @davetreacy7610
    @davetreacy7610 3 года назад

    Hey MD. All looking great fella. On the Betta tank that has the Green dust algae, I had an issue with that that came down to fluctuating CO2 levels - all sorted now. Taken from Green Aqua anyhow here's their take on it
    It is mainly caused by low CO2 levels and low nutrients. More frequently seen in new aquariums. Algae Scrapers are not a solution as the cells removed from the glass and floating in the water will stick to hard surfaces again after some time. Addressing the symptoms: You will need to let these algae grow without disturbance for 10-20 days! It will form a thick green layer that can be removed (sucked out) in big chunks, and if the root cause is addressed, it will not return later.

    I struggled with cyano bacteria too and we did a darkness cure (Dunkelkur in german) where you block the whole aquarium from light for 10 days. Filter running, minor to no feeding and it really helped, never had the problem again.

    I have the same problems with greenfly in my greenhouse! Since I grow vegetables I don't like using pesticides, though soapy water is fine for plants it wouldn't be for your fish, but you can make a natural insecticide using orange peels. I don't think orange peels would harm fish but they definitely kill off greenfly. The other one you could try is getting some potted nasturtiums or marigolds. Both are easy to grow and the greenfly hate them! Do be careful where you put the nasturtiums though. They grow like literal weeds! Both plants have edible flowers too.

    34:10 stripes that go along a the bettas body are indeed stress stripes. it can also be when they are very young but they look old enough that they shouldn't have stripes anymore.
    I have 7 years experience keeping bettas and have spawned betta 2 times and raised up the fry. they usually tend to keep these stripes until they are about 2 to 4 months old depending on individual fish.
    once they are older they go away unless they are unhappy in an environment. eg being chased around alot by the other fish or if the betta is unwell.
    whoever said dominance stripes does not know what they are talking about, that is not a real thing.
    I would say for now just keep an eye out and monitor if the fish with stripes are being chased. good luck!! 😊

    Timmy looks like a Timmet. He or she is probably small because of the macros provided. Turtles need to eat constantly except for in winter time. But for timmy, they're probably isn't a winter time. Lol. When he or she gets larger, you'll be able to tell from the tail as you pointed out in the video. If it's a male the tail will be quite a bit longer and the hole will be in the middle. For females the tail is shorter and the hole is closer to the base of the plastron.

    even though the pearlweed is thick and healthy, it has unbalanced your Asian tank's design. I'd trim and pull out a lot of the weed grown over the sanded areas so you can enjoy the original elements more. Love your designs in general.
    You may try just hose sprsaying the aphids off the plants into the tank as they would be good eating for your fish.

    Great videos! What filter would you recommend, or do your prefer, for smaller tanks?

    U can use a syringe with flourish excel on the siscus tank directly over the cyanobacteria.

    I feel like sometimes you over plant the tank and not give enough swimming space for the fish, the Ember tetra tank is a great example as they all just hang around in one spot every day but they are supposed to be active swimmers like in my tank they swim everywhere and school.. I hope this doesn't offend you it's just my opinion ps: love ur vids👌😉

    I had the powdery green stuff in a tank for a long long time. It just went away on its own. Now I miss it. And YESSS!! INDIAN TANK!!

    What is Timmy's tank on? Is it on a table or a cabinet? I'm getting the same tank and I'm struggling to find something that will hold the weight.

    A dusting of wood ash will kill most aphid type beasties and its mostly carbon, (charcoal) you need to be sure its from firewood and not lumber that may have been treated, I use it in my garden and it has the bonus of being good for plants, just mist affected plants, dust them with ash, and mist plants clean in a few hours.

    I really would like to see you try and build a competition tank for IAPLC. You've definitely got the artistic vision and the idea of nature - just not the patience!!!

    Suggestion: Get a couple of lady bugs or lacewings from the garden. They'll eat most of the aphids

    I left you a link for the cyano? It is probably in your "held for review" Ultra Life, Blue Green Slime Remover. Works like magic, and mine was 10x worst then yours. Never saw it again.
