How To: Huge Aqua Terrarium / Paludarium / Planted Tank: Rehoming Pancho My Axolotl
Hi MD'ers. Welcome back. I've spent a long time on this one so I hope you appreciate it. If you do, be sure to hit the like, subscribe and share button and leave a comment below to let me know if you have.
I want as many people to see this as possible so everyone can see how easy it is to do. And with the equipment i use, It's not even too much cost.
Many people said that Pancho would outgrow his previous tank fast...so I got hold of this awesome tank as soon as possible.

I live in Puerto Rico and when I saw you constructing that aquascape I was amazed at the similarity to the rivers and creeds we have here. So beautifully made. Congratulations on such a fine piece of art work.
I love how you share your hobby with your kids they seem very enthusiastic
Yeah they seem to like the idea of being on youtube more than the tanks haha

The most stunning fish tank I will ever see in my life. This is amazing I’ve gotten so much inspiration x
Not to take anything away from this tank, but its fairly easy when you're spending that much money.
Axolotl definitely do eat gravel. I haven’t watched the whole video yet to be honest, but make sure to keep the water nice and cool for your axolotl. Also keep an eye out to make sure the danios aren’t messing with your axolotl.
he said the fish are axolotl safe
@@quinnplaysguitar no fish are axolotl safe they are either food or a choking hazard....
@@keelyfontaine2818 Them being food is fine, don't you think? + they are quick enough to evade those poor hunters lol
@@thijsversantvoort its because there quick thats the issue i love danios and have a tank dedicated to just danios but they can be serious nippers... i also rescue axies and have seen more than few with gils mutilated from all different fish...plecos are horrific when it come to axies they suck the slime coat and gils rights off... some will argue they regenerate so its ok but it really isnt they can only regenerate a certain amount of times before they just stop doing it....i love this guys videos and it is a beautiful scape just be safer for the axi as a species only set up.
@@keelyfontaine2818 I agree with you, definitely on placo's. Minnows are safe for sure, but apparently danios are not? I'm not that experienced so I believe you. Only had guppies and shrimp with my axies. Guppies were no problem towards axies, but require higher temperatures so decided to move them to another tank.
Shrimp are totally fine of course :)
It's not my paludarium, but I feel so happy seeing this, as if was mine. Congratulations for the big effort. It's a gorgeous piece of work!

"The water travels through mosses" is a quick statement i will remember forever!
Brilliant, one of the best I've seen from you, very informative, thank you.
No problem. A lot of effort went in but all played off I think.
I have the distinct feeling you have created a bit of a revolution in the aquascaping world! Another fantastic tank!
Beautiful, awesome. I just rescaped two nano tanks inspired by you. I like the way you make it fun to try, and not get overwhelmed by all the "rules" on the internet. Thanks a lot.
No problem. That's my goal :)
It looks so wonderful natural. I love how the water flows through the moss. Really appreciate you take the moss from nature to create with it a new ecosystem. Nice idea and implementation with the perforated tube! Pancho lives now the axolotl dream!
I hope he loves it 😊
that would be a great frog tank
What a great scape, looks so mature from the off, I love the waterfall effect. Congrats to you too, you’ve definitely grown in confidence in front of the camera these days! 👍
Thanks. Yeah just keeping it real to be honest.
This would be a pretty cool frog paluradium (if the frog is mainly aquatic)
hmmmm...definitely something to think about. nice idea!

Lol that’s what I thought
Like a African dwarf frog ... this would be a mega aquarium for them lol
The real focal point of this episode is your child 😍 cutest little human I’ve ever seen 😂
I always see a young king of diy in him in the sense that Joey too started small and then made the gallery and now he is at 2 million subs almost...love watching these vids you will surely blow up on the internet soon ...All the best
This is absolutely beautiful. You always do a lot of stunning builds but this is my favorite. Everything from poncho himself to all the attention you put into everything else. Really beautiful work
The fact that you put effort into your video makes you the best
Definitely my favorite tank I've seen on your page, and that says alot because I watch at least 4 of your videos daily! Many I watch more than once. Love the axolotl!!
Your a treasure to the aquascaping and aquarium hobby, keep doing what your doing.
Thank you. I love it :)
"Oh, bless him!" immediate sub 😭❤
Beautiful scape. I knew it was for Pancho. Congratulations
Thank you :)
Beautiful aquascape...you've inspired me to create many indoor "gardens" that we can love and enjoy year round! Thank you for sharing!
Amazing. Love how relaxed you are about it all. You’re like my therapy for being too uptight. 😂. Fantastic video and amazing results.
Absolutely love that you get hardscape material and some planting materials from around you area! Love your resourcefulness a innovation truly inspiring! 🤘
Its surprising what you can find all around you. Some materials you HAVE to buy. Some you dont.
Turned out fantastic! I want to revamp my outdoor patio pond with more plants next year, the easiest/quickest way I've found to remove soil from plants is in a bucket of water, just swish around, comes right off.
Yes I've done that before...problem is, I found it removed too much of the soil.
My lil heart was so excited for you! Your boys just add to the joy of watching this. It looks so stunning and im sssssssoh jealous. Keep up great work 😃
While I watched, I thought about all the places I could gather moss! Gotta have a setup like this. Thanks for the video.
It looks awesome but Axolotl should not be with fish, especially large ones. As a breeder I'll only use a few fry-like size fish to control detritus etc from the tank.
For what reason?
They can sometimes pick at the Axolotls gills which are delicate, you should have small fast swimmers, maybe some snails etc.
I 100% agree it isn't going to instantly lead to any issues but over a period of time it will ultimately lead to the axolotls demise.
6 year old me had a black axolotl and some bigger fish. That asshole ate all of the fish but didn’t eat his axolotl food
In a tank that size it’s fine. You think axolotls evolved in fish free ponds and lakes?
cannot believe the amount of work that goes into this. Well done!
This looks so awesome. I keep going back to this video. You should start offering doing Aquascapes for others for money. You are so talented!
A real signature MD Fish Tank Aquascape 😊 I love it, especially the two types of moss are beautiful.
I absolutely love seeing your aquariums
I wish I had aquarium plants in my country
no aqua plants ? which country ?
Amazing aquarium/terrarium my friend, well done. Also thanks for identifying all the plants as you go along, makes it so much nicer to understand and make notes. I’m going to set up a system in the new year. God bless and greetings from Cumbria, UK.
That is beautiful Marc! Well done.
If you ever have the inclination, please shoot a looong high-res static video of a favourite scape to share with us. I travel too much to be able to look after a tank properly and would love to have this play on my tv in the background while I work, write & read. Happy to pay for it. Love nature ❤️ thanks for sharing your love with us : )
Awesome and informative vid! You and Serpa have been invaluable in so many of my own aquas and terras just about to start my first pala and cannot wait to see how it turns out!

That looks like a fantastic scape, good work and nice idea of collecting your own terrestrial moss.
Now, that is a delivery! And another masterpiece. Congratulations. Cute helpers too. I think this may be my favourite of yours, and I believe that you will change my mind once more in the future.
That's an amazing tank! You did a great job :)

I love watching your builds as I learn. Thank you for including links for the various equipment and supplies!
Of course he includes the links you 🤡. He makes money off of you when you buy from those links, they are referral and affiliate links 😂😂. Did you think he was doing it out of the goodness of his heart? 😂😂😂
Hi MD, so now along with George from Coral 12g you are my son's favourite (he's 5). He absolutely loves Pancho and loves his name too, says it sounds a bit rock n roll. He's still not quite sure what an axolotl is but he likes it. By the way, having a 5 year old is why I think your kids are brilliant, Henry's little interruptions have me in tears of laughter hahaha!
Great work.. the way you handled this monster tank like a boss.. kudos👏👏👏❤️❤️
Cheers lol
This would be a perfect tank to put peace lilies in the back corners, and some bella/parlor palms in the back, they can be planted in tanks the same way you plant the boston ferns.
Can the parlor palms’ roots be submerged like he does the peace Lilly?
@@midwesty2222 yes, I believe so
Well now I feel like such a dumb dumb for not realizing this is what a paludarium is, but it is by far my favorite of your aquascape techniques. I'm not sure if the amazon tank would also be a paludarium but I still love its setup of plants both in and out of the water. Thanks for helping me to discover my own preferences haha.
Loving your vids, man! Inspirational!
I would just like to say thank you for taking the time to help people understand and show us ideas for not only our tanks but where to get free moss and not spending £££’S on top brand stuff constantly or our tanks will never be Zen enough! Fabulous basic no frills information throughout without constant brand name dropping (unlike other videos). Watching you has inspired me to finally try my first build after closing down my marine tank. Also I love the way you just do what works, holding up the light with fishing line & a screw...it works, second hand tanks etc...this without a doubt is some other channels worst nightmare...you should be using ADA fishing line ha-ha. Fantastic channel, great work and a massive thanks mate.
Finally got round to watching this full vid, absolutely brilliant! I feel inspired. Thanks for sharing your techniques 😊🙏🏻🙌🏻
