There are already lots of channels demonstrating how to cook things. As far as I can see there isn't a need for another. Your approach is a comparison/review one. So useful particularly with prices going so high lately. Carry on just as you are 😊 thank you.
Good that you show the ingredients, saves me spending hours trying to find things I can eat as so many have potato starch in these days (even hot cross buns!! many desserts, all those fish fingers you reviewed!! ) as I have a violent allergic reaction to potato, tomato etc.

Nice to see you with a smile on your face Gareth. I thought the point of your programme was to show us what's out there in packaged foods so we can compare prices and judge what's value for money. I can cook but living on my own it's sometimes far more convenient for me to combine items to save time and money. I don't feel inspired enough to be creative these days. I watch your videos because you're entertaining and I learn that the better Known makes are not always the best or tastiest from your presentations. There are too many" how to prepare and cook" videos out there. If I wanted to be more creative I'd watch them. Most people these days don't have the time to prepare and cook and as long as they can eat a sensibly balanced diet while saving time, energy and money then I think your programmes serve a valid purpose. Keep doing what you do friend.

I cook from scratch most of the time - mainly simple pastas and curries. Like you, I have also made bread and pasta, and, while it can be fun, it's not something I would ever do routinely: far too much time and effort. I watch your channel for entertainment, not because I buy and try anything that you review. Keep up the good work.

My late father-in-law left home and didn't know how to cook at all. He bought a recipe book and never looked back. He cooked some amazing dishes over the years. You obviously can cook if you've made bread and pasta, which takes a lot of patience and practice to get right, but it seems you don't enjoy it or want to do it, which is fine. There is nothing wrong with bunging everything in a pot (a one pot wonder). They are generally the tastiest dishes. You just need to make sure you season well and use lots of herbs and condiments to bring out the flavour. There are some things I am not very good at. One is pasta and the other is bread. I am trying to improve, but I don't have the patience. I would be dead miserable if I was eating boring, tasteless packet food all the time. Hope your jaw is healing well. Keep making us smile. Tracey x

The problem is that most recipes outright lie. They misrepresent cooking times to make them seem quicker, and also tell you to use less of everything so it appears cheaper.
Onions cannot be browned in 3 minutes, and one teaspoon of tomato puree is not enough for a good ragu. I don't care what any food writer says. This puts people off when their laborious dinners taste bad.
A slow cooker is a God-send for beginner cooks, it's very forgiving for timings and ingredient quantities. Plus, minimal effort. There are also some good microwave recipes (not ready meals!) out there for people who hate cooking.

You being you and your reacting to the various foods you try for your viewing audience is enough for me. I never want to criticize or make feel bad any regular person who puts him or herself out there to take the time and trouble to have a RUclips channel. As soon as I saw the title, I knew what you were going to say. That you’re not a very good cook and so you might as well leave it to people that can like your Mrs and oh my God, your mum’s dinners look absolutely amazing also. I know this because I’ve been following you for long enough and my Husband says exactly the same to me. Why should he cook and have a mediocre meal when I can cook and I’m pretty sure you feel the same way about your Mrs.
There are loads of cookery channels out there. You don’t need to compete with them. We have Kay’s cooking. She is a legend a national treasure and I feel quite protective over her when people start bad mouthing her to be honest. Even though I could never eat anything she cooked she is a national treasure to be protected. You are unique because at the time of starting your channel there wasn’t really many RUclipsrs that did supermarket ready meals or ready to eat meals in the English market. I would watch lots of taste tests and I would think to myself I wish they were English. This means nothing to me. Well done. Stick to what you’re best at. You don’t need to change your channel there are lots of us English folk that sometimes due to the demand of life we need to have a ready meal and a budget ready meal at that you feel that gap. I have disabilities and I’m not always able to cook from scratch so having a channel like yours means that I can look for decent ready meals without having to try them all until I find something decent, you’ve done the work for me. Thank you, Gareth. Don’t change.

I learnt to cook because of my mother...quickly I realised that...gravy should not come in slices...fried eggs shouldn't be done from a stone cold pan for 35-40 minutes with no more heat than can be generated by rubbing the bottom of the pan with your own hand...beans should not taste burnt and be all mushed up like a pot of bean puree...if meat says something like 7 mins each side, that does not mean AND an extra hour to make sure....buns and cakes should not be of a consistency that can sink a duck. I don't know how we survived tbh.

I like your reviews aand the cheap to expensive comparisons, if you can't cook all your get for your eforts is comments telling you how you went wrong it's not worth the stress

Practice makes perfect, this is a word of encouragement.
My step son can't read of write, but by watching me he can put his hand to any cooking now find an easy to follow recipe book, don't give up trying, as long as you understand temperatures and safe temp food should be at you will be part there, start with something simple until you get it correct then move up the scale.
Good luck ,give it a deal go.

Keep doing what you are good at Gareth, it's a great friendly channel and we have a laugh or two along the way. When I try to cook I tend to use the smoke alarm as a timer. 😂

I absolutely agree with you. It’s not a cookery channel. There are plenty of those for anyone who wants them, but not this one. Anyway, if you did cook, you would get messages saying you were doing things the wrong way and chefs do them some other way! You can’t do right for doing wrong sometimes. 100,000-odd subscribers can’t all be wrong, so please keep up the good work.
