- Quick explaination on How to use vorpX wirelessly // vorpX through Virtual Desktop.
We all love playing in VR and sometimes, we want to not be attached to the PC. So, since there is a way to use vorpX with Virtual Desktop, I will show you what is the one step you need to do to make this simple task work for you.
Play your pancake games while sitting in the living room on the sofa, with you Xbox Gamepad ;) Игры
Very helpful, surprisingly not many youtubers had covered this important point. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏 my friend, highly appreciated. I’m making these to help others and share what excites me
@@bungeevr WTF?!? That’s horrible! I’m sorry you had this experience with Virtual Desktop! I didn’t think they treat customers that way 🫣
I was stucked because i was using the rift/quest configuration. Very thanks!!
Perfect! It’s working! I’m happy for you. So simple eh?
Thank you so much! I got it to work and I subscribed. :)
Enjoy your wireless vorpX experience ;) thank you for subscribing
Thanks for the video! Gonna try this configuration, hope it will help to make VorpX work.
Hope this worked
Man, this is amazing! I accidentally bought a few games from Steam that aren't VR (sometimes the new guy has gotta learn the hard way). Poking around RUclips I did come across Vorpx but no idea how to use it with Quest 2. In an extended search I struck gold with this video. I do have things running well wirelessly with Steam VR (I actually did buy some games with VR) and the Virtual Desktop Steamer. Your instruction makes this look easy. I'll get to this in a couple of days but I expect no problem. Kudos!!!
That’s awesome my friend!!! Have fun and keep in touch please 😉
Thank you for this!!!
💙❤️💙
great vid i honestly do not think i will use vorpX but this will be helpful if i do
I have talked to several people and they were wondering how to get vorpX and VD to work. A viewer actually asked for a video tutorial if possible :D
Subbed. Nice video :)
Thank you 🙏 sooo much friend
subbed and liked, ty very much.
Thank you 🙏 I highly appreciate it
nice one!
Cheers 🥂
Very helpful, thanks! Sitting with my Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 (nVidia GTX 1650Ti + AMD Ryzen 5 4600H) and my Quest 2 running VD splendidly on other simracing games without link cable, and just googled for a solution for my non VD-supported simracing games as GT Legends, Grand Prix Legends and F1 2020 and found vorpX and instantly bought it. Chosing Oculus device I got a warning using link cable. But Oculus prevents using SteamVR when using LinkCable (really stupid of Meta, since even heavy games runs flawless in VD and no LinkCable), so I thought i had to convert my vorpX license for my stationary gaming PC 😞
But ofcourse! Device = Steam VR - when you know it, it seems obvious 😀
Now I'm just battling with F1 2020 and preventing Quest 2 lock target mode and 'real VR' in my Quest 2 instead of 2D.
But the first BIG stone has left my shoulders - again THANKS!
You’ve literally made my weekend!!! I’m wishing you happy gameplay and 150% enjoyment and immersion!!!
So that's why I couldn't get my quest 2 to work with vorpx wirelessly. Gonna try this, fingers crossed it works, thanks for the tips
Cool 😎 let me know bro
A little confused and wished it was just simply explained. What is the order of launching? What I read is start VorpX fist, Virtual desktop, then launch game. In the video you said launch "whatever". exe first. I think you meant for the first time. There after launch VorpX, then game. Let's solve the misery and simply put the steps/order in description?
I’ve re watched it and totally see your point there! You are right! This should be explained better! Thank you for bringing this up.
What I meant there was that since vorpX loves EXE files and tries to inject itself to any EXE that is being launched right after vorpX (if people don’t know how to exclude EXE files from vorpX to inject to, I suggest to launch them first and then vorpX and last, the game), since I was running Fallout4 through a ModManager (it is an EXE file), I launched it prior to launching vorpX so that it will be preventing the injection attempt.
I’ll add a step by step in the description, thank you 🙏
@@IamVRan step by step description available yet? Thx!!
nice, ty
You are welcome 🙏
Does this work with SteamVR desktop?
Hi Ran...just to check if I run vorpx in VD and then simply run a game from the desktop will it not hook? Does it have to be via steam ? At the moment I manually run the games from the desktop and I use windows XMR. Have you tried this route ?. Cheers Adam
Hey Adam. It should hook as long as the game is an EXE file, vorpX would want to hook to it :)
can you use the touch controllers? is this really in vr fall out 4?
Some games can be played using the controllers, you can also map the controllers to be used within vorpX, I personally never did that since I’m comfortable with the Xbox gamepad. Fallout 4 was in VR, yes. I do have Fallout4VR version as well but in this video I am playing Fallout 4 pancake in VR using vorpX because I wanted to use a mod and ENB that don’t work on the Fallout4VR version 😎
Man this is great, can you do the same with Epic Game launcher games?? Especially GTA 5?? Well done video.
I will test and let you know, that’s a great question. I have used vorpX with games that were not Steam games and it works perfectly. Let me test and I’ll let you know!
Thank you 🙏 my friend for the comment
Btw, for GTA 5 I’d get the VR mod that runs perfectly (I tend to not use vorpX for games that have vr mods) and try running it through Virtual Desktop
Just tested, wouldn’t run through VD on the headset 😒 but the mod runs beautifully when linked to the PC
@@IamVRan Copy.... Thanks for looking.
@@alexcarbonell3268 OK, get GTA V VR mod, it works with VD and Epic launcher version, I just tested again, just make sure you run SteamVR before launching the game. SteamVR has to be open
Thx for the video! Didn’t think of setting it to Steam vr. Unfortunately I still can’t play BF5 (all I see is the endless plane of Steam vr menu, but my pc screen does turn black.) Do you by any chance know how to solve this?
Oh, nvm. Found the problem, i used the older direct x version
@@nikpan9744 haha 😂 perfect, I’m glad it works
browsing vorpx forums for one reason or another allot of links that might have options to try just lead to oops not found when i click on so many possible links i need help...
I can run mirrors edge in full direct 3d vr which was so reassuring, but i really wanna play bioshock but one reason or another trying both remastered and original... the only two options i can choose between are immersive and theater mode.. this is really frustrating i just want to BE in rapture... I got geo 3d as an option but its still just a screen in front of me and ive seen people pull it off so this really sucks i need a lead
That’s odd, Bioshock should face a full VR option. One thing I know is that Ralf took off the cloud profile for Bioshock after being approached by Take2 to do so (same as Luke Ross’s Mods).
So when you load the game, it automatically launches as immersive screen? And when you check what’s available on the top part in the menu, it shows you Cinema mode but no FullVR? That’s the first I’m hearing tbh. There’s always those three options 🤔
If i wanted to use vorpx using the link for even less latency, how would the process change?
Damn, sorry, just saw this comment! Sorry. If you are connected through Link, You can just keep it as Oculus (I wonder how it would work with v28 rol up. gonna have to test and see I guess ;) )
Great vid.
I was hoping to play GTA 5 in VR using a mod (i think it called 'the real mod') on my quest 2.
Unfortunately im using a Shadow pc and i cant use a link cable and the vr mode does not work with Virtual Desktop. Could i use Vorpx with the 'Real VR Mod for gta' and run it through Virtual Desktop?
Hey, I have tried using virtual desktop with the mod (epic store version) and it does not work. Now, when there’s a vr mod available you don’t use vorpX, you should use the mod only, or use vorpX by itself. GTA V would run with vorpX, I personally never tried it since there’s a mod available.
@@IamVRan
So i should just use Vorpx + Vertual Desktop + GTA 5?
@@MickManchester. yes 👍
@@IamVRan
Brilliant, thank you so so much.
Subscribed .. 😊
Everytime I run it with SteamVR It crashes after getting into SteamVR on the quest 2.
I think it happens because my preferred codec was H.264 and not HEVC.
I will be checking this out today...
What game are you testing?
Try and update 👍
@@IamVRan Battlefront II Have a lot of issues so It crashes once I get in the arcade mode...
Do you need to have the games on steam itself to do this or can you play a games that are not on steam with the vorpx
Not only Steam my friend, you can use vorpX with Epic store games, gog, indie, basically if your game runs from an EXE file? and vorpX supports it, it will run 👍
@@IamVRan and you’d launch that from virtual desktop?
@@powderedbow1604 vorpX? No, just AirLink. vorpX is it’s own entity 😊
So you start the game before you start the headset?
The headset is on, you need to make sure vorpX is set to SteamVR in the menu. Then you start Streamer (VD) then you start the game and put the headset on or start the game inside the headset through VD
How'd you make the gamepad work with vorpx? I've been trying to but it doesn't work at all...
The Gamepad? It is Bluetooth to my PC, works with every game, VD or Linked :)
@@IamVRan Yeah, I had to disable hand tracking with quest 2 when i want to play with my gamepad since hand tracking still tracks my hand while im holding my gamepad lol
@@icrashalot2266 Oh my! never thought of that! great to know! thank you for updating me. I am glad you found a solution, enjoy my friend
heyy so i hav been trying to play re7 on oclus quest 2 using vorp x it does show connecting to re7 but my vr just stops at steam vr section and the game does not play on my vr any solution
Hey, so vorpX is great and all but I tend to opt out of using it when there’s an actual VR MOD for a game, and RESI7 has an amazing amazing VR Mod here: github.com/praydog/REFramework/releases
If you are a Resident Evil fan, there are mods for RE2, 3, 7 and 8 and they are really good 👍
Check this video that explains how to install these mods and there are links in the description as well: ruclips.net/video/yueVQuGnczM/видео.html
i did install the mod it is runing on my vr but it is v v laggy i cant play it even my computer starts to lag when it is connected wiht it

@@IamVRan aa its not working anyway i can get in touch with u ? and u could help me ? discord anyway? i really did wanna play it on vr
I know it’s stupid but can you try something? Can you start SteamVR before you run the game with vorpX? Also… which profile are you using?
it dosent work for me. for some reason it makes my virtual screen way to big to where the in game main menu is mostly outside of my screen and the head tracking dose not work cause when i turn my head the screen dose not turn it just flips the screen at weird angles. how do i fix this?
Ok... I have so many questions :)
One, Virtual Desktop is running from your Quest? (I am not sure if there is still a Sideload patch, this video is a year old and so much has changed since then). Also, do you launch Streamer on your PC? Are you using vorpX as well?
@@IamVRan yeah I use virtual desktop on my quest. I use the virtual desktop app on my quest to connect to virtual desktop streamer app on my PC and then I run PC games on steam. it usually works well it's just buggy with Vorpx.
@@IamVRan I don't use sideload that much. Sideload is for downloading oculus apps from your PC.
I’m having a hard time getting good quality... and it’s awkwardly zoomed in tried different zoom out methods but then it goes to 2D but I can still look around any ideas??
I can sense your frustration reading this question 🥺.
In a nutshell, vorpX does zoom in to fill your view into 3D. But! There are ways to tweak this, one of them is tweaking the FOV (Field Of View), not every game has this option so u might need to go from the back door and change some configuration or ini files on your PC.
When you mention good quality, are you talking sharpness? It could all be an issue of resolution and or aspect ratio being used, when you tweak these, FOV should be tweaked as well.
I’m not sure which game you are trying out. If you have geometry reconstruction and you are taking the 3D strength too high this will make things either too big or too small, depending on the numbers you have.
When you mention that it goes to 2D, you mean it becomes a 2D screen in front of you? Like edge peak, or immersive screen?
@@IamVRan I tried fallout 4 and it made me kind of sick how bad the head movements were and on screen, I switched to fallout new Vegas and it was pretty much the same. I watched another RUclips video about FOV scan and that did help immensely... still has this super zoomed in effect but I will try your FOV tips as well and yeah when I tried to zoom out it went to the immerse screen look. Sorry I’m not super tech savvy. I’m about 2 months in VR and 1 month in on new gamer PC
@@IamVRan thank you very much for the quick reply!
@@stevebrown7462 Please, no need to apologize, welcome to the world of VR my friend, it is a learning curve, vorpX as well, it's definitely taking a bit of time understanding what changes what and how to tweak things and options. FOV scan, you mean "Direct VR scan" inside vorpX? Yes, that is the magic button in vorpX. that's for sure. When it comes to Fallout4, there is also a VR version of the game that does not require vorpX if you want to try it out. But, vorpX, the FOV I am talking about is to literally going into the text files inside the game and provide a higher FOV number to make the game best VR experience. For example, in Fallout 4 there are tweaks you should do for resolution and the file is located here: C:\Users\(YOUR NAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Fallout4Prefs.ini) but it might be too much information.
Again, vorpX has to zoom in to achieve the VR effect. I am not sure if it's absurdly extreme for you (could be that you had tweaked the upscale in your headset, like in the Oculus debug tool?)
@@stevebrown7462 Of course, I am making these videos to share my passion and on the way, help the subscribers or viewers that have questions that I might have an answer to :)
what the name if the program you using at 2:30???!!
I’m using Mod Manager since the game is heavily modded (get it on Nexus website), I was also using vorpX to get it running in VR headset
For some reason I get a VR runtime error in vorpx when I launch Virtual Desktop on my quest 2. Then I get a "VR failed" message in steam.
That is odd, besides vorpX, are you able to run PCVR games through Virtual Desktop onto your Q2?
If not, did you get Virtual Desktop from SideQuest as well? (It is a patch for the one you have on your Quest2 - sidequestvr.com/app/16).
@@IamVRan thanks VRan, yes i am able to play games on Oculus and steam VR through virtual desktop. I installed virtual desktop using the Oculus store not sidequest.
@@latoyalee8961 great, the oculus store is one thing. What game are you trying to load? Here are some options- Make sure to change the headset option to Steam in vorpX configuration menu (like shown in the video), also make sure the streamer is on the same network and has your headset name correctly written. Close SteamVR before you launch the game. Let VD start what it needs.
If these don’t work, You might need to install the Sidequest patch. Make sure your quest is connected to the pc and Sidequest recognizes it.
@@IamVRan thanks, I'll give that a try
@@latoyalee8961 please let me know, I think if that works. I mean, when it works! (😉) people should know
But can I play using oculus hand controllers?
With vorpX, what it does, it injects and forces 3D when available, to pancake games to make them available to be played and experienced in a VR headset. It doesn’t give individual hands 🙌🏻 control. You can play with a Gamepad, mouse and keyboard or touch controllers that act just like a Gamepad
Why VorpX not available on Steam store? 😕
vorpX is not a game that can be purchased on Steam, it is a third party application and can be purchased here: www.vorpx.com
@@IamVRan But Steam sells programs too.
_It would just be much more convenient for people to buy there than on some third-party site._
@@Playr0ne true, steam sells programs as well. I understand your point my friend, I’ve been talking to people that buy their games only through Steam. Steam’s credibility is not to be looked at lightly, that is for sure. I guess it is really a matter of choice in this case. If you are worried about scams, junk mail or such, I can vouch nothing like that has happened to me through vorpX. In terms of service, there’s a forum on their website and someone to help at all times, plus, they’ll respond to your emails if necessary :)
As far as refunds, I believe the policy is that it is not refundable, maybe things have changed though, I’m not sure 🤔
@@IamVRan Yes, a lot of money is being asked for this program, especially in terms of the currency of my country, so it is extremely important that if the experience does not meet expectations, it would be possible to make a refund. In addition, Steam also supports regional pricing for countries outside of Central Europe and the Americas.
@@Playr0ne I hear you my friend, would be amazing if vorpX had a Demo for people to try, even if it was a demo that worked on a specific game, just so that you can experience how it feels in the headset ❤️
VRception
Its never as easy as you youtubers make it seem. No one has made a good tutorial on vorpx. Can't get Fallen Order to work.
Oh no, is vorpX not injecting itself to the game? What doesn’t work exactly?
There are other ways to play these games in VR headset. Try reshade with Depth3D maybe? It gives you better results than vorpX at times too.
Check out this technique maybe:
ruclips.net/video/S2zafu8iaBg/видео.html
@@IamVRan I appreciate the help but once again trying your other tutorial it feels like there's a missing step. You go from a split image to what it looks like in the headset. But for me it looks the same. The image in my headset is either split or blurred. The two images never come together to create a 3D look. What am I missing?
@@Ssquire11 wait, which method are you referring to? Are you talking about the reshade and Depth3D? If you are trying to use VR companion to view the double image, when you are in the game and in the headset you see the 2 screens, press on the Right CTRL key on your keyboard . If you are using Virtual Desktop, press F7 on your keyboard
@@IamVRan Right CTRL did it! I swear I didn't hear that step once but I'm glad it worked. Another question, can I change the settings so that my head set controls the view instead of my controller?
@@Ssquire11 yasss I’m super glad it worked for you! You’ve made my weekend!
In this method unfortunately you can’t have head tracking, it’s literally like playing on your monitor only in a great scale and 3D Depth, vorpX though, does have head tracking, depending on what type of game you are playing you’d want it on :)
FUCK THE RIFT
SOOO OVERRATED
