tbh I think it kind off beautiful it shows that scars don't have to be ugly.. but they can be beautiful too.. btw that's my opinion id never get it done!
I never felt that scars are ugly, on anyone. I have two from accidents, one of them looks kinda odd, too, and in the summer it's very visible. But they have never bothered me. I can't even explain why, because they don't tell particularly interesting stories (only that I was a reckless child). But they are part of me.
+Agrippa da Rippa Poe's law is an attempt at effective liberal internet satire and declares: “Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humour, it is impossible to create a parody of fundamentalism that someone won't mistake for the real thing.
I don't understand New York laws at all. In Alabama where I live there still isn't any anesthetic but they are allowed to use medical cauterizers. Something this size with one of those would take maybe 45 minutes and is much less painful.
I would never have anything like this done to my body; however, I give this guy a lot of credit and respect. He is right when he says it shouldn't matter what people look like and it is their own body to modify. My biggest problem with that whole situation is I could not bare to go through the pain.
no wonder this hurt a lot, took forever, and looks terribly uneven. that equipment is junk! a good kauter is hotter and and keeps a constant temperature. allowing much faster and more precise work. the pain receptors are instantly vaporized, and because the contact time is very short, the surrounding tissue wont be fried, which makes it hurts like crazy and take much longer to heal. peace
Personally I think that branding (if not too extreme) can actually be quite expressive and beautiful. I have seen this done before though with an electrically heated tool, which was used like a pen. I'm sure that would hurt less
in high school, kids bring in lighters and paper clips. they bend the paper clips to their liking and then heat it up with lighters. then they press the hot paper clip onto their skin. HURTS ALOT
That is a valid point you have. But if a person is willing to go through that much pain to express themselves, can you not think and appreciate that? Not everyone gets scars for a good/heroic reason...
people always criticize others for doing things like this, thinking that they will regret it later in their lives (whatever it is that theyre doing). But the thing is, if you prepare yourself mentally and are sure of something that you want to do, then youre not gonna regret anything. just because a youtube user DOESNT like something on someone else, doesnt mean that the actual person doesnt like it
+BananaLolz03 I've done scarification on myself after researching layers of the skin and how deep is too deep and the varying thicknesses of skin on different parts of the body. I have gotten burned before though it was an accident. I haven't gotten a tattoo. I have pierced myself. Branding probably hurts the most.
+BananaLolz03 I guess branding is like burning yourself, tattooing is pricking yourself with a needle and scarification is cutting yourself so probably branding.
***** nah.. i burnt my finger once probably just a 1st degree burn and it hurts like hell. Even if you go into a shock, it will still really hurt afterwards for like a few days or weeks.
Totally have to respect those who brand themselves. In an era where commodity and fashion have contaminated spiritual meaning and direction, it's not hard to see people pierced and tattooed by professionals because "it was kewl". Not that I'm trying to put down people who do it because they have a higher motive, of course. So branding takes that away, making whatever thing is etched on your skin totally permanent, etched on your mind as well due to the pain, forcing on permanency the message.
Just because you guys don't agree to someone's way of living or how they treat their body dose not by any way mean that they're "dumb" or "stupid" it's their body, their choice.
Got my first and probably ONLY branding today! I'm really glad that I went through with it. No, I don't have any piercings or tattoos and I definately never will either. Just not my style.
The point of body modification isnt to please others. Its to please yourself. If they really cared what others think, they probably wouldve never gone through with it at all. So, maybe its not beautiful to you, but to people like me, it is VERY beautiful. I love it.
Don't advise people to do this themselves. It may not look special, but the guy in the video certainly does have special qualifications. Not only is he working in a sterile room with medical grade sterilized steel, but he also underwent several years (2yrs is required, plus refresher courses) of blood-borne pathogen prevention training to help reduce the risk of infection, which is especially high when talking about scarification.
i would have loved to see this healed btw.. still, i feel like "being a rebel" is not done by putting shit between your skin and skull, and if how you look shouldn't be important, then why the hell enduring 5 hours of excruciating pain for it? it probably is because you are either insicure, or really craving for people's respect, and both those behaviors are not much in line with being a rebel. That said, I think that if you like the aesthetics or the "rite of passage" meaning, there's nothing wrong in doing this kind of things, I just believe the guy in the video to be self contradictory
About five and a half years ago I suffered second degree chemical burns on both sides of my abdomen. I had two ileostomys (google it) at different times. They were defective and therefore caused incontinence. Stool ate away at my skin down into several underlying layers of my skin. There is nothing to describe that pain. Now I have many keloids and massive scars along with pieces of my flesh missing (having been necrotic and falling off). Almost died from going into shock. This isn't a body modification; it is life and death. Why anyone would willingly go through this type of pain is beyond me. I didn't have a choice.
I've no idea how much it'll hurt, but it should be less painful than a piercing, the thing is that it takes longer to make, so you'll be feeling the pain for several minutes. It really isnt bad at all, feels like a completely tolerable burn. NOTHING like this.
We know a guy who does these in London, but he uses a special electrosurgical tool with anaesthetic and it only takes 10 minutes to do what this guy had done! Can't believe he lasted as long as he did! Skin popping, burning smell for hours.... WOW!
i dont understand how people that do this say "it doesnt matter what you look like"....WTF!! then why are you doing all this to yourself if it doesnt matter what you look like? All I can say is this is masochism, pure and simple.
I'm kind of jealous on people who can stand such a huge amount of pain. I usually feel pain much quicker than normal people...and twice as intense. It's really annoying.
I have always taken pride in my tolerance for pain, the only reason I say that is that there is no way I would be able to handle this. A burn is, to me, the worst most intense ( and completely inescapable ) pain there is. You have to be far more gnarly than I to be able to do this. I do however think it looks amazing when well done, and those who have it done should wear their brand as a badge of pride. I will stick with my tattoos though haha.
that was my point exactly though, how everyone thinks its so terrible and weird to brand yourself and so normal to do it to an animal who didnt chose it. we're on the same page here lol
Some tribes in Africa have this transition ritual where the boy goes into the wild and tries to survive for two weeks. If he returns, he's a man and as a celebration ritual he'll jump over fire and have "tattoos" cut on his body. To make sure the cuts become scars (for the tattoo-effect) they massage the wounds with salt. Now I know from experience salt kinda burns, but you have to be mental to let yourself get burned for 5hours straight just because you wanna "look cool".
I used to work in Emergency Rooms for different hospitals. We'd get a lot of these sorts of people. They'd have to come often, too. Repeat infections. Emergency rooms.
I would't do that specifically just because it looks so painful, but I do agree with him that people need to learn to look into them and understand their personality.
Scarification is so much easier and quicker. But the process of branding is something worth going through. This is so great to watch. Just reminds me of my future tongue split this year. Fun times.
One must consider the how long it takes to brand humans, our pain tolerance, and the fact that we don't have nearly as much hair or as thick of skin as cows'. They can still feel it, but are much better equipped to deal with it.
You all should do some research on branding. There are tribes around the world that still do these style of markings that represent beauty and the whole idea of "mind over matter".
i love all of you who criticize this man for what he is doing to his own body... its not about you.. that brand was for him, it means something.. there is no such thing as going too far.. i have alot of tattoos and peircings, they help represent who i am. only difference is that tats and peircings are mainstream.. some day this will be to.
That shit looked horrible. I have a brand and it looks great. But we used medical grade equipment. There is no way I'd let someone use a blow torch and a piece of metal to brand me.
I mean, they aren't doing it right at all, you're supposed to use a medical tool used to cauterize wounds, they aren't supposed to go passed fatty layers and they don't really hurt at all besides a mild twinge

I believe it is at its peak in American society and these taboo ideas are becoming accepted. the art will die down once people aren't concidered unique, different, or weird.
As much as I'm willing to understand this -I have a tattoo and it really isn't that different from this, except it's a thousand times softer-, I think it's too dangerous. If someone gets a body shock in the process there could be a serious accident.

*raises hand* I have a branding of a paw print on my left shoulder. It's really just like getting a tattoo, maybe even less painful actually since once you burn nerves you don't feel anything. Oh and unless you are okay with the smell of your own flesh burning I don't recommend it. This is not for the weak of heart.
They do. I have lived in China, and eaten dog. However, these are not pet dogs where people just were like "oh, im going to eat Fluffy" These are dogs bred to be eaten. Many people eat goat, yet people have also keep goats as pets. Same with chickens.
yeah thats so true and hes not harming anyone else and he seems a nice guy and its not his tattoos piercings or brandings that make the person its whats inside him that counts
I got my first tattoo on my foot. It's quite a big one and took about two hours to complete. There are a lot of bones and nerves in your foot so it does hurt. Not as bad as I thought it would though. My body did go in to chock and I was shaking uncontrollably for the last 15 minutes of it. It was worth it though XD
Ok, what does this say about the person getting it done? It is part of our evolutionary success that we have learned to avoid danger. But also, what does it say about the person willing to inflict this kind of pain on someone else?
I love this. Honestly, kudos to that dude. I want to get one in the near future, since I found out about a really good body mod artist out in Nanaimo BC
I cry when I stub my toe.. I would die if I did this.
Same here
If they did it right (with a cauterizer) it would hurt less than a tattoo or about the same...
haha I love how they make it more about shock than actually informing the audience
I would say something insulting about him, but he's already been burned.
I think I'll just stick to tattoos.
Roadman1000 Yeah. It can look cool, but I once pulled a white-hot door handle out of fire, and I don't want anything remotely so hot near me.
Same🙌🏾🙌🏾.
tbh I think it kind off beautiful it shows that scars don't have to be ugly.. but they can be beautiful too.. btw that's my opinion id never get it done!
Your opinion is the best one I've seen so far in the comments
I never felt that scars are ugly, on anyone. I have two from accidents, one of them looks kinda odd, too, and in the summer it's very visible. But they have never bothered me. I can't even explain why, because they don't tell particularly interesting stories (only that I was a reckless child). But they are part of me.
I don't have the balls for that... No way in hell.
I agree
Bruh your a girl of course you don’t have any balls
@@DanielW607 🤣XD
horses and bulls also get branded. that's cruel too.
Except these people are consensual so it's better on humans tbh
Well cattle is different.cattle are branded so if some one steals them or they run away you know witch ones are yours usually it's an initial.
+Gokette same to you.your not worth my time so fuck off.
+Gokette Getting a little aggressive are we?
+crazyzockerz I've seen that on Skyirm.
i did this with a paper clip and a lighter. i don't recommend you do this with a paper clip and a lighter
Yeah wouldn't recommend it
+Agrippa da Rippa I wouldn't recommend getting branded at all.
Bertrum Hurny ?
+Agrippa da Rippa Poe's law is an attempt at effective liberal internet satire and declares: “Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humour, it is impossible to create a parody of fundamentalism that someone won't mistake for the real thing.
All i could think was "MY BRAND!!!!" From that one contact commercial.....
Katrina Dutton THANKS DUDE (SARCASM) You made me spit soda all over my laptop from reading this XD!
I have special eyes XD
oh God I've stumbled upon NatGeos youtube ... Now I'll be watching their videos all day and night lol
Now they know how animals feel when they are branded.
that looks painful as, I would personally never do that but whatever floats your boat your body your decision
I don't understand New York laws at all. In Alabama where I live there still isn't any anesthetic but they are allowed to use medical cauterizers. Something this size with one of those would take maybe 45 minutes and is much less painful.

not my bag but i think there is something quite powerful in the expression of freedom for these "moders".
5 hours?
550 years ago this shit was a punishment/interrogation you weren't expected to survive, nowadays people do it voluntarily...
I know right!
they even pay for it...
no wonder this hurt a lot, took forever, and looks terribly uneven. that equipment is junk! a good kauter is hotter and and keeps a constant temperature. allowing much faster and more precise work. the pain receptors are instantly vaporized, and because the contact time is very short, the surrounding tissue wont be fried, which makes it hurts like crazy and take much longer to heal.

I'd never do that in a million years. Too bizarre for me.
i love all body modifiers they all in person are WAY cooler people than most every day folks.
Most individuals go to plastic surgeons to remove the scars they got accidentally while others get them intentionally. People are so complicated!
This guy looks like he either delivers pizzas or works behind the counter at a gas station
That is a valid point you have. But if a person is willing to go through that much pain to express themselves, can you not think and appreciate that? Not everyone gets scars for a good/heroic reason...

+BananaLolz03 I guess branding is like burning yourself, tattooing is pricking yourself with a needle and scarification is cutting yourself so probably branding.

That's like saying it should be forbidden to paint trees, but you can paint whatever else you want. Art comes in a variety, not just on paper.
if I was ever going to get one, id have the shape molded in iron so you could just stick it on once. fuck 7 hours of that shit.
shouldn't he be using a cauterizer? I saw in another video a branding done with that and it seemed like the guy didn't felt that much of a pain...

This is obscenely melodramatic. Get a hold on yourselves NatGeo and act like professionals.
You all can tell whatever you want, but this guy got balls to do that. He didn't quit, although he feared like fuck. Respect, bro.
that was my point exactly though, how everyone thinks its so terrible and weird to brand yourself and so normal to do it to an animal who didnt chose it. we're on the same page here lol

It's your choices, dude, you doing your things, you got rights.
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.
So basically this is what happens when the 1000 degree knife accidentally touches your finger 👌🏽👌🏽
I've got two brands they honestly do not hurt that bad. But if you do it for this long it starts to hurt REALLYYYY BAD.
I like this. I wouldn't want to be branded necessarily, but I'd like to get scarification.
These people are very brave. I admire it.
His parents must be proud.
He really tuff
that just gave me goosebumps
I would't do that specifically just because it looks so painful, but I do agree with him that people need to learn to look into them and understand their personality.
You're totally correct here, it just makes me wonder what on Earth it's leading to.
Scarification is so much easier and quicker. But the process of branding is something worth going through. This is so great to watch. Just reminds me of my future tongue split this year. Fun times.

very good point

This just made me want to cry
I feel like this is one of the most painful things you can do to yourself. Ouch....
That shit looked horrible. I have a brand and it looks great. But we used medical grade equipment. There is no way I'd let someone use a blow torch and a piece of metal to brand me.
Technically, art is creation and modification of any type. There are no guidelines of art, and therefore, body modification is a type of art.
I mean, they aren't doing it right at all, you're supposed to use a medical tool used to cauterize wounds, they aren't supposed to go passed fatty layers and they don't really hurt at all besides a mild twinge
Why did he go to get it there??? Seems unprofessional. There's medical tools to use
The narrator sounds a little biased against this. By the way, there is little danger after the burning if the person takes care
Because he is saying that it doesn't matter for the personality of a person. He hopes other people will see through it, if they don't like it.
this scaring thing is an insult to anyone who has a scar. I had to have surgery and now I have a permanent scar and these people are doing it just so it looks cool? Scars have a meaning to them a ,battle, a story but now these people are taking it away and rendering it meaningless.
for people saying we brand animals which is worse, if you actually had any knowledge of the subject you would know that when it's done humanely it barely hurts them because their skin and muscle is much thicker then ours'.
Wow, this is really interesting. Personally, I'd never do something like branding, but hey, people can do what they want with their bodies. I'll admit that a lot of this stuff looks pretty unique at least. :3
Mostly though, I just wanna say "Ouch!" XD Looks like it hurt like HELL.
People do this to animals..
I wish as many people that are disgusted by this were also disgusted by animals being branded.
This guy is fortunate enough to make the decision himself.
D: this makes me feel sick
All of this is more so a personal passing. i think there is somewhere in a persons mind (or some peoples) that says "if I have made it through that pain, I want to one-up myself." We are entering an age of COMPLETE customizing. Some people stick with the phones, clothes, cars and so on, others crave skin deep customization. I believe it is at its peak in American society and these taboo ideas are becoming accepted. the art will die down once people aren't concidered unique, different, or weird.
I think it's rather stunning, and worth anyone's respect, regardless of whether they would do it themselves or not.
Have your opinion, but I think this is beautiful.
As much as I'm willing to understand this -I have a tattoo and it really isn't that different from this, except it's a thousand times softer-, I think it's too dangerous. If someone gets a body shock in the process there could be a serious accident.
Art is subjective. It is whatever the artist wants it to be.
Having horn implants is not anything satanic. With that said, you were speaking about the branding. Not the horns. So again, what does the intentional scarring of flesh have to do with the character of a Bronze-age mythology?
It looks really interesting but I wouldnt be able to take that kind of pain . I think scarification is less painful and also kind of more beautiful
It's bloody and just as dangerous I hear.
Eali Fey really depends: as a general rule branding hurts more but gives different scars
Precisely what, to your mind, does the intentional scarification of flesh for artistic purposes have to do with the antagonistic character of a Bronze-age mythology?
He says that it shouldn't matter what you look like, so why go through the effort and pain of CHANGING what you look like? Totally contradicts himself.
It would have been nice to see what it looks like after its been healed.. but still a cool piece ty for sharing it
How can we avoid being treated like mindless cattle, if we're acting like one?
There needs to be a show that shows what people look like who do this 50 years after getting it done.
I didn't receive a video, but thanks for the effort. You should carry on with your life now.
As someone who has seen it with their own eyes, yes they do.
I had a boyfriend who burned me with a cigarette and that hurt like hell, can't imagine how awful hot metal must feel
Ok, what does this say about the person getting it done? It is part of our evolutionary success that we have learned to avoid danger. But also, what does it say about the person willing to inflict this kind of pain on someone else?
Corsets should be WAY up there..
That looks really cool, that guy has balls.
I've burnt myself many, many times before even as a young child, I'm a pyro but rarely I screw up and when I do, it sucks
I love this. Honestly, kudos to that dude. I want to get one in the near future, since I found out about a really good body mod artist out in Nanaimo BC
