      It’s literally an entire city which is ruined, and also shows us what Antiquity was like.

    I'm surprise "chichen itza", "The pyramids" of Egypt and "The Great Wall" of China weren't on the list. I'm even more surprise that "Montezuma castle" even made it on the list, That thing isn't even impressive.

  • @epicDuftbaum
    @epicDuftbaum 7 лет назад +8

    I hope there will be another list with ruins like Pyramids of Giza, Parthenon, The Great Wall of China, Masada, Karnak, Hagia Sophia, Jetavanaramaya or the Pantheon. Not something like this "Montezuma Castle", which was build around 1200 century AD. The Cheops Pyramid was build in third millenium BC, it is not even a debate. But I guess Americans would be pissed if there was no ruin from their country on this list...

    My dad took me to visit Angkor Wat when I first visit Cambodia in May 7th-28th, 2014. I took pictures of Angkor Wat with my cell phone and a camera. It was huge. So huge! My dad was born in that country. He speaks Khmer. Before he moved here in U.S.A. after Cambodian people escapes from Khmer Rouge. I'm lucky girl person to born in America. I'm the youngest in my family. I have 1 older brother and 2 older sisters. I'm Cambodian and Thai. I visited Cambodia in 2014 of May. I wasn't even born there in Cambodia. I never had been to Thailand before but we could try to visit there some day. My mom was born in Thailand, she's Thai. She knows how to speak both Thai and Khmer language. She moved here in U.S.A. when she was like 16 or 17 years old. I don't know how old she was when my mom moved to America after living Thailand. My dad and mom first met together in America in 1979. They Got Married. They got 4 kids (1 boy and 3 girls). They got divorced when I was 2 or 3 years old. Some day my dad would take my nephew and his girlfriend to see and visit Angkor Wat temple. We know my nephew hadn't been to Cambodia yet but he wants to. My older sister been visiting there Cambodia in around December 2011. She visited Angkor Wat.

    Wow, not even an honorable mention for Masada? As an actual archaeologist I'm highly disappointed in you, WatchMojo. A 2200 year old Hasmonean fortress and palace built on top of a mountain in the middle of the desert with a brilliant water delivery system (And even indoor plumbing for Herod's bathhouse) all while being right next door to the lowest surface point on planet Earth isn't impressive enough for you? It even comes complete with the largest example of a Roman siege ramp yet discovered.
    Not a single Egyptian site either. I know a lot of Egypt's sites are pretty cliche for these lists by now but Stonehenge even more so (I'm not saying Stonehenge isn't impressive, it's just on every list like this ever. Why not give some love to Luxor or The Valley of The Kings or Karnak?).

    • @angbaci
      @angbaci 7 лет назад +2

      Agree 100%. I'm bummed Hatra or Palmyra weren't mentioned.
      Nothing from the Mesopotamia region :(

    • @Mech610
      @Mech610 7 лет назад +1

      TheHuman Comalies Uhhh, Masada is NOT Nabatean. it's Hasmonean and Herodian as in Judean. I know this because I literally just finished excavating there in February (The first excavation at the site in 15 years, we were talked about in a lot of news sites). Preparation for the excavation involved taking a class on its entire history, Herod's relationship with Rome and how the site was built and managed. Both the excavation and the class were led and taught by the world's foremost expert on Masada, Dr. Guy Stiebel.
      Protip, Google things before you make claims like that, especially to someone who has actually studied site.

    • @Mech610
      @Mech610 7 лет назад

      Dylan Perry Go away, you're not funny, you're being obnoxious. The fact is we don't know very much about Puma Punku, nor when it was built or why. For all we know it was built after the 6th century CE which disqualifies it from this list.

    • @Mech610
      @Mech610 7 лет назад +3

      TheHuman Comalies What the fuck? Are you on drugs? How is anything I said 'religuously motivated' or 'Zionist'? I suppose Flavius Josephus, Emperor Vespasian and Titus were all part of the international Jewish conspiracy, were they?
      Find me a single peer reviewed, vetted citation from a reputable source to support your absurd 'Masada was Nabatean' claims. I'll wait. :)

    • @Mech610
      @Mech610 7 лет назад +2

      In the meantime, here's a few of MY citations because I know your feeble little brain will drive you to ask for them :)
      whc.unesco.org/en/list/1040
      "It was built as a palace complex, in the classic style of the early Roman Empire, by Herod the Great, King of Judaea, (reigned 37 - 4 B.C.)."
      "This is a site that remained untouched for more than thirteen centuries. The buildings and other evidence of human settlement gradually collapsed and were covered over until they were revealed in the 1960s. There have been no additions or reconstruction, beyond an acceptable level of anastylosis, and inappropriate materials used in early conservation projects are being replaced. Limited restoration works have been carried out to aid visitor interpretation with original archaeological levels being clearly defined by a prominent black line set in the new mortar joints. Certain significant archaeological elements, such as the Roman camps and siegeworks, remain virtually untouched. The authenticity is therefore of a very high level."
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masada
      "Josephus writes that the site was first fortified by Alexander Jannaeus in the first century BCE.[4] Herod the Great captured it in the power struggle that followed the death of his father Antipater.[4] It survived the siege of the last Hasmonean king Antigonus II Mattathias, who ruled with Parthian support.[4]"
      Total Article Citation Count: 57
      www.gutenberg.org/files/2850/2850-h/2850-h.htm
      'The Wars of The Jews' by Flavius Josephus, Book IV, Chapter 7, Paragraph 2.
      Those are some of my more layman sources which I figured your little bigoted brain would be able to understand, UNESCO, a highly cited aggregate article and someone who actually visited the site during the Great Revolt. What do you have?

    A list of 10 only monuments is impossible to be made for the whole world. So, I can understand if some monuments are left out of it. But there must have been some kind of criteria for the selection. They are unclear to me. In that sense, how do the pyramids of Ghiza, the Great Wall of China, or the Parthenon be left out, just to mention a few?

    Where's the great pyramid of Giza? Took them almost thirty years to build it in 2600BC and you can't see that beating a house in a wall?

    The Aztecs built a hall city over a lake, city that now has become one of the largest in the world in other hand Chichen-Itza is also one of the new 7 wonders. Not to mention Teotihuacan nor Greek and Chinese architecture. I may not agree with many of your tops, but this is the first time I believe you didn’t prepare properly.

    Ephesus is even mentioned in the Bible. Like a reading from the letter Of St Paul To The Ephesians.

    I don't agree with having things built in medieval times on a list for ANCIENT structures. I mean really the Parthenon, pyramids, sphinx, and the great wall weren't on here! Now do I think ALL of these should have been on the list? Maybe, maybe not, but some of them AT LEAST.

    Well, when they talk about "Ancient", you expect to hear about BC civilizations (unless you are from one of the new independent countries that appeared a few hundred years ago). But we don't see Giza pyramids, The Acropolis of Athens or Persian Susa and Persepolis here.
