Just bought mine, never driven in a big car but after watching some recap videos on driving bigger cars it was honestly no different than driving a corsa. I have never parked so well in my life because the parking sensors all around the car help lots (I have been a pretty lazy Parker in my old small car). The boot is actually really sizeable compared to the soft tops (vw bug) that I looked at for a similar price. For over £20000 you can be picky to be fair, for £3995 I couldn’t be more thrilled. The stereo is realllly loud which I love, the overall look is a head Turner especially for a young woman. It sits nicely on the road and I can imagine it’s very comfortable with long distance driving and cruise control. It’s got all the bells and whistles and I feel so lucky I found one in such good nick compared to the other convertibles I looked at with holes in the roof, not fab for British weather. Overall for the price I am super pleased it feels really luxe like I’m an old rich man in the Riviera, I wouldn’t want it any other way
I bought it’s predecessor a couple of weeks ago - €900 for and ‘07 and another €100 for a service. 60,000 miles only so the ‘ladies that lunch’ have done me a great favour by absorbing a lot of depreciation for my benefit. I find it infinitely more comfortable and relaxing to drive than the A6 Avant I was driving before it. The most relaxed drive I’ve ever had with no need to hurry to get there. I bought and ‘06 a couple of days ago and, after doing a few little jobs on it, I’ll sell it on to someone in the queue to buy the one they’ve seen me driving. It’s possibly the only one I can put my guitar into the boot and still fold the roof. I wasn’t expecting much and, while it’s very different the the mark 1 mx5 I had a long time ago, in its own way, I like it as much. I’ve driven about 1000 miles in the fortnight and have become a little obsessed with the litre per 100km reading, challenging myself to get it down. Average is 6.7 and best - over a 128km trip, largely on country roads, 6.0 - 47mpg. Hope I feel the same in a couple of years time.
PS - the mark 2 has usable cup holders in front of the gear lever and also each side pocket can be used as such. The glovebox can easily take a two litre water bottle and may a hundred pairs of gloves too.
I recent picked up a 2010 Megane CC, the stereo in it is a lot more simplistic and there's no in-built satnav. Honstly? Massive improvement. I just use my phone for GPS, (the built-in bluetooth means I can use my phone for music, too) and the reduction in bulk on the center console means that the cup holders actually work as intended - amazing how that pans out!
stevogames123 I have the petrol engine: Its a fantastic cruiser but not a Porsche;-) nevertheless: likely the only trully 4 seats cabriolet you may also enjoy in winter.
Considering how much money car manufactures spend on developing new models, I find it strange that they often leaves us with some fairly obvious interior flaws......
I'm thinking about the 1.5dci with 105 horsepower. What's your take on it? Do you still have the car? I'm guessing it's reliable and should do good fuel consumptions, at least that's what expected from 1.5dci engines.
Scuttle shake??? Relatively minor in comparison to audis and bmws, and for the price point of the megaine, the build quality is excellent, and when the roof is up, it dose'nt creak like the mercedes slk, its incredibly quite and serene.
No cup holder? Awwwwww. Lol. What's wrong with people these days? As for the boot not having much space when the all hood is down? Well...lol. It's a convertible!!! Where did expect the roof to go mate? Under the car? And the (integrated Tom Tom) so what that's not a touch screen you apple freak!! Most cars these days don't even come with a Tom Tom, only the top range ones do. A basic model Dacia Duster for example that will set you back £10.000 pounds for a brand new, don't even come with a radio. Lol.
But he was approaching these issues from a (as your main car), can you live with these limitations" prospective... obviously anyone buying a convertible is making some sacrifices and these things are to be expected (limited boot space, scuttle and shake on the windowshield and frame over bumps etc.. but the lack of a proper cup holder is unforgivable j/k lol
It's illegal to fit a backward facing car seat in the rear. The seat won't fit simply because it's made for the front seat. It's also dangerous to do so. It'll fit in the front of the Mégane. However you can fit a forward facing child seat in the rear by using the Isofix anchors which is also present in the front passenger seat. I hope I helped you out and don't try risking fitting your backwards child seat in the rear, it's not worth it and you could get fined and may put a risk on your child.
It's strongest selling point is the glass roof. I would rarely open up the roof of this car. So buying one, for me at least, is out of the question. PS: cupholders are ridiculous.
Drove this for the first time yesterday. Holy crap that interior is horrible. And that multimedia interface is impossible to use. I couldn't work out how to connect my bluetooth.
@@mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm420 it was good. I loved that car and never had any major problems with it. I'd probably still have it now if I was still doing the same job as when I bought the car, but I moved into a job that came with a company van. I'm not allowed to use the van for personal use, but I hardly do any personal mileage these days and I figured it wasn't worth paying the tax and insurance on a car like that when I'm hardly using it. I sold it in 2015 and got myself a VW Up which is dirt cheap to insure and only £20 per year in tax! 🤣

I bought this car, I was paranoid at first, but turns out it is a pretty good car for a single straight guy.
Is the Ferrari California of normal people, a convertible who you actually can bought
tysonuk good First car?
British motoring journalists have a weird obsession with cupholders...

One of the best car reviews I've ever seen! Really gives you a sense of being in the car with him, and tells you everything you need to know.
Paul and Ancila how many airbags does it have?
What is the mpg?
Still beautiful in 2018 : happy since 2013 and 60k Km.
RonSommar I’m thinking of getting one , is it quick?
stevogames123 I have the petrol engine: Its a fantastic cruiser but not a Porsche;-) nevertheless: likely the only trully 4 seats cabriolet you may also enjoy in winter.
RonSommar hi mate , I decided not to get one and went totally opposite , got a Saab 9-5 estate 1.9 tdi haha , great car
@@stevogames1236 Indeed! The Saab is beautiful one - unfortunately quite rare here in Germany
RonSommar really ? rare in the U.K. too !!!
dont see the need for cup holders ,meant to be driving not having a picnic
@Jigsjigz
i think panel gap is proof of how well the car is build.
it's all in the details ;)
Great review, but didn't tell you if the back seats fold down to allow more boot space. Anyone?
I'm sure you found out somewhere else in the last seven years, but just in case, no.
Behind the rear seats is a structural bulkhead.
Hello! How is possible to activate the function for roof opening from the key? Mine dosent work now.
Considering how much money car manufactures spend on developing new models, I find it strange that they often leaves us with some fairly obvious interior flaws......
Where is the mark 2 review ?@!?!?!?@
Decent review tbh. The cup holder not working is a valid point. Looking to buy a new car myself and I'd love a can with a powered hardtop.
Lee Bradley I think Guinness might do something like that - maybe I dreamt it.
I wonder how many times the folding hardtop will work
Again a review where the tester doesn't test the back seat. And as for the luggage, those 200L are just fine.
I have this car, and I love it to Death. I have the 2007 one and it is great.

@J J Thanks for the reply!
Why don't they make a fast version of this like the normal one, you know, like an rs convertible or something like that
MX-5 whats the costs? same 20.000?
I kinda suspect the same top will be used on the Murano.
Scuttle shake??? Relatively minor in comparison to audis and bmws, and for the price point of the megaine, the build quality is excellent, and when the roof is up, it dose'nt creak like the mercedes slk, its incredibly quite and serene.

The cup holder is meant to be for a can
I wish the RS250 Megane was CC as well. Maybe one day...
I never knew, that Renault made gen 3 Megane Convertible
Anyone know if a backward facing child seat will fit in the back seat if the front seat is pulled all the way forward?
It's illegal to fit a backward facing car seat in the rear. The seat won't fit simply because it's made for the front seat. It's also dangerous to do so. It'll fit in the front of the Mégane. Why don't the designers see stupid mistakes like a misplaced cup holder?
Amazing car❤
@leeghanger i agree i hate huge gaps
I thought this guy would like a feeling of girth
Please fire this guy...
So basicly you'd be insane to but this over a Volvo V70.
Some journalist consider this car as bad as it can be posible: like this one automotosvijet2009 channel
Ooops I meanC70 not V70.

i don't know what it is but i just can't stand this guy
It can be very clever and tidy, but it will always be a Renault.
@Ubergood And yet those who are actually looking to buy such a car are not.
£24k eh? Haha I'm picking up a pre-registered one that's only done 20 miles on Friday for £16k :D
