The scariest thing about this concept is that even if you do pass it along, you still have to be on the lookout for the rest of your life. Because just as it follows people down the line, it does it back if and when those people die. So even if there are 50 people after you, that doesn’t guarantee you’re in the clear. If it gets those people or some die naturally it can still trickle back down to you
One of my favorite horror movies of the last 20 years. I love everything about this movie, the premise, script, the camerawork, editing, acting, the score (I got the soundtrack btw on CD), and especially the production design and costumes (old and modern clothes and devices mixed up, but also things that doesn't even excists as far as I know, like that E-book shell), it almost feels like this movie plays in a parallel universe, or it is just an incredible scary dream. Great reaction, Rob!
I feel like the old 80s setting being mixed with modern times is trying to tell us something. I also noticed that the adults in the movie are barely present with almost no diologe. I believe the movie may be saying that this new generation still lives in the adults old world but with new dangers that the adults generation didn't have. It reminded me of how many older generation cant see the evil in this world because they are so used to living in a 80s family sitcom life.
This is a cool flick, creepy and definitely has a John Carpenter feel, especially the music. I was wondering if you have ever seen Wolfen, Near Dark or The Brood? All three are underrated classics imo.👍🔥
wolfen is cool... love the ending too..use to air during halloween on amc, i own near dark, and the brood scared the hell out of me as a kid..i had been searching for it for 30 years cuz no one seemed to know..i was convinced it was a fever dream cuz it did give me nightmares.
Great reaction video to this movie, it really creeped me out and you did a good job not diminishing its impact for jokes or unnecessary comments, you were really into it and saying only insightful stuff! 👌
The best horror flick of the 21st century so far imo. Random trivia: the movie theater in the beginning is where The Evil Dead premiered in 1981 as "Book of the Dead" before it got picked up for distribution. Takes place in Detroit, which is why neighborhoods look the same as in Don't Breathe which also takes place there.
I love that the movie gives off strong 80s vibes, but let you know it's set in present day with anachronisms sprinkled in here and there. Also, the creep factor is a 10 in this movie. There are no spooky monsters, no overtly supernatural occurrences, no cheap jump scares, just slow building 'creeps.'
This was imo the best newer horror movie I'd seen in a while when it came out. I recommended it to everyone, but trying to explain the plot, everyone was like ah nah ill pass. But it was such a cool movie in so many ways.
It's an interesting movie, I really enjoyed how the scenery & the aesthetic of the time looks. I heard while it's meant to look like the 80s or something it has snippets of the future.(Like that one friend's double screen touch screen thing that looks like a shell mirror)
I liked this film, cool and different, even tho that tall man in the hallway scared me so bad I threw my sub. I was pissed cause it was hitting too lol. Can't wait for spook tober movies. Your reactions are awesome
Another one I haven’t got around to seeing but honestly I get heavy John Carpenter vibes from this with a little Wes Craven thrown in. Not a bad flick though, I like how it’s kinda timeless you don’t really know what time of year it is or even what year it takes place. BTW have you seen Frank Henenlotter’s Brain Damage? It’s a cheesy low-budget horror but I think you’d dig it. I believe it’s free on here last time I checked.
Great stuff, Rob, but I'm curious.. How many of the following horrors and SF/horrors have you already seen? I'm spanning the decades from the 1970's to the 2010's. The Exorcist (1973), The Omen (1976), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Alien (1979), The Shining (1980), John Carpenter's The Thing (1982), Aliens (1986), The Fly (1986), Jacob's Ladder (1990), Fire in the Sky (1993), Event Horizon (1997), Stir of Echoes (1999), 28 Days Later (2002), Signs (2002), Slither (2006), Cloverfield (2008), Black Swan (2010), Under the Skin (2013), Mother (2017), Annihilation (2018).
Thanks for the comment Ed! Out of those I haven't seen Fire in the Sky, Stir of Echoes, Under The Skin, Mother and the original Omen. Which one of those would you recommend I check out in October if you could only pick one?
@@therobw when u said a cat can jump out and scare u made me think of dean in supernatural when that spell made him ultra sensitive and he finds the kitten in the locker and belts out the most hilarious scream i ever heard...u can see the camera man shake and jump back.. jensen ackles did that on his own and sam's reaction was real.🤣
I definitely would’ve recommended this one to you, one of my favorites along with The Guest. If you have time somewhere down the line, check out Hatchet, it’ll be a good popcorn flick. Loved the review of this 🦾
Yeah man this was a blind spot for me. Glad I checked it out. Still waiting on your one MUST WATCH recommendation. I’ll definitely react to it for the channel in October.
Say what you will about the movie because everyone has their own opinion. But you have to give it credit for trying something new. When others are just making reboots and remakes sequels or prequels. They did their own thing. Theres nothing wrong with this movie creeping you out. I mean I can what's some truly nightmare making stuff. But not get creeped out like Halloween Party 2019. Thats got some creepy stuff in it and truly messed up stuff. To Terrifier wich is a true hardcore slasher movie. I mean two RUclipsrs said that they wish they could show the kills. But RUclips would demonetize the video in a heartbeat thats how. Brutal bloody an gory they are one of the RUclipsrs is. The Horror Geek the other one has a Channel called Dead Meat he does kill. Counts he made has patreon version of the video free to watch for that movie. Other then that he would not be able to show the kills. Regardless if it's monetized or not he just wanted people to see the kills if they wished to. The point is I can watch those an watch the movie Come Play wich is pg-13 an still get creeped out. So a movie can be creepy regardless of its rating. If the ones that made it set up the right atmosphere. I'm also giving two new horror movies a shot this October one is Funhouse. Basic premise people go on a ' reality' show but it's. From the description it's like big brother but you are playing for your life. Then the other one is Haunt some friends go to an extreme haunted house. In the middle of nowhere I can't wait to see what goes wrong.
When you said Funhouse I got excited cause I’m planning on checking out the 80’s version for the first time in the next couple weeks. I’ll have to look into Haunt. Thanks for watching Matt!
I’ve been meaning to get to that for the last few months…keep getting sidetracked. It’ll go done in the next couple weeks Jonny thanks for the reminder.
@@therobw no worries. Was just curious because you're one of the few people that actually do decent movies and you seemed to enjoy the first two. Or at least like horror movies. No rush though. Spot on Pete! The movie does seem like some crazy fever dream. Really dug this flick and I’m glad you liked the reaction.
@@therobw indeed like a crazy fever dream, of Maika Monroe's character, who actually has STD, or is afraid to get STD....
