I'm so glad I found your channel! My GI doctor put me on a fodmap diet. I had never heard of it before. I have IBS. I was diagnosed in 2006 and have tried every diet possible to help my symptoms. So I have been trying to learn as much as possible about the formal diet. Your videos have been incredibly helpful!

Thanks Beccy. This was really handy especially explaining to others about the ins and outs of the diet. The “blueberry” example you used is the one I’ve still struggling with but getting there with time. I’m also slowly introducing things back Into my diet as I’ve been quite restricted for a while due to a terrible tummy. Avocados and fodmap friendly bread. Going good so far. Can’t wait to see your next video xxx

So true about the blueberries! I feel like there should be another word for “low FODMAP” when it’s only a little portion 😅 xx

thank you- super helpful! one more tip that I wish I’d known- use multiple sources of information about the FODMAP values and categories for different foods. There is a lot of misinformation, outdated info, and contradictory info out there- and I have been misled into terrible attacks a number of times by well-intentioned blogs.

I've been on this diet for quite some time and you are so on point!
The only thing I go out to eat is Sushi which works for me as it's so simple.
During re-introduction, I wish there were more free resources about what foods belong in what FODMAP category/categories. I haven't been able to find a list of which foods contain which FODMAPS...which makes navigating that stage really anxiety inducing.

Thank you so much! I’m starting on Tuesday. I already eat gf, dairy free and refined sugar free so I’m half way there. But I didn’t know about the portion sizes so thank you for the heads up. I shopped for s bunch of the recipes you’ve posted too so thank you so much!

I'm vegan doing low fodmap and it's pretty hard. Protein powder feels like a must to reach protein goals everyday. Tofu and tempeh are great but very limited. I'm only on my second week and things feel like they're getting easier to do. My go-to snack is a rice cake with peanut butter, which may not sound like much but I look forward to it everyday. I went veg when I was 12 then at 20 vegan for the animals (so I can't even imagine going back to eating them) and for a little while I felt fine until three years ago. It was like a switch was flipped in my gut and I woke up one day in agony and and it never stopped. Yesterday was my first day in about three years I went about 70% of the day pain free. So as hard as it is, it is worth it.

Thanks so much! It's defo possible as a veggie, but the restriction phase will be a little trickier. But if you know all the correct serving sizes of your fruits/veggies then you should be good to go. Let me know if you need any help with anything! x

Good vegan sources of protein are shelled hemp seeds and microgreens (e.g. broccoli, alfalfa sprouts) as they are low in fibre :) I'm no longer vegan but I also tried low FODMAP as a vegan so I hope this is helpful. Around 1tsp-1tbsp hemp seeds is probably a good amount to have to avoid discomfort.

I've discovered the wonderful world of tomato paste to use for spaghetti so I can avoid the onion and garlic in tomato sauce. I've just eaten 2 whole small potato chips for the first time after a long time and it was fine enough but these two nodules on my gums swelled up terribly while I slept. So I don't know what that's about, but since this started I've had those nodules for a while. Blueberries I'm able to have one or two a day or five a week. I couldn't eat 20 in one sitting, I'd be screwed quick. I have a hard time eating white bread that isn't toasted and it has to be this specific type or I can't eat bread at all without hurting from it. So I'm looking for recipes for bread, and I'm trying to just accept the pain so I can get fiber into me because I'm IBS-C. I still wonder about corn chips and about cereal, because I wanna try gorilla munch and amazon flakes and erewhon or something like that corn flakes. I'm hurting for cereal, so fingers crossed.

It's so hard to find things that fit what you can actually eat, whilst still getting enough fibre and everything, isn't it? Let me know if you find any decent cereal! x

I have IBS-C and have improved by limiting rather than adding fibre. The only fibre I get is from small portions of cooked salad greens, herbs, cooked carrots/pumpkin. I always have white jasmine rice as it is easy for me to digest, and get vitamin c from salad greens and lemon/lime juice. 20 blueberries would be unmanageable for me too! I find that if I cut an apple into 8 and peel it, I can have 1/8 cooked apple without trouble!

Becky Excell. I've finally made the decision to cut out wheat as I must be reacting to something I'm eating daily but I can't tell what. So wheat first and then milk. Your tips are so helpful and I really appreciate them xx

hi, becky! i know - it is a very onion/garlic world. i remember when we worked with our sons food allergies YEARS ago - it was a basic eliminating top allergens diet. do you know how much contains corn products? anyway - as usual, i have digress. thanks for a very informative video. i hope you are doing well - i'm still working with probiotics - supplements and greek yogurt. some improvement in my gut - btw, i got the gut book! arrived yesterday and haven't started it yet. i haven't gone low fodmap at present. take care - have a wonderful week. ~k

I'm gluten free, vegan and need to go low fodmap because of the constant bloating... So there is not much left to eat after this

  • @irenelr544
    @irenelr544 2 года назад

That is not true. IBS is an umbrella of symptoms and if you find the root cause, the symptoms can go away. A low FODMAP diet might help, but it won't solve your problem if you don't know what causes the symptoms.

It varies depending on the type of sugar of course, but here's a link that tells you what is and isn't low fodmap x alittlebityummy.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-low-fodmap-sugars-sweeteners/
