I adore how casually ADHD considerate this video is! So many times where you directly described something that can often be an ADHD challenge, and then explained how brain dumping helps or how to account for it in the brain dumping process 💖
Yesssss! This is definitely a video I've been waiting for. Sometimes when I'm brain dumping I'm like wait do I even have any thoughts?? When the rest of the time I have wayy too many thoughts
You could try having a brain dump list throughout the week so that you can put there whatever comes to mind. And complete it by the end of the week. :)
@@DasOrangensaft. that's what I currently do! just add to the list when I think of things instead of trying to think of everything at once. I guess the issue comes in comparing myself to others. and also when I think of something and then forget it by the time i go to write it haha
That was such a helpful video!! You don’t know how loud I said „yes, please!!!“ when you said „just do it doesn’t work- instead, how …“ Your‘re really (imo) the only one breaking down what seems a small topic to different elements. After watching I feel really like I learned something that I can actually use! Thanks so much Jess ❤
😅 one of my favourite t-shirt say exactly that: "my brain is like my browser, I have 19 tabs open, 3 of them are frozen, and I have no idea where the music is coming from"😂
I watched this video and thought "that's a LOT." That would drive me crazy, but the more I thought about it, the more I was like, "Maybe..." And the other day when I was waiting for my kid at an appointment, I thought "WTH. I'm not doing anything." And before the appointment was over I had almost 2 pages of stuff. And... I was overwhelmed. The next couple of days, if I thought of something I'd add it to the list. Then I was watching TV and thought, "I wonder if I could categorize these." And instead of mindlessly playing on my phone while watching TV. And I did. And now this weekend I did 3 of my "one off" tasks that have been bugging me for months. So now I think I'm going to move everything to lists. Thank you Jess for sharing your thought process. And I went right over and subscribed to your Patreon. ❤
Most welcome and glad it was helpful 💜 I find that doing this process regularly is helpful. Some times there will be HEAPS to add, other times it's just be a bit 💪 Glad to have you as part of the Patreon Team 😄🥳
I JUST noticed the way you hold your pen is how I do it to! Leaning the pen on your ring finger, the only difference is that I hold it in my left hand. I always have seen people lean their pen on their middle finger! Now on topic of the video, this is very helpful. I have been piling quite a lot of tasks and things I want to do or left unfinished as something of a higher priority came up (or I'm not feeling mentally 'ok' to get stuff done). So a lot of things I want to do I am trying so hard to remember, but that creates the 'multiple open tabs' in my head. I may want order and routine as an autistic person, but often times do I put a task to the side as there isn't enough time for me to spend on doing them or it's not the right day.
Going to make a desk sign that says "Good on you, you had a thought, write it down." to go up next to "Done > Perfect." I used this video as my timer and went for it with my end of the week dump, I call them a clean sweep.
Great video . Where do you write your brain dump ? I only use one journal for everything and usually plan all the weeks at the beginning of the month . Would you suggest planning in a page per week for a brain dump ?
Depending on how messy I want to be with my brain dump, I will either do it in my bullet journal, or I will use a separate messy notebook 😊💜 as I make my daily and weekly pages as I go, I normally just put my brain dumps in amongst those. But if I have pre-planned my weeks, I will either assign a space within that for the brain dump, or I will just use the messy notebook 💪
Or you could use some extra loose paper and put it in the front or back of your notebook. Or even tape it in so that you can flip it out while you are on another page. And when you took care of the list you just put in a new loose sheet.
I like the term brain dumping because then I don’t feel bad when I write stupid stuff down cause it’s a dump. So when I write drink water or do the thing with the plants I don’t feel bad. Words are hard when your brain is full.
Typically they just get stored on my shelves 😄 I like to keep them for reference, in particular for video making where I want to show an example of something, so I might be a "special case" with regards to the reasoning 😝
@@JashiiCorrinThat’s cool. The covers are so pretty you don’t want to throw them away, I would never be able to throw away something so pretty either lol. I am thinking about ordering one soon, I’ve never had an archer and olive, or any of the other brands you have used, I have only used Walmart brands mostly, and my Walmart doesn’t carry dot grid journals. I can’t wait to get my first book :). I’ll be watching a lot of your videos over again when I get one 😊. Thank you for being so helpful with all of your videos. ❤
"Good on you, you had a thought" is definitely the kind of positive self-talk I can identify with 😂
Literally just what I need some times 😂

Aww yay! 💜I was trying to be conscious to keep our ADHD team members in mind, so I'm glad that came across 😄 Thanks Simeneky!
I'm not diagnosed but I'm fairly sure I have adhd and this video is really useful! 😊
Glad it was useful! 😄💜 I’m lowkey convinced that I have ADHD too 😝
I have adhd and it presents hyperactive and inattentive. It literally brings me to a stand still!
That's tough! Do you have any strategies that you use to manage it at the moment? 🤔💜

Totally feel you on that 👏 Some days I can fill multiple pages with my brain dumping, other days it's page-crickets 🦗

Love that you have a shirt with it 😝 it’s very much like that feeling sometimes! 😂
Another single-topic winning video! Helpful, supportive, concise. Perfect. 🤩
Glad you liked it! 😄💜 Thanks!
Loving these short focussed videos you are doing a great job and helping me a lot
Most welcome! 😄💜 Glad you liked it!
As usual you never miss. Brain dumping is one of my all time favorites and this is a beautiful explanation of why it works!!
Thanks Rachelle! 😄💜
I notice I open tabs to remember to do things so when I have more then 10 tabs open I go to my brain dump to make notes and close tabs
That's a good habit to be in! 😄💪
Wow that is such a good and disciplined way to manage that!
My brain dump is a few things sporadically and I have a whole page in my monthly always left open for my randomness.
Good idea 💪 I found last month that I really needed one of those, so I've included it for September 💜😄

I need to show my students this!!
Hope they find it useful! 💜
Mind Unwind - this is how I will call it from now 😊
That’s my favourite term for it, yeah 😄💜

Awesome video, sadly the link to the trigger list seems to be broken?
Not sure if she fixed it already, but it works for me 😊
Hopefully it's working now 🤔 glad you liked the video though! 💜

Brain dump from this video: your lashes are pretty

I love that 😄💜
