If this same boost was used in a matchmaking game, would the players be disqualified and lose? No. Obviously I know it is a bit different because at DreamHack money is on the line. The developers of Overpass made a mistake when they created the map that resulted in this boost existing. If anyone is at fault, it is the CSGO developers (Valve), not fnatic for using something that exists on a map they did not create.

it's a glitch because it's not supposed to be there. It depends on an invisible texture that somebody didn't bother to remove. The other bit was that you are almost invincible there. You'd have to receive 7 headshots to die.
i belive it is because a 3 man boost should not be able, since you can't do 3 mans boost normaly. but still, it was a sick move and i wished they could let that fnatic continue on
there is nothing wrong with 3 man boosts if you can figure out a way to do it. The problem here was that 1. he was nearly invincible due to the hitboxes when boosted, and 2. the player that olof is standing on is on an invisible pixel, making it a pixel boost, which is against the tournament rules.
There are boost spots in the game which have been created and players are allowed to use. This is a glitch spot. It is obviously a glitch spot as you can see the entire map giving the T's no chance to do anything. If you think they should have been allowed to continue you're an idiot.
They should have let fnatic take the win because of how amazing this play was then edited the map after to stop it from happening in future tournaments

Nah, not only was it against the rules but also these teams actually work closely with the developers to fix balance issues and bugs, it's completely unethnical for them to have hidden this bug to exploit in an international tournament which valve was involved in running/organising with millions of dollars on the line and frankly they are lucky they didn't get a harsher penalty.

Is it a huge advantage? Yes. Should they have been penalized for it? I don't think so.
Valve made this map and obviously never thought about something like that to happen. You can't blame Fnatic, or any other team/player, for Valve doing a "sloppy" job on the maps. Fnatic somehow found this boost and used it. If other teams would've known about it they would've used it too. After all every team is looking for useful boosts to get an advantage.
Lost 1400€ because of this boost, which got fnatic disqualified.

Ahmad Rafaie they were asked to rematch because the boost used pixel walking and involved broken textures, which was against the rules in that tournament.

if you look at this logically, it's the tournament organiser and map designers's fault for having this exploit possible in the first place. Fnatic finding the loop hole to exploit is technically not their fault.

So first off they weren't DQ, they were going to have a rematch on the map, but fnatic decided to forfeit due to bad backlash from the community, And in the tourny rules, not valve rules which are 2 different things, they said that pixel walking is not allowed, or the use of any glitches that alter hit boxes and textures, which this boost was abusing, and therefore the match was to be restarted

riksu02 No, because in that spot you were invulnerable from certain angles and also some parts of the map were glitching so you could see through. According to the officials, Fnatic didn't take advantage of any of these things, but because it was a possibility in the boost, it was still disallowed. LDLC had a boost that used the same glitches.

Granted they are pixel-walking which is against the rules. But even if they weren't people would still say the same thing saying it's too overpowering and unfair.
To understand what happened here you need to understand that a large part of the CS:GO community hates fnatic and has continuously attacked them for every little thing they do. In other words they actively look for any little thing that would allow them to be offended and justify their hate.
Turning back the clock to Dreamhack Winter 2014. Its LDLC vs the number one team in the world at the time, Fnatic. LDLC has been hyped for months as the 5 man all stars team that will FINALLY dethrone Fnatic as the reigning champions. In other words this is the most anticipated match in the entire tournament where the two main teams which is so far above everyone else meet.
Fans tune in from all over the world and allot of them want to see Fnatic crushed because of recent made up scandals which quite honestly is nothing more then baseless slander.. still it is nonetheless effective in rustling the jimmies of the fans. The first half of the game turns into a disaster for Fnatic and they are outplayed in pretty much every single way which get the fans really rustled up and exited to see their dream come true and a justification in their belief that LDLC is better then Fnatic.
The first half ends in 13-2 for LDLC and the world wants to see Fnatic crash and burn... except it does not happen. Fnatic pulls off an insane winstreak against a supposed better team by using a new (arguably) game-breaking boost. After having to watch that painful degeneration of LDLC as well as the reaction of the LDLC team-members on Twitter/facebook where they throw a temper tantrum the fans take up their pitchforks and head for the internet forums to figure out what went down.
Because of uproar from the fans Dreamhack launches a full-scale investigation into the boost which will uncover a bunch of things (more on that later). Because the investigation basically turned into a portal into Narnia the teams are told that they can go home for today because they wont be able to finalise their findings in time for any decisions that same day. Due to an interpretation error LDLC interprets this as Dreamhack *ordering* them to return back to their hotels. This in combination with Fnatic which decided to stay because they did not misunderstand what Dreamhack said makes LDLC and the fans convinced that Dreamhack is conspiring with Fnatic because they only allowed them to participate in the investigation... which I am not even sure they did.. but that is irrelevant for right now.
Upset about the result of a "worse" team beating them and the perceived conspiracy the LDLC members took to twitter/facebook again to vent their feelings which is quite honestly not that professional. Fnatic and Dreamhack on the other hand chose to stay mostly quiet to wait for the result of Dreamhacks investigation and ruling which is how professionals should act in these cases to have a fair outcome and not rile up emotions which is so often mislead.
Meanwhile on the internet the fans distraught by LDLCs comments on Twitter/facebook becomes outraged when they hear about how Dreamhack supposedly treated LDLC by sending them home etc.. as well as them digging up the rulebook for Dreamhack *Summer* 2014 where there was a rule against pixel-walking which Fnatic used.
Pro-players and commentators speak out against Fnatic for unsportamship at this point and it became a real big mess.
The day after Dreamhack releases their investigation and decision which reveals that according to the rules of Dreamhack *Winter* 2014 Pixel walking was Legal but there was other problems with the boost which included the ability to see through the map through an area without texture, the ability to see T-Spawn (basically a 2-3 cm window where you can see a foot or so) and a few angles where you can not be shoot from or shoot others while still be seen. Basically "Invincibility angles" where bullets cant penetrate but they are still transparent.
Things to note here is that none of these things were shown in the game or used by Fnatic to win.
Their investigation and ruling concluded that both Fnatics boost and a similar boost that LDLC had used previously broke against the same rules so the game would be replayed and all boosts from there would be banned until further notice.
Of course the fans who only read the short-form "the match will be replayed because Fnatic (and LDLC) was found guilty" was outraged because the judges did not give the the win to LDLC and became further convinced that there was a conspiracy between Fnatic and Dreamhack since they clearly had the (out-dated) rulebook. This is further made worse because LDLC themselves was never given the new rulebook which their manager should be responsible for getting.
You can imagine how this turned out.
Shortly after Fnatic announced they would drop out because they felt terrible and could not enjoy playing in the tournament anymore.
Of course this did not stop the fans from still being outraged because no one can tell the internet not to be offended. They kept digging and found that the boost had also been discovered by a group of Swedes who posted it on RUclips before the tournament. The thing is they had taken the video down because of a request made by Fnatic to keep it secret which they did. Fun thing is I know of these guys through my brother btw ^_^
Anyway by now the fans were frothing by their mouth saying that Fnatic should have reported it to Valve instead of keeping it secret for their own benefit as well how they "bullied" the RUclipsr to take down his video.
And round and round the hate-train goes.

I say that this is a VERY smart play from Fnatic but also very cowardly and i believe that if they didnt pay the guy to take it off youtube then it would be ok because other teams would know but because it gave them an unfair advantage i am happy they forfeited.

Fnatic did not cheat, if you see something you can exploit and is not against the rules then you use it. It is Valve's and Dreamhack's fault for using a glitchy map in a major championship
For a traditional sports example: the shift in baseball, where you adjust your infield to the left side against a hitter than drives the ball to the left most times. Is it unfair to the batter yes, but it is not illegal.

How is what someone else has done relevant to the point that I made? It's in the rules that pixel walking is illegal. Who they choose to penalize for breaking those rules is up to them. I agree LDLC should have been punished for it too, but if you're a pro playing at such a high level, you should be able to tell that a spot that looks across the entire map, and causes you to be invincible from certain angles, is illegal. They knew what they were doing was wrong and they did it anyway. No excuses.

So lets say you are a Olympic runner and you not only represent your nation but also the people who quite literally bet a fortune on you winning. You are also on the homestretch and you are far behind the person in front of you.. Granted that is mostly irrelevant and only a factor because CS has two half's and that boost can only be used from one side but it do put you under a greater pressure.. anyway you KNOW you can do better by doing something completely new and unexpected. Lets say you knew the track tilted downward and you could get to the goal faster by bunny hopping just for arguments sake.
Is it REALLY sportsmanship-like to decide NOT to not "run" as fast as you can. Do you really respect your fellow sprinters by not using every little thing in your arsenal to win and what about the fans who not only cheer for you but even bet their money on you winning. Do you really respect them?

They were not actually disqualified, they were supposed to have a rematch, but fnatic gave up their chance as they thought it was unfair to LDLC. The boost was illegal as it enabled Olof to see through some walls, which is against the rules. This should be common knowledge.

Pixel walking wasn't allowed during Dreamhack summer, it was allowed during Dreamhack winter.
CraftedFPS Actually the story is quite twisted. The rulebook was never given to ANY of the Teams at the event. The rulebook was assumed by everyone to be the same from Dreamhack Summer 2014 since they never gave them one. Pixel walking was banned in DH Summer but apparently became "Legal" then they made it illegal. You can assume what you want with that. The fact of the matter is that the rules were never expressed or given to ANY team. DH Admins cant even enforce their own rules be it swayed by fnatic while they sent LDLC away or they are just incompetent. They made up fake rules to counter LDLC so fnatic wouldn't get dq'd.
