@@mr_exia Fnatic would kind of be fighting a losing battle really. In replaying the match, everyone is happy except them. Angry fans and commenters feel vindicated in their opinions that Fnatic's boost was unfair, and LDLC get a free redo to try and move on in tournament, while Fnatic can only lose out. If they win, they had to play a whole extra match under stressful conditions which they would likely feel a bit pessimistic about - you would too if you won something and then were told it didn't count, this time for real. And if they lose, they continue to receive hate and ridicule because people will say they only won because of the boost - not thinking about the practice and labbing to even figure that boost out and make it effective. I agree. I've been watching pro CS since 2002 and this moment deserved to be memorized as one of, if the THE greatest in all of CS history. It's a damn shame the amount of hate fnatic got for it and that they were not allowed to progress to the next round after pulling off something truly historic and memorable. Thinking outside of the box should be celebrated, not punished.

When they found that boost in practice they probably felt like genius CS innovators, and then to have community backlash on that level... That had to be hell.
I see competition as a competition, to succeed you need skill and map knowledge, if theres a way to get the upper hand i see no reason to not use it, it was ingenious, i see someone saying, well they went out of their way to hide it from people so they could abuse it, to me thats the same as saying that all teams are required to release all their strategies so the playing field is level, any strategy should be kept secret to be abused thats the whole point, if teh enemy knows ur strategy then they can work around it defeating the strat. They arent evil, theyre human and smart.
Kory Burch Fnatic knew that the boost was definitely unintentional and only usable once as a surprise and that when they used it that it would soon be fixed. It may technically should have been legal to use it was just a get out of jail card only usable once but just cheap and dishonorable and I believe that fnatic deserved the backlash they received
Dillion McGee I’d say yes it was unintentional but unfair? The only reason it worked so well is because of how unknown it was, calling it unfair would imply that one team knowing certain aspects of the map the other team didn’t is automatically cheating, in reality they just knew the map better. The backlash they got was simply people who were: 1. upset that their team lost to a strat they didn’t know about and they didn’t stand a chance and 2. It was so one sided that logical thinking left the room
Dillion they received death threats because of it, and LDLC used a similar method so it should have either been totally replayed from 0-0 like the admins wanted or Fnatic should have won
it is an ace in the hole for fnatic. just cause nobody knows bout that strategy and everyone deemed it illegal. im not a fan of either team but what fnatic did was really smart and this was why LDLC was considered the second best at that time.
Why is it that everytime players break from the mold in a game by figuring something out for themselves, people always end up hating it, saying its cheating or cheap?

That's very simple, I figured it out as soon as I entered gaming. You see the gamer species is a result of a dumb mutation caused by mixing sheep CUM with man CUM. The moment something has picked up steam, everyone follows the herd. It's the same idiots who say cs 1.6 is better than go in every possible way!. They don't have their own eyes. As you said it's valve's fault, but they got away silently. Here's another good example, GC prices. Idiot gamers (Not the few sane ones) hate on individual basement miners instead of just the mining companies. Whereas the mining companies and manufacturers are getting away with it. Infact the manufacturers who are the real crooks who market and fool the shit of gamers. Oh then there's gaming headsets, earphones & chairs & the gaming mousepads from big name brands like steelseries & razor.
clever use of game mechanics. i think there's a texture bug that doesn't allow the enemy team to see the person being boosted, but that falls on the devs to fix.
TBF, fountain hooking was pretty common knowledge but just very hard for most players to pull off, along with pudge being a really YOLO pick in competitive play. This boost legit confused the hell out of LDLC.
Honestly i thought both boosts were smart and intelligent to play. It took LDLC ages to figure our Fnatic's secret. However, if people complain and Fnatic for it, then they should find themselves on a hypocritical side. LDLC used a similar boost too that gave them an advantage. Some people just take a side instantly.

Bro that shit doesn't envolve IQ probably they discovered and was like wow we can see the whole map from here. someone in the comments said they paid for the guy who discovered it. Not IQ just an exploit.
No they should not replay shit, they used the map to their advantage and there was nothing in the rules saying that they are not allowed to use pixel boosting. Top teams have top strats. Also when they tried to rush A against the boost, they couldn't do shit, they just fell apart in the second half, honestly they could have stop using the boost after about 4 rounds. LDLC just fell apart and they couldn't even rush a site to win a round.
Whenever fnc's boost were more impactful is actually irrelevant. Same rulebreak = same punishment. In this case it actually was very easy to call for the 0-0 replay since both team "exploited" the same pixel. Dreamhack were not able to handle the pressure that was put on them, so they called for the 12-3 replay (for some reason). But since the other team is french ofc they would not even accept that and would still just instantly surrender. Never regained my respect for NBK, SHOX and the others on that team. Seems like the mentality has not changed since ww2 in France.
Volde Snort Each tournament each year releases a different rule book. In that year dream hack allowed pixel walking BUT did not allow it when part of the map didn’t render or you could see some artifacts. They didn’t show it well in this video but basically both boosts showed the edges of the skybox artifacting which is why they were deemed illegal. But this actually applied to many more matches than just this one which is why FNC felt like they were treated unfair.
Although I think there is some kind of truth in your comment, I disagree with the second sentence. Since only LDLC has been put in this rough situation, you can't say, that Fnatic is the better team, since they haven't been put in this situation for over 10 rounds.
@@sankai91 nah they got outsmarted, they couldn't figure out where he was firing from for ten rounds. That's just embarrassing, there's a reason you don't hear from LDLC anymore.
@@bobtom5138 you do forget that no one even noticed that "glitch" was there and note even professionals at the time didn't know it until they did and they used it to their best of ability. Try to figure out a area where no one even heard of and use it you would see the result that most players are going to be confused for many rounds. This goes for professionals to. They also have a graphic glitch that you can't see the player shots (aka the bright light coming out of your gun when you shoot) I mean they are genius's for coming it up but still I want you to find a game in a professional league and not only that find a glitch that gives you Absolute advantage and not only that but make sure the enemy don't see the gun shooting, and no one knows of this glitch. It's not their fault that they didn't knew the guys their for multiple rounds it's mostly valves fault for not adding testers instead of making hundreds if not Tens of thousands of people that had already their game ruined. That can help to find glitches in the game that include visual glitches. Like it's not their fault they lost it's valve for not testing gameplay ,visuals ,audio ,settings, and other glitches.
Ok, no, i don't think fnatic or anyone would have been able to adapt. It takes multiple rounds to even figure out there's something wrong, and then you have to figure it out. And with that boost fnatic could see where the other team was at all times, so no matter what LDLC could do, fnatic woull always have an advantage. So LDLC did the best they could have done, but fnatic just outsmarted them, but i don't agree with the first sentence you said.
I'm not a fnatic fan, but I think this is should not be hated on. They found a boost that worked and kept it to themselves, if anything they should be praised for doing this because it shows how much time and dedication goes into map knowledge in esports.
Sorry it was 12-3 and no it wasn't a entire redo. Fnatic was absolutely screwed over in this situation. They were forced to have to play it from a spot that is almost unwinnable once but to do it a second time where LDLC just needs to win 4 rounds.
+Shark Man Yeah, they had to play from a spot that was basically unwinnable, because they played badly in the first half and cheated in the second.... That's how it works
No the point in that they shouldn't have to re-play from that spot in the in the first place, the boost was legal. It's not that hard to read the full comment but. Also that's old Overpass which was incredible CT sided
I say that its fair, they found it, it was their strat, going into the match it was not "patched". It wasnt a glitch, it wasnt game breaking (eg, he WAS able to be shot from there) I really think they deserved the win that one time, because it was an insane find.
OCULUS They found it off of a youtuber who posted a video on it. Fnatic then proceeded to tell the youtuber to take down the video so the boost wouldn’t be known. What Fnatic did wasn’t illegal, but it was scummy.
I remember watching this play out live and the atmosphere was insane when fnatic won. Def one of the most memorable esports moments regardless of whether you like them or not.
i don't even play cs and i like this moment.. isn't boosting a valid strat on many cs maps? really don't understand why their win is even questionable.
I like this moment as history, but I would be ashamed as a fnatic fan or player. It's not like they won because they were better, it was just a boost that was too overpower that valve didn't know about it.
1.) It wasn't an external hack, it was IN THE game. That's Volvos fault, Fnatic simply abused the stupidity of a multi-billion dollar company. 2.) The hate that came after is absolutely unfair, there were (and still are) hackers with aimbots wallhacks in the pro scene, and people and pro players were mad about a incredible boost. Boohoo, you a**holes, I guess you aren't smart enough. So, Olof you're a legend.
I feel like all esport tournament hosters side with whoever yells the loudest what happened here was people complained enough so they said it was cheating. This is like how the overwatch league is now with them only punishing people who get community backlash. What happened here is a factor in why I just dont watch any esports now.
The thing is, i think all of the people calling that cheating is because LDLC had the game in the bag they were 13-3 they were the better team but then Fnatic come use a spot nobody knows about for them to comeback. I think its good that they restarted from 13-3 because then we could see how the game would have endet without them using an exploit.
disappointing to see such scrubery from the CS community... people talking like "oh it was scummy" "They're good they don't have to resort to X" Fact is, in a game as precise, technical, and strategic as this, you really need to make rulings on this sort of things, explicitly, and NOT ex post facto. If they call out this specific boost in the future as banned, ban the map/ask Valve to patch it, etc. fine. But honestly in my opinion the fact that the ruling on it being illegal was so esoteric means that the rules on "boosts via texture bugs" or whatever the hell it was are nowhere near specific enough, especially if LDLC just so happened to violate it in the same set. Punishing either team for this nonspecific shit just because people already didn't like fnatic is the real tragedy here, not fnatic using "dirty tricks" lmao. "it's apparently just a broken map, and no one knew until now"
Slay Ridah You mean them fishing for anything to try and DQ or get them to replay the match? “After hours of VOD reviews we noticed both teams used a single texture bug that allowed for both boosts” that shit wouldn’t have even been questioned if the other team and community weren’t up in a rage about it. Let’s not even get onto the subject that nothing would have even been done about LDLC’s pixel boost because NO ONE said anything about it until it was found in the vod reviews that what LDLC was also illegal. Like they said previously there was NOTHING in the rule book prohibiting them for it. What got both teams was a single texture bug abuse that wasn’t even acknowledged by the community because the opposing team themselves didn’t even know they were breaking rules when the replays were happening.
The funny thing is If that boost didn't get reviewed They wouldn't have caught LDLC doing the illegal boost to So they would've gone free without any problems Funny how that works

Yeah but if you find an exploit where you can walk through walls, or see through walls, that's a bug too which is not their fault. Both side has pro's and con's. tbh this would been legit, but if I remember correctly you couldn't kill the boosted player from party/toilet area, even if you were shooting his head, that's pretty unfair.
I remember watching that game live. I’m a scrub that doesn’t even play CS:GO but I love watching the competitive games. I used to watch tournaments at first not knowing much about the game but just finding it pure entertaining. I wasn’t at all in the community loop and after watching a couple of different matches I saw myself being the most entertained and in awe with Fnatic and they became my favourite team. To later found out they’re were pretty much the best and most popular. That’s how good they are.
Dude dendi is regarded as a legend for his fountain hooks. The greatest of all time, he was literally the face of dota 2. And then csgo is like this smh
FNATIC did not break the rule just as the tournament director and rule book states Some people just hated the fact that FNATIC was so good and outsmarted opponents. LDLC broke the rule but the same backlash did not happen, proving it was a hate for FNATIC and not an outrage for "breaking the rules."
Bs. LDLC did it first. If you don’t want them to exploit spots then fix the map. There honestly should even be a rule for that. If you didn’t account for your poor map design then that’s not a smart team’s fault
Yeah. The team didnt alter the map in any way, they just knew about that spot. They are just salty they didnt discover it first. If anybody is to be blamed here its the guy who made the map.
DoubleDownDeuce the issue is there’s intentional boosts where it’s blatant there’s been thought put in to allow players to do so. And then there’s Fnatic’s (and to a far lesser degree LDLC’s) where it’s unintentional and in the case of Fnatic’s completely breaks the map. This video does a massive disservice to LDLC’s dominance in the first half. They used their boost for pistol round and it only let them see players go down the steps from alley into tracks (basically long B.) In order for them to have killed somebody a player would’ve had to have stopped in the brief gap (weird spot to sit), or they would’ve had to have fired based on timing, or hit the nastiest reaction shot. They never got a kill/damage directly from the boost. Fnatic’s on the other hand let them see all of water, let them see upper connector/bathrooms area, and part of long B. It effectively made rotating impossible with Long A basically being the only unseeable lane Ts could take to a site at which point you can stack it/prep for it if you haven’t seen anybody with the boost. They used it almost every round and it broke the game.
Ethan Bridgett I had just started playing CSGO a couple months before the match happened, by the time I got into profession CS LDLC was a shitter team.
Pablo Blo No way they could of passed the semis? They were considered the best CSGO team and they just beat LDLC which was the second best, and you're saying they wouldn't been able to win the major anyways? LOGIC LOL. ANd don't even get me started on the whole olofboost thing, it is simply a smart play by fnatic and totally fair and legal, and it is a fact, not even an opinion, the only reason why this topic was "controversial" is because all those people whining over it, once again, it was a FACT that the olofbost was smart and legal.
Yukrizzan Tomoyoshi well its almost the same, both were considered sketchy but fountain hook didnt actually win them the whole game. It was great warding and chemistry of navi that did it (not saying fountain hooks didnt play a huge part). Its just that fountain hooks were already known but was pretty hard to do, thats why pros never used it until navi did.
the hook won them the game lol. the aegis gyro got wrecked on the fountain if not for the hook.. it would have already been gg how do you kill gyro twice?
I don't know how I can't across this video. I don't like csgo, nor do I watch esports in general, but to me it just looks like they found something that worked to their advantage. It's called an adjustment, and it happens in football, basketball, baseball, etc.
Twitter: @_Nathan_Gibson_ well in this game, there’s no kill cam or any hint of where they got killed from so they had to figure it out by dying over and over. To put this in basketball reference like you said, it would be like someone wearing stilts and saying adjust to it
It's an exploit of an unintended side effect that was never intended and had the creators known beforehand, would never have been allowed to remain in the first place. It's like that hockey coach that discovered u couldn't actually penalize a team below 3 players, so the team could get up a single point in the first quarter and just keep putting an extra player on the ice every 10 seconds so the ref would have to stop the puck and just run out the clock for the next 3 quarters. That rule clearly was not allowed to remain the way it was because it trivializes the game and the competitive aspect. The common thread is that it is good this sort of thing gets discovered, but the difference is the hockey coach tried to go to the NHL first to show them these problems and was ignored, while Fnatic only ever let it be seen during a crucial competition when huge amounts of money are on the line in the biggest tournament of the season. They knew about it ahead of time and in no way reached out to Valve or Dreamhack because they knew it 100% would not have been approved and the map might either have been disallowed or rapidly changed to fix it. It's not just some new quirk, or an evolution of the sport, it serves to make the game more boring and actively disrupts the spirit of the game.
I remember this lol. And my thoughts are when people get mad about it they are just passed they didn't get it first. If the tables were changed it would always be the same way
Clearly the rules were hazy and not being enforced at all if LDLC were using an illegal boost that no one even pointed out as being illegal until after thorough vod review
Both teams used an “illegal” boost, fnatics was better and won them the game but oh no fnatic are the evil cheats. Double standards, but fnatic went on to shit on everyone else and win more majors than any other team so ez pz 🧡🖤
Can we also point out that this "texture bug" that both boosts had were completely different...the texture that went missing in Olofs boost (as far as Im aware) had basically no impact on how effective it was, meanwhile the boost used by ldlc relied on a texture dissapearing, otherwise they wouldnt have seen a thing
Only facts, no crybabies fanboys argument here : -LDLC uses a bug -Fnatic uses a bug -Admins forces both team to replay that map -Fnatic forfeited for various reason (mostly for their image)
Looks like those are fanboy false truth tbh... Cos the real truth was because of death threats from CS community(which is probably you're part of) LDLC dont want a rematch, they want a replay of 12-3(only 2nd half) so.. Get your facts right
Dibs Migee ”Fnatic knew they couldn’t win without boost”, are you stupid? They wouldn’t win even with the boost. It is also easily countered once known and wastes a lot of time. Simply by rushing B would be easy because their team is split.
They didn’t do anything wrong! They played the game to the best of their ability, and they played to win. It is stupid to call it “cheap” or an “exploit.”
I dont understand why people hate on fanatic. "They are too good amd shouldnt win" i didnt even know that the other team had used an "illegal" boost but wtf just cuz one team did better research doesnt mean they cheated
This was a legendary time for cs:go, I watched it live and was cheering them on. It was a legit boost spot that people didn't know about, was totally a secret weapon and was fair and square. They didn't do anything that counts to be replayed. If anything they should be lauded.
@@bronzewaffle2310 a 2014 dreamhacks tourney has nothing to do with my map knowledge. If you find an exploit in a map, you should report it to the devs instead of keeping it for a crutch. "Map knowlege" has never brought a 3-11 score to 16-11. Map exploits have.
I remember watching this live and just being absolutely floored by this never-before-seen strategy and seeing the insane comeback they managed to achieve with it.
Boosts are part of the game and have been for a long time this one just is very powerful. Patch the boost and give fanatic the win. It’s the equivalent of finding a crazy good angle or finding a wall bang that works really well.
I don't know a thing about CS but from what I can see in this video, it seems this was mostly a clever find by Fnatic than anything else and the community became crybabies because of the success of that strategy. Kind of reminds me of the Melee community who wants to ban Puff basically for not allowed mirror Fox grand finals in every tournament Hungry Box is there.
The fact that so many people are coming to this conclusion without knowledge of cs proves the video didn't do a great job telling the circumstances. The boost was illegal for both ldlc and fnatic by dreamhack rules. The admins then said that the map should be replayed in full, which was fair. Fnatic backed out to preserve their image as they had used an illegal boost to win 13 rounds instead of 3. Those are the facts. No one was really at fault. Fnatic and ldlc were both just using a clever boost that they didn't know was forbidden and the fans felt that using a forbidden boost to recover from a 13-2 position was both clever and cowardly in a pretty even split.
Kory Burch yeah

It's not their fault that they didn't knew the guys their for multiple rounds it's mostly valves fault for not adding testers instead of making hundreds if not Tens of thousands of people that had already their game ruined. Tom Pasquill 100% agree, FNC are just genius
they lost bet thats why lol
Yeah who needs sportsmanship in sport right
Tom Pasquill lmfao ikr!!
Pablo Blo people can actually whine about anything in the name of sportsmanship tbh.
What happened here is a factor in why I just dont watch any esports now.
it's exploiting. Doesn't matter.
Don't play CS GO maybe all of things im sayin are stupid idk 🤷♂️

disappointing to see such scrubery from the CS community... people talking like "oh it was scummy" "They're good they don't have to resort to X"
Fact is, in a game as precise, technical, and strategic as this, you really need to make rulings on this sort of things, explicitly, and NOT ex post facto.
"it's apparently just a broken map, and no one knew until now"
i feel like you just wanted to say ex post facto
Olofboost was legal... The map is what it is, ldlc could have used it themselves
Itls like nobody actually watched the video all the way through. It actually was illegal BY CURRENT RULES you morons!
@@slayridah watch whole video.

The funny thing is
If that boost didn't get reviewed
They wouldn't have caught LDLC doing the illegal boost to
So they would've gone free without any problems
Funny how that works
You'd literally have to be the most nitpicky person ever to find out if ldlc was cheating. They probably cheated accidentily too because nobody would realize it was a cheat. Not you
Not me. Not millions of viewers around the world. Not even ldlc themselves. Lol
@@dr.cranium9080 wtf does "cheat accidentally" mean?
@@notaphilosopher5143 do you agree that it is possible for a player to unintentionally violate a rule? Then thats what i call accidentily cheating
@@dr.cranium9080 So then what Fnatic did be counted as game resetting cheat? Fnatic and LDLC did the same thing in every way, Fnatic just used it better.
@@KamiLilBird objectively yes fnatic and ldlc both did boosts. However they're not the same boosts. There's a reason why we don't have a name for the ldlc boost like we do for the olafboost- its because the similarities end at "illegal boost". If you dont look at the details of each boost and instead just penalize them both equally then you're being blind. What did fnatic do better? Exploit a bug? Because ldlc weren't trying to break any rules. Get your head out of your ass because it's not like fnatic and ldlc were trying to one up each other with boosts. It's not like they said to each other, "Hey i bet i could boost BETTER than the other team" so stfu with "doing it better"
Legendary moment in CSGO, just like navi's fountain hook in Ti3
In my opinion ist not unfair, its shows that fnatic had much more game knowledge than other teams
Pray for MM the fuck are you talking about? their game analyzers saw someone posting that boost on youtube, and then paid them to take the video down and steal strat for themselves
Pray for MM
Well the problem is that when u have more knowledge in the game than youre opponent people are gonna rage at the fact you know something they dont and will find ways to take you down some will admit this boost is genius some will admit its Bonkers its kinda like the fountain hook navi used in dota 2

Fnatic found a way through. Thats it. They are genius. I think they deserved their titles well enough.
Yes agreed
I remember watching that game live. I’m a scrub that doesn’t even play CS:GO but I love watching the competitive games. I used to watch tournaments at first not knowing much about the game but just finding it pure entertaining. I wasn’t at all in the community loop and after watching a couple of different matches I saw myself being the most entertained and in awe with Fnatic and they became my favourite team. To later found out they’re were pretty much the best and most popular. That’s how good they are.
Fountain hooks in Dota 2 = 100% cool

ahh the old " I'm salty i didn't discover it first" salt
FNATIC did not break the rule just as the tournament director and rule book states Some people just hated the fact that FNATIC was so good and outsmarted opponents. LDLC broke the rule but the same backlash did not happen, proving it was a hate for FNATIC and not an outrage for "breaking the rules."
It was hate for being to good, but still using strats that were so good they didn't even need to use their skill to shit on the opposition.
Hajime Ichikawa
did you even watch the video?
@@SirPage13 I mean you were close but I'm pretty sure strats *are* skill.

No way they could of passed the semis? They were considered the best CSGO team and they just beat LDLC which was the second best, and you're saying they wouldn't been able to win the major anyways? LOGIC LOL. ANd don't even get me started on the whole olofboost thing, it is simply a smart play by fnatic and totally fair and legal, and it is a fact, not even an opinion, the only reason why this topic was "controversial" is because all those people whining over it, once again, it was a FACT that the olofbost was smart and legal.
this is the equivalent of like the fountain hook in dota 2
Kevin Florenz Daus fountain hook is a bug. this is just a boost. normal csgo mechanics. i dont see any problem with this boost.
Yukrizzan Tomoyoshi The fountain hook wasn't a bug. The mechanic worked just like it was meant to, they just didn't think of that scenario.
Kevin Florenz Daus yeah, I think if it's in the game it should be allowed
Absolute gods work. Having a brain that big deserved the win.
To put this in basketball reference like you said, it would be like someone wearing stilts and saying adjust to it
@@limitedbom2206 stilts aren't a part of basketball
It's not just some new quirk, or an evolution of the sport, it serves to make the game more boring and actively disrupts the spirit of the game.
exactly what most kids in this comment section don't understand

The admins also made fair decisions. At most a minority of fans got too involved but beyond that everyone behaved well enough.
