Building a Rocket Bunny Miata on a budget

- First off welcome to my channel! Here is a walkaround of my first ever project car that is very special to me my NA Mazda Miata. The Miata is equipped with a Rocket Bunny Pandem widebody kit and is sitting on some Work Miester Cr01 wheels. I hope you guys enjoy the tour of the car and it helps answer some important questions that you may have when it comes to going widebody!
10+ year Miata owner chiming in: Those are stock tail lights. The only difference between a 1.6 and a 1.8 engine/exhaust is the headers are in a slightly difference position causing the headers and the cat to be slightly off. Use adhesive foam insulation stripping from Home Depot on all of the surfaces your door cars touch to reduce the rattling. Swap in an OEM MAF, it'll make your car run better and it'll look a lot better.

Recently got a 91 Miata from some people who didn’t really know much for 3.6k and so far we fixed dn all the issues it had. We did all the main Seals and belts and pumps, oil change, and recently got a new steering wheel set up. Soft top has a little tear but eh that can be fixed. The pain job is terrible and the wide body they did is terrible but that can be fixed. It was running double spacers in front and back (I took off a spacer in the fronts) and as of rn I just need wheels, tires, and wrap, and of course a new motor for the flippy lights and she’ll be good as new. I'm also a 91 Miata owner sept I went nuts on boring n forging n port n polish n boosted on 30psi atm lol , great cars i daily mine ...I love how clean your car looks bro the wrap is nice ... N the wheels are fire .. much respect fam peace and love bro keep it rad stay safe and build on ... Ps on door cards get a super thin foam stripping n line the door at rattle or contact points n 5hat should do ya a solid fam ... L8z brotha

put some light strength lock tight on the door card screws, and get a strip of sound deadening on the aluminum panel to fix the rattle

at walmart you can go to the craft section and get some 2mm craft foam. you can just hot glue or super glue smal 1 inch by 1 inch squares to the metal wherever it is vibrating.

Try putting a rubber washer in between the bolts in the door card and the door. That would isolate the metal vibrating and resonating with each other.

If your rear housings are stock mine definitely arnt bc they're super dark but all the light goes through well
Also do they make door cards that don't have a crank hole in them bc one of the previous owners swapped it to power windows for whatever reason

It took me a lot of cutting/ bashing with a hammer, but i have 15x10.5 with a 245/40 in the front and can go full lock, took me about 2 hours to get it to work.

There are AFM to IAT sensor adapters out there. Just search it up.
And who did the swap? There are some other things that can clean up that bay, it seems like a mix of jerry rig and proper Flyin' Miata 1.8 swap.
I did the swap when I was 16/17 and I prefer the term Jimmy rigged 😂 but yeah I agree I definitely need to take advantage of all the stuff I’ve learned since doing the swap way back then and clean it up.
I want to get a rocket bunny kit for my na but I also wanna get proper suspension. What is recommended in terms of coil overs for the rocket bunny kit? I can’t find an answer to my question anywhere 😂
I touched on this in the video around 16:40 but id recommend function and form type 2 coil overs with a swift or 326 power spring upgrade. Good luck on the build!

Can comfirm that the fake kits don’t fit well. But if you live outside of japan or usa, the included taxes and shipping make the price skyrocket so unless you’re loaded the rep kits which are waaaay cheaper (got mine for like 300$ without the ducktail and front lip) kinda make more sense, even that they are nightmare to fit.
the airbrushed engine bay looks gud, tho.

I have a miata myself and i have also looked into most of the stuff he has done to it so here’s my take-not including the miata itself
Rocket bunny kit i would like to say is around 2.5k-2.6k shipped? Not sure how much it cost today, i bought myself a 1.8 motorfor 1.6k, which sadly are going up even more since its harder to find them low milage, the ecu alone is 1.3k (for a megasquirt), the wheels…ah the wheels, i myself want to get some work meisters s1, but he has some work meister cr01s, but both alone, atleast for the miatas bolt pattern go for 1.6-1.7k shipped i wanna say, coilovers maybe are around 1-1.2k not sure about his brand but i know BCs go for that price, bucket seat maybe was around 5-700$, hardtops nowadays in good shape are 2k, racing beat headers are about 500$, exhaust is about the same maybe 600$, tires-i know the ones he has aren’t the best but the good for the price, maybe around 300 a set?
I think that’s about all i remember him listing, so adding all that together i got 12.5k just on cosmetics and some minor upgrades.
if he builds the motor and paints the car you can for sure add another 8-10k alone, turbo kits on miatas go for 2.5k new from flying miata alone, not including pistons and rods and whatver else he decides to upgrade, and a professional paintjob itself is 5k on a good deal. But for now i feel pretty confident saying he spent around 12-14k including the car, maybe a couple grand less since he built it before everything miata related went up in price

how would a 15 year old in high school get into the automotive industry? like trait schools, college type stuff, I don't know but What are other ways other than college route? I wanna build cars for the rest of my life, do you have any starting recommendation like any course, vids, textbooks?
I’d recommend learning a skill that has some sort of basis in the automotive industry and then grow connections from there to eventually get a job doing what you love. I hope that helps and good luck on your journey I know it can be scary trying to figure out how to navigate going into a career that you want to do for the rest of your life but you can definitely do it!

Just to say I’m glad you weren’t gate keeping but withholding the spacer size is kind of gate keeping because now someone will be that spec and offset and still not fit… offset now changed because there’s a spacer involved….

I personally don’t like the way it looks with the top down but I’ll take it off for a future video if you guys want to see what it looks like 😂
