Letting the timer run out is one way to force a random either way so that suggests that the option must be there anyway. I don't believe that you get bonus gold for randoming like in All Pick otherwise 4th pick random might be a lot more common, it's free wars and a salve or two salves and a clarity and in these situations it's not bad.
