I used to watch the competitions they used to have for hoddies back in the day. These guys were absolutely huge and would load ridiculous amounts of bricks on their hods and carry them.

Look at the brick carriers from australia far easier to use and up to 8 a side , and they are adjustable as well. You could pick the bricks from the stack
Unless on a private job without a forklift ( hods are useless ) Grabs,sack trucks or a wheelbarrow are quicker ! If a dead start ( 1 stacking 12’s for everyone else on a loading bay to clear a quick 3 packs is more efficient as well ! Hods were good before my time, I’ve been on the trowel for 35 years !
Ya can get about 5 hods in a barra, why don't ya just walk em over in a barrow rather than watch the ex fireman painfully carry the Hod lol😂😂all jokes side.. It takes few goes to get used to it tbf tell Sam to get bk in his fire engine 🔥🔥😂😂😂
@@richardstetson8221 ah about the same as a hod then, I carried a hod for years, once you got the technique it's really well balanced, seen a few guys using tongs but they were only carrying 6, seemed hard on the arms to me, I guess it's what you get used to
When I was a hoddy I preferred to stack 12 bricks on top of one brick, stick my shoulder on top of the pile and swing them up. Each to their own. Being a hoddy will destroy your discs in your back though...
That’s fine on footings but the hod makes things so much quicker if the man was told properly considering the shoulder he was putting it on when pulling it of the shoulder the staff needs to come across the body and stack 2 bricks to the left as your first bricks that way a right handed person had more control coming of the shoulder with it

Been on the trowel 30 years , was on the hod before that , I used to love up and down the ladder all day long.

Couple of brick tongs are way nicer than using that thing IMO. Can grab a row of 8-10 bricks in each hand, no loading.
