    that's actually quite informative, to see how a wall hold it's own while muck still wet innit, you could do a video on the science of how brick walls can stay upright 👍

    • @winterroadspokenword4681
      @winterroadspokenword4681 Месяц назад +1

      Never seen a UK wall built like that. Our frost line is about 4 inches deep MAX. In central Scotland NE England perhaps it gets down to 4 inches regularly. But southern and especially western I’ve never really seen frost get down below the top two inches.
      Ground frost just isn’t really a concern for us. Many days in winter are up to 10c if a SW storm blows through off the Atlantic. Regularly thawing out any any frost that occurred for a week.

    • @stephenribchester2185

      Whoever told you that at college, ignore them. A proper builders level is designed to be hit to straighten up the course, save's time. Spend £100 and get a good Stabilla and stop arsing around. Get a 196k or a 83s.

    • @stephenribchester2185
      @stephenribchester2185 2 месяца назад

      @@sebg2086 If you get a Stabila builders level it will be fine, just check it when new. They are designed to be hit. Don't hit one of the lighter cheaper models, and when I say hit I dont mean beat the shit out of I mean you put pressure on the level and then you tap it in such a way to transfer the pressure through the level correctly. It is a bit like when you are splitting a thick piece of stone and you want the new face to to be flat for a coin or similar. You hit the bolster with the lump straight down momentarily leaving the lump in place to transfer the strike right through. It is the same sort of strike though obviously much lighter. Hard to explain if you don't know. There is a difference between hitting something and striking it properly.
      Get a good builders level and you can use it properly. Then in a while you buy a new one it is a tool.
      The guy I learnt to build from was an old school guy who did a 7 year apprenticeship just after the war. He had an 83s girder level and always straightened his work up with it. It had a slight bend in it so you could not straighten tiles with it but was near enough. Any house he built the top row to put the wall plate on was always dead level and door casings always had the same gap round them. The 83s is the best because it has the bubble in the middle so it get turned round and any deviation averaged out.
      Get the correct tool and use it properly.
      If you put a dent in an 83s then it would be knackered an Stabila would be well in their right not to replace.

    This guy is a narcissist lool type too give his workers the short end of the stick and blame the contractors when it’s him.. hence why people who work for him are young no experienced donny with van, tools can stand him 🤣🤣🤣💯

    • @winterroadspokenword4681
      @winterroadspokenword4681 Месяц назад +1

      Maybe a bit yeah…
      But I don’t think you get his banter tbh. You see him slip out of that quite a lot when watching him. When he’s more real with people. More considerate. I also see him admit to mistakes far more readily than I would want to…that’s not the sign of a narcissist tbh. They will blame anything. Even the wind, or their tiredness. Or the muck, or the stupid pallet or anything other than themselves.
      I think you’re probably just projecting your own shit mate more than anything.
      Did you have a narcissistic parent? If you’ve not dealt with that much you’ll see it in others even where it doesn’t really exist. I actually think Charlie would be a great person to go work for a few months and pick up knowledge and tips and charge a cheap rate.
      I think anyone would be somewhat cheesed off about about a wall getting knocked down lol 😂
      But yeah. He does have younger workers etc. but this is pretty normal for a boss of a small company like this tbh. Anyone with more experience is tending to work for themselves as tradies where it’s easy to work alone on sites etc. construction industry is a weird one as work is short term contracts so subbies are always in flux.
      I’ve noticed that many of them are a bit afraid to give him shit back. But perhaps they just don’t wanna play the game for the camera lol 😂

    Labourers a wrong en. Its easier to mix when its like water, so he does whats easy over whats right. When i started in the building trade, we mixed on a board with a shovel. No1 had to show me how to mix cement. I was told 3 to 1 for the roofng work we were doing and i did it. If you cant mix cement witout continued correction, go back to waking up at midday, wanking and waiting for your dole to clear. You even said he would mix it like water so its not the first time and if he had anything about him, that should have been his warning to mix it properly. Hes even got a paddle mixer, its piss easy mixing with one of those ffs.
