My favourite gunner ever. Even more than henry & bergkamp. Before Pires, nobody expects an attacking midfielder to be scoring more than 10 goals per season in the league. Even the likes of Zidane, Figo & Nedved didnt post those numbers. Now if you’re a winger or an attacking midfielder, you’re expected to get 15+ goals per season. If not you’re deemed not up to standard. But Pires did it all before anyone else. Then came Lampard. But Pires was the pioneer. How can you miss almost half a season and still be voted Player of the Year?
@@AbdulMoizz-w7ptrue. And it's not just the goals. He was so creative and intelligent on the pitch. Always used to make us flow, made the whole attack more creative, fluid. Always used to create space for himself and others with his intelligent link up and passing.
Such a world class player during the end of his career he gave us master class in La Liga in Spain many weekends… during his peak he was the only one who could play the role of Zidane in France National in the absence of the real Zidane. Pires always reminded me in some aspects to Ginola (but more consistent that Ginola) and lately Kravadona reminds me a lot to these type gifted players (that guy from Nápoles is a gem)
I love Robert Pires. He was my hero growing up and I have a shirt with his signature on. I remember going to Highbury watching him and I remember having the 04-05 shirt with his name on it. Wonderful player
Pirez was an AM disguised as a LW/RW. He thrived mainly as an inverted winger supporting the strikers with link up play as Ashley Cole bombed up and down the flanks. He is even receiving the ball in deep areas of the field. A truly insane hybrid! Also 1 v 1 against Pirez is game over!
I'm an Arsenal supporter who watched a lot of games he played in, but I don't remember him losing the ball, not even once. He probably did on a couple of occasions but he was that good.
Another Brilliant! Great! Gunner! Robert Pires!❤ All Guns Blazen!!! From Timmy Blazen Gunner Paul n Bermuda 🇧🇲 Since 1972,73 Season! Arsenal 4 Life! Respectfully 😎👍👋✌️👊 n GodBless!
There is no one like him. He ruled that position. There don't make any wingers like him anymore. Pires always got passed you... that is what he always did and you had to stop the cross, as the only way to deny him. He was LETHAL! Just double up on wingers that have evolved after he was gone and we seen them instantly get stuck till even this very day.
Why nobody ever says Pires is slim younger doppelganger of John Travolta?? Hes playing like Saturday night fever on the pitch somemore, impressive moves

No Pires was an important player for France. World cup and euro cup winner. His assist for trezeguet in euro final 2000 contributed to this. Its also famous in France thanks To Aimé jacquet speech in 1998 : muscle ton jeu robert 😉
Un jugador con demasiada clase, cada toque era como una pincelada en una obra de arte. Muy pocos por no decir que ninguno tienen esa magia para jugar actualmente.
Same. He was just so classy on the pitch. So fluid. He scored a ton of goals, but he was super unselfish on the pitch and would always pass to a team mate in a better position. He would always pick the best solutin and had an insane football brain to spot every space, every player so quickly. Has to be one of the most intelligent players I've seen.
@@clintparkinson129 he's my favourite Arsenal player too. Strangely, I have very similar feet posture like him, with the feet going outwardas lol. That's why I have always used to curl the ball with the inside of my foot, just like Pires 😃

tem muito jogador do futebol mundial muito subestimado porque não ganhou uma Copa, não brilhou numa grande seleção ou num grande time histórico. Pirés era puro futebol, se jogasse hoje seria gênio, em qualquer época seria gênio!
Such a joy to watch... A midfield with him on the half left side, Clarence Seedorf on the right half side, Toni Kroos and Patrick Vieira as central midfielders... that could have been my dream🥰
I take that back after watching this, I had a preconception of him without looking into the minor details of his game, (a winger that’s not fast, not too skilful, and not that elegant). What is special about him is his foresight in the heat of the moment, looks like he always knew what to do when the pressure was on and executed as he imagined, the way he exited each dribble was like he already knew that he was going to beet the man, didn’t look off balance at all
I'll never forget him diving to win a penalty in the last minute to rescue a point during that "invincibles" season. Same old Arsenal, always cheating.

One of the most underrated legends you don't hear much about anymore. But he was one of the best players in the world.

Yes he was! No doubt
True. He just did everything effortlessly, whether it was was scoring, assisting, dribbling, passing. Always one-two steps ahead of everyone.

The amount of skill and intelligence in our squad back then, with Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira, Pires, Wiltord, Ljungberg and Kanu. Unbelievable.
What amazing team had the Arsenal in that time with this kind of monsters. Pires, Berckamp, henry, Viera, Lehmann.
