Thank you Lukas. You answered the question (no.1) on the issue of breathing through the nose or mouth. I was wondering about it for long.

Do we have to inhale also through our mouth and our nose?

The inhaling is more through the mouth than the nose .. practice the bobbing drill and you won't have to even think about it...good question 👍

Isn’t letting out the air slower better for slowing your heart rate and relaxing thing, I feel like doing everything fast make it more stressful, also shouldn’t we keep a small percentage of air in our lungs to maintain a bit of buoyancy ? Otherwise you’re actually further from the water surface and it takes you longer to get that next breath? It personally make me panic more and gasp for that next breath

You definitely want to always stay relaxed and not rush anything in swimming, so you are correct there , but be careful not to do things so slow that you don't develop a rhythm or generate momentum in your stroke.. ultimately the momentum you generate in your stroke and body position is what keeps you buoyant not the air you are holding..watch my latest video on the channel and the how to breathe video for a deeper look at these topics..all the best!

Opinion on breathing every stroke or every third. Thanks.

If your new to swimming I would recommend first trying to find a rhythm breathing every stroke... meaning only to one side every stroke cycle ... breathing every 3rd is a great drill to balance out your stroke but it's only a drill and not meant to be used for racing ...thanks for watching!

@@siskatrainingsystemsYour thoughts on breathing for long distance swimming (>800m) be the same or would you change it up a little? Thanks :)

@@frankmollegaard1989 it depends on what you are trying to accomplish...if you are going for speed and comfort the n you need to get as much oxygen in you as possible...choose one side you feel most comfortable with and predominantly stick to that side breathing every stroke..but just because you breathe to one side that doesn't mean you have a lop sided stroke...you need to equally rotate to both sides despite the same sided breathing . Again breathing every 3 is a drill that can help this , but when going for performance, that needs to go out the window and breathe according to need. I personally breathe predominantly to the right , but will throw in some left sided breathes before turns or just to mix it up a bit because I feel like it.....

Thanks coach for the tips,I have been wondering about those questions too, as a beginner that I am. I have the impression though that when exhaling completely I feel I am sinking as there is very little air in the lungs to hold me above and maybe because I am too slow probably the bubbles in front of me are annoying. Any tips please?
