Not even half way through but "im quite bad at facilitating my own happiness" hit home. I think that is true for so many of us in the world. Because I'm an introvert I thought quarantine would be a breeze. But so much of my happiness is dependent on certain things happening for me or specific interactions. Happiness is work not an automated experience which I forget sometimes.

i feel like doing something _in spite of_ quarantine is hard as shit, and there's better things to do than beating yourself up because you couldn't do something while the world was kinda ending a little, it's cool imo. but also mood i fell out of practice of drawing big time
yeah but we also have this concept of time that isn't really that true. not all time is the same. the time we spent or are spending in quarantine is such a hard time to live, you wouldn't compare it to time with friends, where you had inspiration and you were always learning because there were always new things and people around you. I'm not saying you can't do great things while quarantined but you shouldn't beat yourself up for not being a good version of yourself
@@jayde_d sameee my art motivation went down the drain entirely, motivation in general was already down the drain but somehow it just fell a little further. I'm still trying to learn not to beat myself up though
Nobody should beat themselves up about what they did or didn't do with this time! I feel like just surviving a pandemic is an achievement itself, be kind to yourself
it hit deep hearing you say you're not that great at facilitating your own happiness, because it made me realize i only really smile when i'm talking to someone or distracting my thoughts with tiktok or video games, etc. a couple of days ago i realized while watching tiktoks that i was laughing and immediately stopped after it was over. i asked myself if i was okay out loud and started to cry, which kinda scared me. being introverted, i though quarantine would be easy for me, but with school starting back up i realized just how much i missed being around my friends or even around immature people in class that used to get on my nerves. being alone with my thoughts scares me sometimes, because it's just me and my self deprecation most of the time. on the bright side, i have learned some things about myself during quarantine and have become the tiniest bit more confident, which feels great!
thank you for sharing. sustained happiness is so important, and something i haven't had a grasp on for a very long time. we'll get there x

weirdly enough seeing my city quiet down stressed me a lot, the fact that everything is now mostly dark and silent by eleven at night when i used to hear distant chatting and cars up to five am is depressing, like the streets have been devoid of life.

i’ve been doing SO much reflecting during quarantine and i honestly think i’ve improved a lot as a person and although i still have a lOT of shit to deal with it was really nice to have such a chill video reflect all our thoughts :)
Watching this from the U.S. is a bittersweet experience-lovely work as always :’)
I think Gene despite people seeing her having learning disabilities is very wise beyond her age. It's nice to find people like her in the world we live in these days.

This is a gorgeous little film, there's a real feel of each individual that permeates through- their anxieties and worries are always present but so is their hope, joy and excitement (as well as trepidation) for the future. You've captured this strange moment in our history really well.

I had a dream last night I met you in a train. It’s been years since I watched your videos. I was so excited and told you that I loved your videos growing up. You said you were happy to hear it and had been thinking about why you make videos anymore. In case you are actually thinking about this, know you work is amazing and so impactful. Even if you never make a video again, the ones you made have been amazing.
At some point this was very relaxing to watch, I even feel kind of _ready_ to go out, thx for all your beautiful work!!

The first month was quite easy for me since I'm an introvert who enjoyed spending time alone with myself but then I slowly started getting lonlier and lonlier and that's when depression hit hard. It got to the point where I'd cry atleast three times a day. I guess I just didn't know how to keep myself happy. But now I've been keeping myself busy, trying new things and feel so much better.
One of the coolest things I’ve learned about filmmaking is that the more personal a story is the more relatable it becomes ✨ thnx bertie!
I’ve found the space in my brain really suffocating, been in and out of intense existential crisis and really struggling to know what I’m doing with my life and time and finding the future terrifying. It’s nice to see I’m not alone in struggling to facilitate my own happiness, I’ve had no outside inputs to my happiness and it’s been incredibly hard. Also feeling incredibly lonely, haven’t seen anyone except for my 3 immediate family members since March 20th and now can’t because mental health has meant I’ve not kept contact with my few friends and because of local restrictions I can’t see the one person I have been able to keep in contact with. I left year 11 this summer and I had so much cool stuff planned. I’m struggling at the moment, and I love reevaluating but I’ve been doing it for months, I’m not getting anywhere and I’m driving myself slightly insane. This whole thing just sucks, but this was a great video because I really related to quite a lot of it.

It's really interesting and important to take note of the effects of lockdown and this did it beautifully. I can imagine rewatching it in the future to remember what lockdown felt like.
Thank you for this video. I feel like i've re-evaluated a lot of things about myself and people during lockdown. I started to look at many things differently. Most people I know didn't seem to take it as an opportunity to reflect, but were kinda just waiting for it to be over to resume their ordinary lives. I do keep thinking about facilitating my own happiness, whether some things actually make me happy, or it's just the familiarity of it all. I find myself thinking about what energy I wanna surround myself with after so long, needing things and people that will feed me positive energy. I've always been an introvert, but I guess normality for me has changed.

yo 1:25 ..what a shot!!! and once again the thoughts in the video are so wonderfully phrased.. i relate a lot to this difficulty of finding gratitude or a sense of achievement and satisfaction just in oneself, with the echo chamber being almost entirely reduced to me and my work. hearing someone else put it into words makes these frustrations feel a little less like a burden, so thank you once more!

Weirdly enough during quarantine i found out that when i have nothing to do i change a lot, usually i would pick up a book and just binge read, during quarantine i became a lot more introverted and started just exploring the internet and binge watching my favourite shows like himym and brooklyn nine-nine, the last time i picked up a book was two weeks ago and i guess i just want to change that

I was literally in the middle a online class and im like "nooooooo i have to wait till its overrrr!" love ur vids Bertie! (and apparently I Miles cat has the same name as I do lol)
In lockdown (which is going to be stricter once again in February in my country) i understood that I'm very dependent on people and their services, like if i didn't order food to my home via online store, I'd totally die of starvation. Cos i limited my access to the physical stores, i juzt practically don't visit them. Mental health situation got fudged up.
I think i got depressed and even though I took some pills, and situation got better, I understood that now I'm not that happy as I used to be.
