Olive knives “Arbor” : the machining on the blade is done in South Africa. We own the machine down there, so it's a bit more cost-effective for us at this stage. The machined blade blanks are then shipped to the USA, where we send them to Peter’s Heat Treatment for hardening, including cryogenic cooling. After that, the blades are surface finished, assembled, and sharpened here in the USA. The G-10 handle is made from G-10 sourced in the USA.

Ohhh shit ! I should’ve never hacked at that tree. Half rotted dead wood. Not a good idea.

Hacking on that limb is a good illustration of just how bad of a tool a knife is for that task.
Carry a folding saw for that shit folks, that isn't what a knife is for.

I agree. I think I actually said on the video that I wasn’t predisposed to using a knife for that purpose but I was just trying to test the edge on the blade. Should’ve just stayed with the actual lumber pieces.

@LuvThemKnives it's a useful test, I'm speaking more to the outcome. You do good work I'm not slagging you

Why choose Elmax ?. It's perfectly suitable for smaller knives and folders but not field/bushcraft knives, far better choices, such as 14C28N for example - far better toughness plus hell of a sight cheaper, and more than satisfactory edge retention. Elmax for show perhaps ?. Fibonacci grind - why, what's wrong with the constantly, IDENTICALLY renewable Scandi grind with microbevel as per Mora etc. See comparative data on Larrin's site.
    This knife - no.

I understand your point. But Bark River and many others use all kinds of super steels on their knives. And so many enthusiasts are looking for super steels on all their knives. I’m really good with the user steels myself but I was impressed with how the edge held up on this blade.
