That is a great call to give this beautiful boat one more chance. Looks like nothing that cannot be fixed and as you say, mast and sails secondhand, certainly doable. Reminds me of my Rival 32 which has the exact same engine. Fingers crossed someone takes it whole. Andy UK
Great vid. From the initial view you've given, it seems dubious (almost dodgy) as to why the boat was 'written off' - must have been valued and insured for very little? To speculate, damage (nothing big shown) was forward port-side - so a third party fault collision ? - not stand on vessel coming from port side? Or did the helm sail her at full speed into a granite Solent Fort! I'm sure readers would love to know the back story. I so hope someone can save this old girl - looks like she deserves it.
Write off will be done if the repairs cost more than the market value and as he’s stated new spars, standing and running rigging with sails will be £20k+ on their own let alone with actual hull repairs that have to be done to Lloyds specifications for insurance and as a perfect concours vindo 32 would be around the £30k mark it’s an obvious write off from an economic standpoint.
yeah sorry looking at the hourly rates of professionals doing the repair, something like this will quickly become a "write-off", not really dubious IMO... still making this an excellent DIY project, which should not mean that it will not get costly to repair, but more realistic in relation to the overall value of the boat..
What an absolute shame even you as a boat scrapper can see its nonsensical to write off a boat like this ,,,,,I just bought a camper and Nicholson 303 in southern Spain last year for not a lot had been abandoned 14 years in almeria ,went for our first sail last week

She was saved. No follow up video but her owner did share some pictures on our Boat Scrapyard Facebook group of his progress.

This one was saved and is being restored by her new owner. I'm not sure if she has made it back on to the water yet though.
