Locations are given to us by local bait shops and on line using google maps. More crabbers, more customers for them. So always ask for a good crabbing spot around their area.

@@ShadowkillerG There’s no street number, but try to get to Holly avenue in Island Heights. Try to drive all the way to the end of it heading to the river. It’s the small park at the end.
@@showmethefishing It should, but it will be hard to pull up. It will most likely scrape into the sandy bottom because you’re not standing on a pier. And heavier to throw farther, because you need to set the trap in deeper waters.
@@thuynguyensanthuy6127 Crabbing, like fishing is quite unpredictable. The crabs are there, but the big ones aren’t biting. We also have days when we don’t catch a single keeper🦀. When the big male crabs start mating, they concentrate on the females and ignore the traps.

Just went to island heights and caught around 50 as well 🎉. But have you ever gotten a small black leech like worm on a crab before? One of the crabs had one on it but it came off easily. Hopefully its not some sort of parasite thats harmful.
@@Bob-go3ht Nice🦀! The river is good for crabbing right now. We did see a black leech on one of our crabs but it quickly fell off. We believe it’s called crabbill leeches. They will be more common upriver where the fresh water is greater. They are harmful to fishes because they can suck their blood ( through their gills). They use the crab to lay their eggs on the shell, just like what they’ll do to a rock. In doesn’t penetrate the shell, so the crabs are still safe to eat😊.

We went to mantoloking bridge today from 6-11am. Left with 1 spot and 1 5.5 inch crab. Let go like a dozen of little ones. So sad.
