Hello from Tasmania, Australia. Thank you so much JD for these videos. Have just created this knot on a stone from my garden - it is FANTASTIC! Huge fan, going out searching for more rocks now! All the best to you ❤️🇦🇺
@@TyingItAllTogether i was wondering, if done on a smaller scale, these would hold up well enough to be used for a necklace pendant..maybe just wrapped and then using a drilled hole to hang it from...or if it would be too delicate & come unraveled. Enjoyed ur video & subscribed!
Just discovered your videos. They are fantastic! Had to get supplies (rocks outside my condo and some natural jute) today to try this. I love the beauty of the natural mediums and the intricate look of the knots around the rocks. Thank you so much for sharing. I look forward to more videos!
I wish you would write a book on this, wrapping rocks with leather. I would buy it today. It would be great to include a section on basics such as starting and ending, estimating cord, etc. Thanx! :)
Could you please show some of your more intricate rock wraps? Like the ones that pull up on the general RUclips page. These are awesome and thank you for sharing.
@TyingItAllTogether Can someone please tell me what diameter cord is best to use for a total beginner? I have been using cotton cord, but it is very thin, and I think I would be better trying leather cord in a larger diameter, until I get the hang of it. It is really hard to get here in New Zealand, and horrendous expensive, but I have seen 1mm or 3mm only so far - guessing the 3mm would be the better option? Also, with regards to cane strips - is there a particular type of cane I need to look for, and again, what size please? Thanks to anyone who can help me.
I miss you, my friend. :-) And yes...it’s difficult to keep ‘showing how’ at times. That said, I always tie and learn, and so felt it was time to share more. Best to you and your family, always. 🌿
Your tutorial is awesome, thank you so much! I’m addicted! I want to learn more. Do you have any books to purchase for this? Or will you be posting more? Love it! Thanks!!
Thank you for this video! this is gorgeous, and looks easy, hahah! I got some hemp cord, can I use this instead of the leather? I have started, but the cord keeps slipping:)
The original use was to connect bone fishing hooks to line, and wooden handles to axe heads (see video info for links and details). By showing you how to tie this technique on a rock, my hope is to illustrate this historical tying technique in its most basic and decorative form. From here, you can leave it as a decorated rock...or apply it to an axe handle, hammer, fishhook, or any other t-ed off bush-crafted design. 🌿
Checkout the “Kindness Rock Project.” It is a viral trend where people decorate (usually paint) pebbles or cobbles and leave them for others to find and collect or re-share elsewhere.
Outdoors With Shawn I have not either, but that was one of the uses I thought of. I thought the Maori Hook Lashing one would be cool with some kind of Moana related painting or quote...”The sea...It calls me.”
Not custom. Just a lacing fid. You’ll be able to see a bunch available for sale, online. I like them better than cylindrical and conical fids, on account they enable the cords to be popped up and down, without overly loosening the lines. 🌿
Looks like he is using about a 1mm or 1.5 mm wide round leather cord available at most good jewellery supply stores in many cool colours & bought by the metre or yard usually .I like Greek and Indian leather. Beware of cheap crap.
I have missed these videos...very glad you are back...
Thank you 🌿

Awesome, what do I do with the wraped rock now?
I love them all. Do you have a book on other designs
Rosie, I just of found JD and rock wrapping. I can watch the VIDS but I also need a book... Fingers crossed one is available now or soon.
Where do you buy the cord? And what is it called??
Interesting...
Is there a practical use for this or is it purely aesthetic?

@@TyingItAllTogether cool at least you did your research 👍
Hi JD is paracord ok for rock tying? If not, what do I need?
that's an awesome fid. custom?

@@TyingItAllTogether I noticed that about it. I'll have to look it up. it's so simple it's genius. thanks for the reply.
What size mm leather cord did you use? 1mm?
I want to try this , but I can’t find the string you use , is there a special name?
