    Video Music by David Shakiban (shakiban.com/)
    This week’s video shows how to make a supper tight stitched line, down the front spine of a rock, staff, piece of wood, or any other rectangular/cylindrical object. In this video I effectively show you a coxcombing technique used by sailors (old and new), to rap railings and other objects. Aside from adding a decorative flair and added grip to otherwise simple objects, coxcombing is a great way for sailors to pass time on a ship. Please Note: The use of Side Cutters can be replaced with Scissors, and the use of a Lacing Fid can be replaced with a Screwdriver or Butter Knife.

    Have just become hooked on rock wrapping! Thanks a million for the tutorial. Plenty of free material in my neck of the woods and the tourists will buy it! Income badly needed thanks to COVID.

    Exactly what I need today, a "Stiched Spine Wrapped Rock". Not, but I do have a "axe handle" shillelagh that would do nicely with this embellishment. Thanks for sharing.

    So instead of on a rock, I tried doing this on a small candle vessel that I made out of cement.
    The first few times I tried it didn’t look anything like a braid. I think it’s important to note that you kind of need to lock the stitch in place before wrapping it back around. It takes a few times to get it right. Be patient. Keep trying if you don’t get it right the first time. I have faith in you

    Hellos I am a French woman and I saw your tutorial. I love these stones with leather cordon. But I can't find them in France. Can you tell me the name of what you use and, where you buy it. It is just for me in my Burgundy land. I will never sell any stone but I love learning and you are a good teacher.
    Do you know also a good book of this art ? Thank you in advance for your kind reply Congratulations from France !

    So here's a question: Which wraps would you say are the most secure and sturdiest if you were to want to use them for functional weight-bearing uses, or are all decorative knots of this style purely ornamental? I'd like to be able to tie rocks I find with twine or paracord to be able to use them as heavy fishing weights, but the few knots I've practiced with seem like they're not designed to hold up under stress and abuse of being tugged on or rolled around in the surf. I'm thinking that macrame-style knotting might still be the best option here, but can you think of any other designs that might be quicker or easier to tie?

    Hi JD. Thank you for sharing your beautiful rocks with us! I am wanting to wrap a stone with jute and just have like maybe 3 bands while incorporating a Feng Shui coin (which has a hole in the center). Seems like this should be really easy, but I am having trouble finding any instructions. Is this something you have documented either in one of your books or on line somewhere? Thank! Andi

    Not sure why I find this so interesting, but I do. I crochet, and years ago I did a lot of macrame. Have you discussed where you get your cord and the right-sized rocks in an earlier video?

    • @TyingItAllTogether
      @TyingItAllTogether  4 года назад +2

      I haven’t made a video about the cord or rocks I use, on account you can use whatever cord, rock, cylindrical or round object you’d like to express these techniques upon :-) Some are sending me pictures of these techniques used on handles and staffs, for instance. Although, I mostly enjoy tying rocks 🌿

      A lot of things that aren't a necessity could be considered a waste of time. Knowing knotting techniques is actually a very good skill.
