  • This is a lashing that would fit on any carving with a bar, like on this koru, or an open koru too. It is similar to the ring bolt lashing I have used before also. I use this for my pounamu jade pendants binding.

    I've needed this lashing style for lingling-o pendants. Thank you so much for showing how you do this.

    Kia Ora Campbell, I hope you and your whanau had a good Christmas. I was wondering if you know how to do the plaiting for a bracelet strap. Someone has asked if I can make them one but I can't find anywhere how to do the thick plaiting I see used on them. If you ever happen to be doing one I'd love to see how it's done. Nga Mihi!

      Sorry bro, not an area I have delved into, I got a guy on the coast make me some macrame bracelets for a set once, I made the pounamu to go in it.

    I'm definitely going to try this! I'm curious, how does everything stay together after you snip the knots at the end?
    I'd be worried mine would completely come undone.

      Do you mean at the end of tha plait?

      Yup at the end, after you've done the whipping and you snip the knotted bits off. How does that stay together?

      @@madazart7579 8f the whipping is done right they should be solid, I haven't seen any come undone there. Have you seen the video on how I do that?

      Epic! Thank you, yea I've seen it and followed your instructions, it took me a few tries but was so stoked with the final outcome. I've just finished following your steps for this video, I'm up to braiding now. Honestly I love it, thank you for making it so easy to learn.

    Kia ora Campbell - Thanks for another really well explained tutorial! That's a really unusual looking pounamu - Is that Tangiwai?

    • @CampbellCarving
      @CampbellCarving  4 года назад +1

      Hey, not tangiwai, tbh I don't think this is jade. Taonga is probably a better way to describe this.

      It is possible, I'm not an expert though, there can be a variety of inclusions in jade, all sorts of different minerals.
