I graduated high school in 1972. One afternoon in the fall of 1971 I came home from school and what should be parked in the driveway? A new 1972 Torino Sport. I almost fainted. My Dad was good at surprises.
Nice to see commercials from a time when the companies weren't lecturing you on the supposed issues of the day. Anyway, sometime in the early 70s I remember that my parents were in between cars and had to rent one for a short while. The one they rented was a 1970 Mercury Cougar, which was similar to Mustang in those days. I don't remember the car itself though, just the fact that they had rented it. Otherwise my parents never owned a FoMoCo product. But now I appreciate all older cars, and the ads for them.
The 68-69 t-bird was sweet.1970 had that ugly nose. I had a 69 428 offset. It was so beautiful. The rear seat was huge and had brushed aluminum trim. I used to take late-night dates and use it....☻
*It be awesome if you could go to any of the American auto manufacturers, (even the late American Motors) and order any car they ever built, no matter what year or model! I'll take one of each!*
In 1985 I bought a car to drive to high school for $700.00. My 1970 Country Squire had just 32,000 miles, today....I still own it. It now has 79,000 miles. I just cannot part with the Dragon Wagon
6:52-7:16 What song is that? It sounds very dated, but very retro-cool. Kind of has a "Let the Sun Shine In" (by the 5th Dimension) feel to it. Tried to learn the chord changes by ear on the piano this morning. Best I could come up with in the first phrasing was: Bsus4... B, E, A, C, G, D-F#-Bsus4 (Detuned a 1/4 tone (Concert A = 450 Hz. You're not going to be able to play this on an instrument that can't digitally detune off of A440, because it's played between the keys in the video). Cool riff on piano to hum along & harmonize with.
Dad had a 70 Ford LTD country Squire ....... fake wood panel s. Made it to 75000 miles then had problems. The body rotted out too! New England salted roads. 351 Cleveland engine. Next car for him was a Toyota! LOL!
"What's our marketing budget this year for the company?" "About 40 million dollars. Oh wait, sorry, that was just for the Torino.." "Damn, we're gonna have to make some cuts. Our marketing budget has been reduced this year."
Cool ads. Their cars were cool then. There's more competition now. I didn't get to drive one of these cars. My first car was a 93 Escort. Not one of Ford's best. I bought a Honda Civic last year. I'm glad I turned Japanese with cars.
A wagon wife! Well, if your a wagon wife driving that LTD, your husband better be bringing home some serious cash from his job. He is not a guy on the shipping dock like Archie Bunker or a guy on the production floor!( those people took the bus)

Back when you could tell a make and model from another! Take me back please!

When I was a kid we had a 1972 Ford LTD Country Squire with thr wood grain trim & loved riding in the far back seats. That ad brought back memories.

That Ford wagon looks so cool 10 seater, compared with the plastic euro suv stuff on batteries we have to have now.
That Torino was sleek!
They gave the Ranchero the same front end - awesome but pretty rare now! 💡
The 1970 Mustang is where the styling for the 2010-2014 came from.
I wish I was back to the 1970s so I could see mustang cars

My Dad had a 1970 also! 390 motor. In 1982 I took my driver's test in our big brown with wood wagon, with a PA State Cop with me!
Sounds like Dick Tufeld on a few. "DANGER, Will Robinson!"

Crazy how car ads have changed.
It’s funny they used to think these boxy things were aerodynamic haha
No CGI in 1970. That was a real cut-a-way car at 7:50. Wonder if it still exists?

Robert Vaughn voices commercials at the time
They have really changed!!!!!!
Where do you suppose that yellow "70 Mach ended up?
Music reminds me of the style of some of the older episodes of sponge bob
