Hey man, what kind of emulsion are you using? Any coating suggestions? My image might be under exposed if the emulsion peels off, correct? Idk :-/ haven’t had problems before, but I just switched over to clear transparencies.
Hey wondering if you could help me? I have just used a thin layer of Diazo screen print emulsion and exposed using a 250 Watt lamp for 10 minutes, as instructed. The image was burnt into the screen, however i really struggled when washing my negative out. After 10 minutes of pressurised water; nothing. The lighter green negative was on the screen, but it would just not wash out. I am going to try the process again but leave my screen exposing for longer, maybe an hour. My image is a bitmap photograph, and has lots of tiny dots, maybe this has an effect?
Omg ive been shooting the image out on the wrong side and it always blows out 😂 well, thats the point of you taking the time to make these videos right?! Thank you sir!
Wait a minute... ML is right down the street from me. Ok Now I gotta stop by because I have not found another RUclipsr who is as awesome when it comes to delivery of straight forward and honest helpful screen print knowledge.
Thank you Cam, Just started screenprinting in Kenya n I swear i've used up so much emulsion figuring Exposure n Washout things out, i thought i was Jinxed. !! Watching this video I know I've been destroying my screens.. Thanks 100%
Great information. I have watched many hours of silk screen videos and yours was the first I have heard to wash out on the substrate side only. Now I know why my 305 screens are blowing out! Thanks
Got the same question, 55lines per inch!? So how do you calculate that? So most thin line? So if max is 55lines per 1 inch, so if you have 2mm line, then 55lines divided by 25-(mm in inch ) is 2,2lines per 1m, so if letter of line is 2mm so then 4,4 lines per inch? So 4,4. X 4,5 = 19.8 mash? 🤯🔫 buum fried brain 😂😂 how do you know what number to do with 4,5 If i have a 2mm letter or 5mm letters 20mm letters? How do you get lines per inch Them?
Man so many notes taken!!.. Marking the glass blew my f%#$ing mind with how simple an idea!!! And that halftone equation is very cool! I use an Brown Mfg. exposure unit It takes 13 min to do 1 screen.. but we are about to make a major upgrade!! Awesome content I don't think I've ever hit the subscribe button any faster!!
Loving that squeegee action bros! I learned to print this way, but I regressed to stencils for home printing. Equally as good results. Thanks for your info.
what kind of exposure unit is this? I like how it has guides for the screen so it can be done perfectly . I want to purchase this type of exposure unit
Happy new Year Cam and Print Fam. Not sure if you did something different with the audio but it sounds great. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder but F THAT welcome back LOL
Hey man, awesome video just subscribed. I own a print shop for stickers and small shirt products so just heat transfer. Ive wanted to get into screen printing, so im going through alll your videos to try and learn!
Thanks for posting all these videos. Very helpful. I have a question though. Since you recommend washing out the screen from the outside, why do you not get the blow outs on the back as well? Thank you
It's like you read my mind....i woke up today to start my first print project and i am at the point where i am ready to burn screens.....i have a four color press, 156 screens and used four color separation to make my negatives. Am i on the right track? I have always been an airbrush artist, I've tried vinyl and now i am excited to get into screen printing. I don't have top notch equipment...built an exposure unit with a storage underneath that has a bathroom vent fan to remove humidity and a small space heater...also built my washout booth from a utility sink and corrugated plastic. do you have any advice to offer?
Nope you are going the same route I went start small make sure you like it then, start buying better equipment slowly, try not to go into debt early on.
Thanks that's good to know...i'm an artist by nature so being able to print my creations to garment i'm sure i'm gonna fall in love with it....minus the trials and tribulations. Looks like it all worked out pretty well for you. You do an awesome job explaining the processes....keep doing what you're doing. Whether you know or not it certainly helps encourage a beginner to take the leap and gives the confidence to be able to pull it off knowing that you are getting advice from someone experienced. I'm in a city where there is really no direct competition and i have a big client base from the airbrushing I've done over the years. I like that you are real people and act like some of the people i hang with.....not some company rep moving and sounding automated and scripted....keep up the excellent work my guy...looking forward to more videos.
Thanks for the great vid, I am completing my set up and was wondering if the soak tank is essential for burning screens/reclaiming. Thanks for your help in advance!

Hey I will have some many problems to burn my screen , I have a lot of experience but now I used different exposure and my screens for some reason then washing put so easily.
Strange question, I know Phoenix area has pretty hard water, have you ever noticed anything with the quality of water causing mineral deposits in the emulsion when you're soaking them or even washing out?

What kind of light should you have on the exposure room? The emulsion can be exposed to sunlight while drying?
That bit about washing from the one side just made everything make so much sense. My God. I've blown out so many screens because of this...
This video was very informative!!! I was under the assumption that you needed a dark room!!

I leave it out long enough for the water to completely evaporate. Usually 5, to 10 min is more than adequate in direct sunlight.
