Our Guinea Pig Moondust has lost her pregnancy - she is fine : Part Twelve of our Pregnancy Series

- Sadly, the pregnancy that Moondust had, didn't result in babies ! She delivered her two this morning (Friday 19th July 2024), but neither were alive. These things do happen, and we felt it important to cover many of the issues and give a Moondust update in this video. She is looking fine, and healthy, we will of course keep a very close eye on her in the coming days.
This video will conclude Moondust in this particular series of Pregnancy videos. As the weather was so nice today in England, Moondust was out on the grass for many hours today along with Storm and Stardust - these two females she lives with - they are related to her.

Thank you to everyone that has watched previous Parts of this Combined Pregnancy Series - we now have videos as we have followed both Democritus AND Moondust as they go through their pregnancies.
This is PART TWELVE of our SECOND video series on the pregnancy journey of our Guinea Pigs. These are planned Pregnancies.
For this series, we will be following our Females Democritus and Moondust - Dad of the litters will be Figaro. He was the Dad to the first litter that Democritus had earlier in 2024. We introduced the three together on Sunday 7th April 2024.
Guinea Pigs are Rodents and also are called Cavy's. Female Guinea Pigs are Sows and Male Guinea Pigs are Boars.

We have had Guinea Pigs for many years as pets and our breeding is very low level and also very well planned indeed. We are well under our capacity and we also have lots of time for our pets. If you are thinking on breeding your Guinea Pigs, please ensure you have read up lots, watched lots of videos and also thought about it once again ! You have to consider that female Guinea Pigs can have litters of up to 6 babies.....where will they eventually go ?!?
All of our Guinea Pigs are well cared for, weighed every week and you can read reviews of our care, conditions etc on our Website (link underneath).
I also speak at many local children's groups such as Cubs, Beavers, Brownies and Guides - discussing Animal Welfare to them in a clear, honest manner. These talks are very popular and the message of Animal Welfare is listened to - see the reviews on our Website.

I'm glad she is okay!!!!! Rest in peace her two babies.
Thank you for those kind words. She is doing all good - out on the grass most of today - Storm and Stardust are treating her well. So far, so good. We'll get her back to 100%.

So sorry to hear about the bad news. I was really looking forward to seeing the new babies.
So many of us were. one was mainly white and the other looked fairly Dalmatian markings. The main thing is that Moondust is all good and gets back to 100% - there will be other days. She is looking good already. These things will take a bit of time, success is never guaranteed.

Thank you so much. She is all fine this morning - have just checked on her - and she was out on the grass all yesterday, as you can see on the video. Will take a few weeks to get back to 100%, but as it's Summer, we can run her on the grass quite a bit when the weather is good.

Sadly, these things do happen - the main thing is that Moondust is well and will be fine. We'll look out for her and not rush her back.

When Stripe gets older and set up with a borrow-in, do you think Moondust will be able to try again too? ❤
The plan is to put Moondust in with Stripe and 'Ted 2' - maybe not quite at the same time as Stripe meets Ted 2. We might stagger it slightly. It totally depends on how Moondust goes in the next few weeks with her weight - she was 1140g when she first went in with Figaro - so we need her to that point before anything else really.
We do have the benefit of it being Summer, so we should have her out on the grass quite a bit - weather permitting - that'll all help with her getting back to 100%. Ted 2 will be over her along with a female that he is presently living with, so we will actually get two 'visiting' us ! I've not seen any photos yet. The female won't have any babies here, she'll be off back home to settle and have them - but we'll have her here for a handful of weeks - all will be good.
