Love this channel, just found it today through Reddit. I’m always looking for more ADK backcountry content and for some reason your stuff never shows up. Keep up the vids man, they’re really high quality and very fun to watch you explore my home mountains.
Sick vid love the work you put into this :) I was wondering what mods/upgrades would you recommend for someone who only skied resorts? Looks like I would need a set of skins and special pin bindings but other than that is there anything else I would need to build out my gear? Thanks!!
My question is where Nick went. : ) He has not posted this year yet. To answer your question... you ll need both boots and bindings at minimum.. The boots have holes for the pins at the front, but also allow to unlock the upper section of the shell so it is movable and you can walk in it comfortably. There are too many types for different purposes so I wont go to details. I think his binding - the Shifts - are pretty good for east coast -- They are slightly heavier than most pin bindings, but sturdier and actually have DIN on both heal and toe, so safer on the descents. And you can take them to resort too. Most people woudl get dedicated touring skis... they are lighter and perform differently.. but i meet people out there who have resort skis with touring binding on them, and on the downhill they are usually the winners. :) be safe!
Great video. Do you have a GPS track of your tour ? And I read on the internet that it is prone to avalanche. Do you know where we can find information about the current conditions ? Thanks
Great video!
I skied Rattlesnake Mtn (Willsboro) and Quinn Mtn (Peru) that day. The weather was perfect. Glad you enjoyed & shared it.
