But the thing is, they are always looking for IT people in their department, and they hire internally first, so now that I have my foot in the door. I am waiting for one of the positions to open up. But the people I work with are great, and my boss is a great down to earth guy.

This is a great course. I used to teach basic computers to Seniors and used to teach a highly scaled down version of this. Now I'm taking training for my CompTIA A+ Certification and these courses are a great help.

I'm having trouble even figuring out what I should and shouldn't take notes about seeing as how I never was a good student. I envy your guy's ability to learn while doing daily tasks 😂

I had been out of using PC's on a regular basis and the latest things for maybe close to 5-10 years! I think that this is great for those like us who are just finding out about things like: solid state drives, (computers without hard disks with defrag and scandisk utilities), etc. Do they still have CMOS batteries in them? This may be one of the answers in my quest for learning about the PC issues and A+ of 2023-24. Great!

The questions will however not be the "official" ones from the exam since that is not allowed by vendor. The questions will however measure you on the same skills and cover the same objectives the exam covers

Thanks for working so hard on this. I can tell you enjoy what you do. I do as well! But am just starting out with the A+, than following with a diploma right after. Really nice way of learning the basics, laying down a solid foundation. I would recommend this to any high-school kid that wants to work while they go to college/Uni. Because this will get you that 2-5 years of magically unattainable work experience every employer asks every entry level employee to have.
This course is absolutely perfect and helping me as I've just started a 12 week IT Technician bootcamp which I'm studying for the comptia a + and microsoft 365 thank you for this course and sharing with everyone and love that the modules are in order that I'm learning on comptia certmaster course.

My first PC was a beast with 640k RAM and maybe a 50mb hard drive; plus I paid extra for a math co-processor! I still have a book called, “Build Your Own 386 and Save a Bundle”. Times have changed for sure! I studied a lot of IT and programming over the decades but I ended up being an academic Statistician/Staff software support guy/Teacher and now at 60 I am “retired” and now looking to earn some extra money doing IT and Cybersecurity work. A newer version of the audio passthrough Earc was added as well. Now previously DP 1.4 was used primarily for gaming because of the VRR support and higher refresh rates as well. Whereas an HDMI cable was previously limited to a 60hz 4k output without variable refresh rate (meaning your display would not adjust to frame drops during gameplay, leading to jutter. Compare this to a 144-240hz refresh rate which varies during frame drops, and the reason for using DP with monitors over hDMI cables for monitors is monstrous. Not sure how applicable that is to this this lesson, but it's important IMO.
Use of ESD equipment has always been a contentious issue. More so because it is possible to 'wound' components, shortening their life expectancy without breaking them altogether. Some factors to bear in mind are: Here in the UK static build up is often far less than in the arid, air-conditioned offices of Silicon Valley where these standards were set. But not always. Laptop components are less robust, and you don't have a handy metal chassis to discharge into. Employers may require techs to use ESD mat and wrist strap as part of quality assurance. For field engineers, ESD equipment adds to the mystique of your job, emphasising that there is more to it than changing a lightbulb.
If you look at an Amazon fire stick, the only connectors are a USB micro (female) for power, and HDMI (male): the sound *has* to go through the HDMI connection as there is no separate sound output.

CompTIA is an american company. The certification is international but since it's an american company the stuff is all 100% applicable in the US :) Its valid in most countries in the world and the exams can be written at an authorized testing center in most countries too

SCSI (pronounced scuzzy, or sometimes 'sexy') was always high-end equipment. This is why some of it is still in use.
