Wow! I would nerver have guessed that you could make a rib pattern with no pearl stitches. I love the look of it. I will make a swatch right now. Many thanks from Sweden.
Thank you Joanne, I make the same stitch in An easier way : I put on an od number of stitches, and then : 2 knit, 2 purl, repeat till the end but you must knit the Last stitch, and you always repeat this row, it gives the same result, kind greetings from, Marie in France.
How to do this pattern in round? I understand that every second round i switch from knitt to purl. What about the slip stich? So the first row will be same as described above, then the secon row will be purls (instead off knitts) and the slip stitch would be with the working yarn behind?
How beautifully yiu explained that!! Thank you! As opposed to 😔 'Jacques Knits' YT Channel 😔 which is unfortunately the first thing that comes up when searching for anything fishermen's ribbed stitch or salvage edge or wyif I had avoided using her technique for years and used other videos to guide me But if I want clean edges ----- atleast hers is the one that claims that her pattern will give clean edges fit a fisherman ribbed scarf N hence i took this as a challenge this time and went on ahead with her but alas it's the same confusing as it was 😔😔😔😔😔 I've learnt a lot because of going through other videos but it just wastes time if that one video which has claimed to deliver something dies not deliver it She's explained it sooooo bad that I hv to watch multiple videos to just know what she's saying. @@JoannesWeb Can you please help me to understand how I can use this stitch in the round to make a Hat? I'm sorry, I'm trying to learn but I don't understand when you say to do the opposite of the Cartridge Belt Rib stitch in the round with even number of stitches. Any help is Greatly Appreciated. Thank you, Renee
Row 2 starts with k1.. Multiple of 4 plus 3 2 row repeat sl1f=with yarn in front, pass 1 stitch purlwise Repeat from * to * Row 1.- knit 3, *sl1f, knit 3*. Row 2.- knit 1, sl1f, knit 3 end with sl1f, k1 Repeat these 2 rows for pattern.
Yes. Some people dislike purling. I have a student who will NOT purl. Makes beautiful things but says she knits to relax, not to make "difficult" things. In any event, I'm with you, slipping the stitch is as much work as purling.
Just what I was looking for! Thank you!❤

Love your videos! Your instructions are so clear and you explain how you do your stitches so well.
These are such clear instructions for beginners. Thank you Joanne!
This would make a lovely scarf.

Gorgeous
How do you bind off on this
On any row, knit it as shown and as soon as you have 2 stitches on the right needle, you bind off.
@JoannesWeb Bind off in pattern.
How would i knit this in the round?
This looks like it could be great ribbing for socks.
How can we make this in the round?
On even number rows, you do the opposite.

When counting stitches (19) at the very beginning, do you include the slip knot as a stitch or no? Tried this three times and row two has 20 stitches
is it the same for knitting in the round?
No. It isn't. I'll make a video on it, soon.
My Row 2 does not line up the rib pattern when I K-1 then slip 1 wyf. Why?
Row 2 starts with k1..
Multiple of 4 plus 3
2 row repeat
sl1f=with yarn in front, pass 1 stitch purlwise
Repeat from * to *
Row 1.- knit 3, *sl1f, knit 3*.
Row 2.- knit 1, sl1f, knit 3 end with sl1f, k1
Repeat these 2 rows for pattern.
If using this on a sweater, do you use smaller needles for this rib, like you would for a regular ribbing?
You could. Use it like if you would regular ribbing.
Love you ❤️
Très bien
Thank you.
Thanks mam
It's a lovely stitch, but do people really hate purling that much? To me, slip stitches are just as time consuming.
