It is so comforting to see your "old" hands! My hands are old too, and lumpy and bumpy, with age - this makes me feel great - if you can do it, I can too. And the way you explained this pattern is very clear and concise. Thanks a lot.
In simple agreemnt I feel very secure at sight of these lovely old experienced hands on this vid been looking for experienced tutorial teachers ,ps nice to meet you "barb"
This was the very best description of Fishersman's Rib I have watched. I Eastern European continnental knit, my yarn feed is on the left ( I also used to knit in the back of the loop). It’s been a learning process to relearn knitting. I need clear videos. This is perfect! Thanks
I have found myself struggling with this stitch pattern, but the way you've explained it so easily, I am going to give this a try. I've watched different videos on this, and they do this different ways. I really appreciate the way you've explain this Ms Jo, (if you don't mind me calling you that). Update: I've tried this, and it became easier! Thank you again! This is great!!
Hi JoAnne. I love your knitting techniques and tutorials. You’d make a great teacher! I’m currently doing your fisherman’s rib scarf and was hoping you’d have a hat pattern to match. As you know fisherman’s rib patterns vary. Yours is an easy one. Here’s my fingers crossed 🤞
Thank you very much for your clear demonstration , with set up row etc. I got the pattern I wanted, which I was not able to following a few other videos.
I liked how you made the camera closer to see. I've shyed away from these stitches but you showed how it's very easily done! I like your videos. THANKYOU! 🧶💜🧶
Thank you so much for this video!! I have been interested in using this stitch since I found out about it, but other videos demonstrating this stitch go too quickly and don't zoom in enough to really understand what's going on. Love your videos so much. Your explanations are super clear and easy to follow and your voice is really calming. I'm going to try one of your scarf tutorials here soon ☺
This was very helpful. I was trying to learn this stitch from other tutorials and I was knitting below on the multiple strand stitch! Not sure what I created but it wasn't fisherman's rib🤣
Thank you so much for this instructional video. It looks so easy to do when you do it. Next time I knit the Fisherman’s Rib, I will review your video before starting my project!
You explained it so well! I was trying to learn this from a book and couldn't make heads or tails of it. Also I had no idea you could make lifelines, so thanks!
I discovered your videos when I was trying to learn c2c crocheting. They are always well done and clearly illustrate the stitches. Thank you for making them.
Thank you for this tutorial 👍😃 I've discovered that the pattern looks beautiful also with just knitting the first row then starting the pattern (skipping the ow with pearls). I'm not a pearl person 😉🌸
can you do knit only in the round. I have been doing the fisherman's rib knit one below, purl one round, and then purl one below and knit alternating rounds. It would be a lot faster for me if the knit, knit one below could be done in the round. Thank you for your tutorials. I started watching you years ago when I decided to give knitting another try-and found that I could hold my yarn in my left hand because I learned crochet when I was young, and couldn't get myself to learn knitting holding the yarn in my right hand. You have taught me a lot, and I am so greatful for that. You are a wonderful teacher 🍎😄❤
Hi there. I am making baby beanies and thought to try them in Fishermans rib. Your method was definitely the easiest, but now I struggle with the decreases at the top. Do you have a tutorial on the decrease and what to do with that stitch in the following row? Thank you for the very cleare instructions.
Hi Joanne! I was wondering if you could help me please? I started a top in a stitch pattern of odd number cast on a two row repeat- row 1 k to end, row 2, p1 k1b to end. I am having trouble binding off neatly or decreasing to create the v-neck and shaping towards the shoulder straps, in a tidy way. Since I'm just slightly an intermediate knitter, my knowledge isn't all that extensive but I'm hoping you have a video tutorial or something because I cannot find any visual instruction for this stitch for decrease. I absolutely love your tutorials by the way and I've already learned so much from you.
Find the middle stitch for the neck and find out how many stitches you need to bind off for the armholes and the neck. Then see how many rows does it take from beginning of armhole and the v neck. Make a "map".
In Ukraine all the knitters make this rib a bit differently: in the second row instead of knitting the stich from the row below, yarn over and slide the next stich onto your right needle, without knitting it. In tne next row you just knit the y.o. and un-knitted stich together. I think this way of making fisherman's rib makes the fabric more bulky. But this also means you'll use more yarn
Knitting in the round, do I still knit in the beginning and end of each row? If not, what do I start and finish with? I'm knitting my baby wool pants, cast on 112 stitches.
hello maam i want to know that how can i knit 1 nit 1 pearl means 1 knit stitch with out knitting 1pearl and 2 row only pearliing whole row in a circular needles
What is the best yarn and weight to use for this pattern? Please help, I want to make a scarf but the yarn worsted isn't giving me the thickness it should in my practice piece

Thank you! I'm going to be doing this pattern and saying "we knit, and then we knit on the stitch below" in my mind over and over :)
I was looking for this Rib and Joanne you’re the best. 🤩

How does it work in the round? Do you have to purl every other round?
thank you
Great instructions
Thank you
You're the best 💟
خیلی قشنگ مرسی که بافتنی نشان میدهد
Thanks a lot
There is no mention of purling in the written description.
Thank u so much
Some people purl the Double yarn(bump).
How many stitches should I put for 22” size cap or how should work out the stitches. Help.
You need to make a swatch, tessie. With the needles and yarn you will use. Everyone knits differently. It's important to get your gauge.
Good instruction but I would have like to see the yarn or swatch in the thumb nail; it's the reason I clicked.
Knitting in the round, do I still knit in the beginning and end of each row? If not, what do I start and finish with? I'm knitting my baby wool pants, cast on 112 stitches.
You don't do the knit stitches at the edges when knitting in the round.
Gracias 😚😚😚👍👍👍
Can you do this in crochet with the longer needles.
I'm sure you can. I'll check and make a video.
hello maam i want to know that how can i knit 1 nit 1 pearl means 1 knit stitch with out knitting 1pearl and 2 row only pearliing whole row in a circular needles
With circular needles, you alternate, (1 row of knit on stitch under and k 1 normal and you knit 1) and 1 row of purl under the stitch, purl 1
Hi.. How do you add on the knitting after you've done the Fishermen rib lining?
Lining? I don't understand but if you mean the base rows, you can add stitches on the sides.
is this reversible ? thanks!
Yes, it is
how would you bind off?
In pattern
What is the best yarn and weight to use for this pattern? Please help, I want to make a scarf but the yarn worsted isn't giving me the thickness it should in my practice piece
I usually use worsted weight for scarves. Caron's Simply Soft is a good one.
@@JoannesWeb Thank you so much, you are the only one who actually gave me an answer that made sense. Love all your videos
Soft chunky wool or lionheart is nice too
thanks a lot of maam
