I will say this is one of the best review i have seen in RUclips for a long time.
You are so solid in your production. You know to cut and clip and comment on the right stuff.
E.g. class break, and another mic standing in the way. so smooth with saying it, and remove it.
With all that sad, i love the blank test. first time that i see (hear) a test like that.
And for my myself, i can't really hear that much of a difference.
but at the end of day, this is made for others to hear my better, and not for me to hear anything.
I will say i was pretty hook on the USB-X this time, and the silent mute button is the big part i really want.
The only part i could miss from this review is how it looks in generel on a boom arm.
Because all the platform that follow a mic now days, is just a waste.
i think most that one a better mic, will in most case have a boom arm as well.
All in all, really great review. lot of stuff to think about now for me. :)
Excellent review! The information structure, production quality, practicity. You are doing great content, thank you mate.
amazing review as always
LOVED the blind comparison test. Personally it was close for me between 3 and 4, but that may just be your voice 😄 Awesome review!
First time viewer... I must say I dropped a like just for the all-important kitty purr test! 😆
Great review and production quality.
good reviews as always
Loving these Mic. I have at2020 USB original, and these is a great upgrade for me, especially considering 24bits, which I need. The fact it's USB i can always take it with me and connect it to a laptop, and have a great experience, and I'm loving the fact that mute button is silent. For me 150 bucks is nothing, taking in terms that in 6+ years I used original one, it covered it's expenses in a week, so yeah, 150 buck for a work tool that will cover my next 5+ years of work, is a great deal.
Don't waste your money. I just returned my AT 2020 X to Guitar Center for a full refund after trying it on both of my smartphones using 3 different adapters and the phone did not power on and will not power on regardless of what type of phone you have so Save your money...
@@FreedomTown Great idea buying mostly PC mic for a phone. Don't listen to these nonsense if you are like other 99.9% of people, who are buying it for use with PC or Mac. No one will waste their money, if they will be using device as intended.
@@ERP_Klim Audio Technica has resorted to making false compatibility claims of having smartphone capability when the AT 2020 X clearly does not work on a smartphone at all whatsoever regardless of what phone you have. Audio Technica use to be a decent company and it is sad to see the company resort to fraud in order to try to increase sales.
@@FreedomTown Works on my phone, and You HAVE to use apps that DO support USB C external microphones. So it's clearly your lack of knowledge and unobjective hatred.
Hey man, thanks for the content, greate review! And kitty kest is the best as well =)
MOST EXCELLENT COMPARISON!!! Subbed just as a thank you. I don't do much audio tech but you'll definitely be the first place I visit. Audio Tecnica was clearly the best to my ears and the all in one software. The others sounded cloudy. I need crisp. I don't plan to use XLR or an interface.
Thank you for subscribing! It’s definitely appreciated! I am glad you enjoyed the review and that it helped you out. AT products do tend to have a nice crispness to them. Let me know if you have any questions once you buy your mic!
This sounds just awesome 🤩
Awesome review :D, thanks for sharing. I have a question: what microphones will be on the A /A+ list?
great video! thank you!!
I like what they did with the USB cable adapter. It’s sounds ok to me but it didn’t have much rejection so if someone has a bad room it won’t do them any favors.
thanks for your comment that XLRs and audio interfaces have dropped prices significantly. maybe i will invest in that instead of USB mic.
Blue is back! It truly is the most important part of the mic review. I look forward to the end of year compilation of ALL KPT
It's definitely going to happen!
Great video, thanks! Exactly what l needed. l was going to buy the AT but (surprisingly) the Yeti sounds better to my ears (more low end). l'll buy the 2 of them and test them at home (I want my wife to sound better on her videocalls). The 'purr test' was the icing on the cake 8:50! 😅😻😻😻
I could already tell #1 was the best and #2 was close and the rest, no good! Great comparison.
Omg I love how ur cat is so chill letting you hold it xD
What surprised me the most was the MXL 990.
Audio-layman here so I could be wrong, but it sounded "clearer" than the others. So much so, that I was able to pick it up during the final test.
You deserved a like.
We need more of your reviews AH! SSL2 Vs Audient id14 mkii - which one would you recommend? My main purpose is for voiceover/audiobook narration. Thanks!
Thank you!
That's a tough one! I LOVE both of those companies and interfaces. The preamps on the Audient are just amazing! For voiceover, I would say they are ideal. I do love the 4k option on the SSL, but it isn't quite as clean as the Audient, still fantastic though. I personally like post-processing, so I want to get the cleanest sound I can at the source. So personally, for voiceover, I would take the audient. If you want to save money (if you were referring to the SSL2 and not the SSL2+) I think you will still be very happy with the SSL, especially if you like the 4k SSL tone.
Bottom line, you are picking between two really great interfaces, especially at their price points. Neither of them are a bad choice.
@@AudioHotline Thank you!
maybe I missed it but since you obviously didn't like this one, what's your recommendation for a solid USB mic for the $? I know you gave the previous version an A, so maybe that now that it's priced even better?
I’ve got 2 of these mics !
Tanoy sounded gooood
Hoping you would get to review the BOYA M1000 Microphone. 🤞🤞
Hello, I need your help/advice AH.. I have been using USB mics my whole content creator career. Started with the Blue Yeti and recently upgraded to the Fifine k658.
but honestly it is still not the sound I want, I want really high quality sound that youtubers with 1 million subs have.
That being said..
What is your HONEST opinion on the microphone I should purchase? My max limit for spending is $200.
Thank you for reply.
If you mute in Discord, is the light switching to red? Or only if muted on the device itself?
Honestly love this mic but i dont know if i should use the pop filter or not lol, it sounds so much raspy and crispy without the filters on
Man the 2040 sounds muffled but at the same time does better rejecting, don't know what to choose
Can I plug this into my iPhone via lighting cable ?
Question: What should I get, the AT2020ubs-X for 129, or the AT2020usb+ for for 82? Basically, is the X 70 pounds better than the +?
I really depends on your needs. e.g. the mute button.
(for me, i really need and like to have that. So i know for a fact the mic is muted when something happens in the background)
But i also feel you in terms of the price. So i will for sure need to really think about this for the coming days.
what is the difference between the USBx and the USB+
What about AT2020USB-XP?
Sounds great for USB microphone.
For streamers the look of the microphone matters alot
The AT 2020 X will not power on using any smartphone you have. I just returned it today at Guitar Center after trying it on both of my phone's using 3 different adapters so don't waste your money people.
What phone do you use and what app are you using when you try this? These are a big part of it.
@@AudioHotline can you do a video to this problem maybe he didnt plugged his charging cable at the same time for power
Nice just bought the usbx
How do you like it so far?
You like it?
@@skibby1x237 its been great. just plug it in and it works like a charm. Sounds good and looks good!
What about Shure Mv7?
I see that its doing great noise reduction !
Barely started the video and I can already tell the problem with this: Bark just did a review for a mic that's competitive with this for $30. For the price of this thing I would just go XLR and get a better sound AND a better upgrade path.
Yeah, you nailed it! This is practically what I say in the review section.
This being $150, is SILLY 🙃
It doesn’t even have a great software like the Rode For $50 cheaper.
@@AudioHotline Does this stack up much better at $115?
@@TheLordAnhus I like it more at $115… but it really just depends on what you are planning to record.
@@AudioHotline is this one of the better sounding usb condenser mics? I make music
"Desk to Mouth Ratio" --- That's a new spec.
4:05 Channeling your inner Ryan Reynolds.
But I don't like type c. The port is so flimsy and the old fat type b was fine for this.
Have you ever tried Boya Mics? I have seen the Boya BY-CM5 in several RUclips videos where it's recommended, I'm in the market to get a USB Mic I like this AudioTechnica, but this Boya is making me thing because of the price... Thanks!
Usb plus - 85€
Usb-X - 140€
Choices im getting favour the og model
Light doesn't turn off... you have ot unplug it.
Bandrew must be so proud to see his DNA everywhere.
He is an AH member!
@@AudioHotline Well how about that!
I don’t understand why all of these reviews wet them self on the USB adapter
If you try as many products as we do, the little things make a big difference.
would you say Shure MV88 is worse than AT2020?
They are pretty different mics. If it’s for spoken word and you are able to have the mic close(ish) to your mouth then I would say the at2020 and/or at2020usb-x are better options. From more of a distance I would assume the MV88 would do a little better.
Yeah, thanks amazon, thanks for mentioning me that you needed to buy some weird bigass cable in order to use that.
I really appreciate, now I'm just going to return that useless microphone because I dont have that cable and i'm not spending another dime .
pickled WHAT?
