I think tracing is still good to learn things when it comes to eyes and hair and stuff. Something where the underlying shape is actually the shape shown. And then it becomes muscle memory after a while.

@@retrosuperheroart2202 Yeah part of the solution. If I can trace it to perfection i clearly have the ability to draw it. Then it is just an issue of the correct placement and muscle memory. I asked this because i just got a feeling you have traced alot. I have never traced a cool drawing and I think i should absolutely start doing it.

Silvestri was always under rated in my opinion, it seemed like back in the 80s and 90s, he wasn't as appreciated as he is now. seeing how much current professionals talk about how good he was with subtly lines and dynamic posing.

It always blows my mind that he was working at a gym front desk just doodling when he decided to give comics a try. I'm sure he was getting inspiration for the fashion magazines that were lying around.

Oddly enough I’m pretty sure Marc has said in interview with Near Mint Condition that his biggest artistic influence was John Buscema then followed by Frank Frazetta which considering he started at Marvel on Conan is unsurprising.

Good morning guys, here we have an anagram for actor Steve Buscemi known for playing in 1992 Quentin Tarantino's movie "Reservoir Dogs" and in 1995 "Desperado" alongside Antonio Banderas (also known for voicing the Puss in Boots character in the Shrek movies...) the movie Desperado is an bloody Ultraviolent filled with Sex Revenge movie about a Mariachi (a guitar player and singer) whose wife gets murdered by a Cartel Boss , he ten goes on a violent rampage all across Mexico trough different bars to find the man responsible "Butcho", let's move on shall we "Art" is probably a subliminal reference (again) to the serial Killer of the Terrifier movies "Art the Clown", "Superhero" on the other hand could be two different things : "Wade you can finally matter, you can be a heroes among heroes" from Deadpool and Wolverine (2024) or it could be the final monologue with actor David Carradine and actress Uma Thurman in the movie Kill Bill volume 2 : "Are you calling me a Superhero ? I'm calling you a Killer, a natural born Killer..." Anyway don't worry rest assured that I will not start drawing or painting for that matter so you can point your fingers right at me and say something's wrong in my head. Peace Next

Can we agree Silvestri was awesome! I became a great fan of his X Men way later on, my original contact with his art was Top Cow stuff, but boy those X Men books of his are gorgeous! not overly complicated, but his talent just comes across in every panel. No disrespect to Busceman! but sadly i haver little from him. I have some inpout, personal experience and knwoledge here. Silvestri has an obvious influence from Fashion, he was obviously influenced by the back the famous Top Models. so knowing this the comparision you make on how Silvestri had more upshots than Busceman might be because fashion magazines had catwalk pictures, in those the models stand higher than the viewer so you had a wide variety of upshots on those mags. i never had trouble with upshots, that is why i say is part personal experience, i used those mags a lot when i started drawing. LOL i have Thierry Mugler's art and there is Lady Deathbird in real life!

You can see Marc's style is a cross between John's and Walter Simonson's. I'd say its Marc's figure work that shines best his faces are kinda generic. Marc is always improving he gets better with age.

Marc Silvestri? why not Rick Butler? who is rating Silvestri? Buscema drew sexy stuff. The best ever series , EVER, was Savage Sword of Conan, inked by Alcala. That stuff was like etchings from the past. AMAZING. simple Black and white. Conan was just brilliantly adapted. The movies can never work with Conan. as its about his thinking. THOUGHT BUBBLES. That surly glare? Buscema is next level. Who remembers Silvestri? Did he do X-men or something? I know fans love X-men . Obsessed by Wolverine.

I loved x-men 205, the lone wolverine story in the snow. later expanded as weapon x. the colouring was great. i tried to get a copy of MONSTER online. to read. but it was a Spanish copy? I had all the old issues? but sold them all . Wish i had kept them. as the prices sky rocketed? i used to have 5000 plus silver age issues. now i have ten naff ones. I had every Conan issue, and collected Neal Adams. all those are now out of range in prices. The FILMS caused a massive STOCK rise? Oh well rapture is soon. It all depends on the drawing style. Buscema's style was more realistic...some of the more stylized cartoony faces will measure differently. I have the book and he draws the eyes smaller than modern comic artists. Those measurements aren't going to stick for every drawing. Typically though the measurement was ear to ear. Look up any head drawing tutorial and most likely it will be measured ear to ear. Interesting though.@@retrosuperheroart2202
