My dude...Prince called the reporter a plant, no Mike....lol. Also, context is needed here. During this press conference MJ was going through it with the tabloid media. Prince basically told them to lay off of Michael.
People think about Prince being serious and super cool. Well he was super cool but he was also very hilarious. He used to play pranks and put on silly voices and his laugh was just amazing … a real belly laugh! People who knew him and worked with him say that the thing they miss the most about him is his laugh 💜🥺
I love, love, love that you understand us Prince ride-or-die people now. Watching your Prince journey is so amazing, and to see you realize what he's all about, what he's capable of & how singularly unique he was, is so special. You're helping to keep his music & memory alive through your journey. Thank you!
Prince said "Michael is not a fighter. He's a lover." That's pointing to MJ+Paul McCartney's 80's hit "The girl is mine" where they compete/fight over a girl. And Michael says "Well you know, I'm a lover, not a fighter".
It was a commentary on MJ who was going through the charges of having sex with minors issues. It was a supportive statement; that we essentially don’t know all the facts and we should wait before judging MJ.
@@jjjones8609no, it was a few years earlier than that. It was around the time of the Sony battle where he was calling out the record labels for sabotage. Obviously Prince had been through the same kind of thing but for different reasons.
He was actually sticking up for MJ . This was when MJ was facing Child SA allegations . Prince was saying let's just wait cause you just don't know . MJ and Prince were actually very friendly . They were very competitive with each other but friends they were !
Definitely check out the Muppets Prince was on. Very family friendly, but definitely Prince. It was filmed when he was the Symbol, so there are several jokes about that. I mean, he singing and talking to Muppets. Hilarious.
I'm glad you were able to see and appreciate him in this light. The purple rain movie was loosely based on his life, so you can understand where he started. Also look up how many instruments he played! We all love and miss him.
💛 I love seeing younger gens discover Prince. Great reaction, some of the clips I hadn't seen in decades. Still made me laugh through the touch of sadness in losing him. Well done
prince was so beautiful inside and out, there will never ever be anyone to rival his genius,i will always love prince for giving us the most excellent music,
I seen Prince in Sacramento twice. Crazy CRAZY talented. In one the conerts at some point he made it a point to play every instrument on the stage....plus sing AND dance. A true entertainer.
Prince contacted the New Girl producers and said he loved the show and would love to appear on it!! Can you imagine knowing he was such a fan of your show he just had to participate? Love it.
Fun fact : the New Girl producers brought the Kardashians to guest star on the same episode and Prince said no. He wanted no part with them. They actually came and shot a scene at a party which was supposed to be a Prince Party. When Prince saw that, he asked for the script to be rewritten and the Kardashians cut off from the scene because he would never invite them to his party.
Truly, amazing in concert. He didn't have an opening act, and he played for 3 hours straight with no break! He had a corvette and a basketball court on the stage.
I don't think I know of many stars that have so much respect from musicians, actors, models etc they even had some night where all stars come together to pay respect n admiration for all he did most of us didn't see like charities etc
Prince made many faux pas early in his career but he was self aware enough to never make those mistakes again. His sense of humour and playfulness is something his close friends and associates always bring to the forefront. he became more comfortable in front of the camera as he grew in stature and begn to trust himself, he learned how to control and direct an interview just as well as he could lead a band and an audience.
He was a one of one for sure. My husband and I went to his first night at his O2 residency and immediately booked again. He was an awesome individual. 2016 was the killing fields for talent.
Prince didn't have any beef with Michael, he didn't like when people tried to pit them against each other. Prince was, though, a competitive person, so he would 100% stand up for himself and his skills etc.
There was a question posed once: "If you could go to any concert for any singer or band at any point in time, which one would you go to?" No hesitation, Prince. Any Prince concert. I highly recommend you find Dave Chapelle's bit about Prince and basketball. Seriously hilarious.
There is an old joke that Prince was short, wore high heels, lace, makeup, and could steal the woman of any man out there! I had the great fortune of meeting his and The Revolution back in the 80's. They were, collectively, the nicest people you could imagine. Prince had this thing at the time for Strawberry soda and I still have the empty bottle from that night. Their idea of "partying hard" was junk food and strawberry soda. They were all about the music. They were aware of their individual importance as a piece of the total but they worked so well together. Prince was charming, and funny, and a perfect gentleman. I was a teenager and it was awesome. One thing that didn't connect at the time but certainly does NOW is the amount of respect that he had for the talent in his band. He was not at all biased against women at a time when girl groups and female musicians were still fairly rare. He loved great talent and he didn't much care about the package it arrived to him in. Straight, gay, male, female. It just didn't matter. The talent mattered and he held that in the highest regard. I also, decades later, find it very interesting that there has never been any misconduct allegations against him. All of his surviving ex's attended his funeral and wrote touching tributes to him. When Denise Matthews (Vanity) was sick, he spent time with her. He did all he could to help her. He just that kind of person. A rare soul and a good person. The world is richer for him having passed our way. If anything, he was underhyped.
The joke at the end with the ping pong table and the New Girl episode was that he was a MASTER at Ping Pong and would even play basketball in HEELS and win. He was a BEAST

Reference to Prince and MJ they were actually cool with each other . They did have a competition but still friends like Kobe and Jordan. It's videos on RUclips where the actual people who hang around them both tell stories about them hanging out going to each other's concerts Lenny Kravitz tells a time when Prince called him and they both met up with Micheal
Prince was asking people to come up on stage and dance. Kim K got up there, refused to dance when Prince asked her, (she probably couldn't dance), so he kicked her off. Oddly enough Prince had no animosity against MJ, even though Prince declined Michael's offer for him to be in his BAD video. If you know the song, Michael says in the beginning "Your butt is mine" and Prince said hell no it ain't! 😂

Prince wearing and being on stages in heels was one of the things that lead to his use of painkillers. Jimmy Fallon has a weird story about playing pool with Prince. You should look it up.
Friends I’ll see you in Heaven like all my family and friends. Love you I’ll see you too and Want to give you a big kiss for all you did for us people while you were performing, thank you very much, Prince
'Those who play me, end up playing themselves', that wasn't arrogance, it was fact. Warner Brothers stole his name, so Prince, being a bit of a trickster, changed his name to a symbol... Most people thought he was a kook, but what he did there was a genius stroke of FU to Warners, he delivered all of his contracted albums to Warners under the symbol and Trademarked it, the result of which was that he had basically delivered dead product to Warners. This move meant Warners could never rerelease any of this material without being in breach of Trademark. He was basically saying, OK, you want to own my music but you don't own me and if you breach my trademark I will sue to the hills and back.
He wasn't saying Michael was a plant, but the guy asking who would win was. When Michael came out the women loved him "he's so sensitive" and the guys thought he was a little too sensitive if you get what I'm saying. This was during that time period, before his Superbowl, etc.
You should watch The Chappell Show. He tells a true story about meeting PRINCE,then playing basketball with him. So funny,so true. P.S. He cut his first album in the 1970s
"He's not a fighter, he's a lover" those are the words of MJ, is in the lyrics of "The Girl Is Mine": 'Ha, ha, Paul, I think I told you I'm a lover, not a fighter'. And you see it's true that Prince never said anything about MJ; although on a TV show the presenter asked Prince to respond with one word to what he said, so one of the answers to the question ‘Michael Jackson?’ was: ‘genius’. They are having fun here. Everyone who was around him or knew him in person knows and talks about how positive he was, always making jokes and funny comments. And every woman said how polite, respectful and charming he was. Prince always walked his own path and didn't care what others did or said. Prince said: "...and not be judged by the color of my skin, but the quality of my work." Since I grew up and left my teenage years behind and listened to more music and educated myself on music, I always thought Prince just knew where he was on the charts, where he was in the Olympo of creativity and how much respect he had from the artists he admired. Oh, he couldn't stand those kind of empty celebrities like the Carda-shit-ans.
I think that Prince was super shy growing up. But with a talent like that? You gain confidence in that part of celebrity where you have to deal with people and the media, you gain confidence. I've witnessed throughout the years how he's not only gained confidence but that his personality showed through to people. And even then, with the arrogance that people sometimes attributed to him, he's been humbled also with the tragedies that have occurred in his life as well. He was just a man that god gifted a talent that rarely happens. I'm always happy to see when people realize what a gift he was to the world. I'll always regret not seeing him live in concert. Oh, and he kicked Kim Kartrashian off the stage because she can't dance. She couldn't skate by her looks alone up on that stage with him, so he humbled her, lol. That Jay Leno comment about having him chained to a streetlight? Weird.
In comparison to most artists trying to make it in the 1980s, especially with MTV, Prince did many fewer interviews than others. His award speeches were very short, his interviews interesting, if ?awkward? (I say this as a massive Prince fan/fam). A compilation of his non-singing times on TV is rather tough to come by.
You’re correct young bro … Prince was everything!! And … There will never be another! P.S. Don’t believe the hype about him and Michael… They cared deeply about each other! 💜
Yes that’s his first wife and mother of the only child Prince ever fathered (they tried again, but tragically loss that baby in a miscarriage.) - Mayte’ Jannell Garcia. The Oprah Interview was unfortunately just days after Mayte’ and Prince’s son Amiir passed from a gene disorder that was eventually linked to Prince’s DNA after genetic testing was done after Amir’s passing. This is why he never fathered any more children IMO…after the trauma of losing two when married to Mayte’. After Prince passed, Mayte learned she was still listed as President of the charity she and Prince established in memory of their son. She runs it today and it’s doing phenomenal work for the communities, children and the environment . All things close to her and Prince’s hearts. It is called #Live4lovecharities and based in Minnesota, but active worldwide.
Such a Superstar. Dove's cry was the first record I ever bought at age 14. Only sad thing was he was in the Jehovah's Witness cult, which is why he never celebrated Birthdays.
But luckily didn’t stay in that cult. It’s almost like people are not aware he walked away from religion around 2008 or 2009. Doesn’t take much research to know he was not a practicing jw at the time of his passing.
there is only one problem with that line "a person that tries to PLAY me just plays themselves" and that is he got royally fucked over by his Album Company, which just means he as amazing as he was, he was also full of shit and didn't know it.

2:21 Me if I ever met Kirk Hammett😂 😂😂😂
If you want to see Prince really move on stage you need to watch his Darling Nikki video!
You should watch Eddie Murphy and Dave Chappele’s Prince sketch. It is the best! 😆😆😆❤️
Prince was also a king of Heterosexual peacocking. 😁
there is only one problem with that line "a person that tries to PLAY me just plays themselves" and that is he got royally fucked over by his Album Company, which just means he as amazing as he was, he was also full of shit and didn't know it.
