@ezbgames I still have 18 minutes left on the video but so far I am not hooked or lulled in. Don't get me wrong, this seems to be very interesting game with a lot of depth in gameplay and broad tactical and strategic decision making. It also seems like a game that very quickly could grind to a halt due to analysis overload. Will need to check out a playthrough to get a better impression on the gameplay and its flow. Edit: These tokens also kind of blend into the board, at least seen through the camera.
@@Biodelic You're absolutely right. I wish there were some tokens or even small minis to make things a bit clearer on t he map. You are correct. The game itself has a nice flow and we played 2 games back to back just because it was so fun. The first game took about 3 hours at 4 players and the 2nd was under 2 hours just because it's a quick game that just flows nicely. But yes, visually it's beautiful but also can be better.

Wow that was a good overview! The game doesn't appeal too much to me because of the theme (I prefer space or animal-themed games) and the design is a bit too "colorless" but it was really interesting to discover the gameplay since I had never heard of this game before

I'm really looking forward to your thoughts on Nemesis, since I'm considering buying it as well :) My top 5 games: I feel like I haven't played that many yet because I finally convinced my husband to start playing after years and years of him being intimidated. So we haven't tried everything that sounds interesting yet. But so far (in no particular order): Terraforming Mars, Castles of Burgundy (special Edition), Earth, Ark Nova, and A Feast for Odin. The next one we're playing is Firefly, I received it recently and can't wait to test it! The next one I really want to find is Kanban EV

Next time I will go trekking in Switzerland we should have a board game session :) Last time I had a really good experience in Lac de Derborence.. beautiful area. After I finish with Dune War for Arrakis, I will try to dive into Nemesis. I'm not the biggest fan of Lacerda, but recently I hear so many good things about his games that I might try again some of them. I would say that just like 99% of the area control games, it will shine at the higher player counts. Usually I don't play arra control games with less than for people. The only excpetion (that I can think of right now) is Divide et Impera by Ludos Magnus Studio. That one I would definitely play even at 3 players since it is very good at all player counts
The mechanics are amazing but the setting and design/colors of the components made this difficult to play and get into. Im not much interested in eastern/asian fantasy and L5R has never attracted me. Add to that the difficulty of distinguishing the various colors, icons, cards etc and I passed this game on after a few plays.
I understand what you're saying. Personally I don't care so much for L5R etc. but this game is just too good to let go. Yes, I agree that the game is lacking in visual design, but for me it's pleasant to have a good game in a small box. But if tomorrow there would be an upgrade pack, I would get it haha
@@ezbgames Yea I did have a bit of hesitation about selling it but honestly its better it gets played with someone else than collect dust with me :) If this was released, same game and rules, but set in something like Game of Thrones or Warhammer old world I would be so in! With better colors and iconography of course :D It truly is an excellent game.
@@-Markus- I'm not so sure if you're just joking with me, so if you do I apologize in advance for the answer: Battle for Rokugan is basically a trimmed down version of Game of Thrones by FFG. GoT is a much longer game, but in its core, it has the same mechanism. So you might want to check it out.. If you were joking, then... joke's on me lol! 😅
@@ezbgames No joke mate, I love GoT but it rarely see the table due to its length! The reason I once bought Rokugan was because I heard it described as a quicker and easier GoT but as mentioned things just didnt click for me. If it had been set in a more familiar setting (such as GoT) and had for me better visual design it wouldve been a hit for me :) Now of course there is the upcoming "Tiny epic Game of Thrones" which honestly does seem like it captures a lot of the drama, but the brilliant order mechanics isnt present sadly. I want to make clear though that Rokugan is a very beautiful game, when I say I wish for "better" visuals, its a personal preference wanting a more familiar and more functional palette. Aside from that I sincerely appreciate the brilliance in Rokugan, so much deep gameplay from a very humble amount of components.

I'm pretty excited I managed to show you something new! And this game is really cool. I enjoyed it a lot..

I've always been interested in this game but I have my doubts of it's implementation at 2P which is most of my plays.
