    The man in the know! Nice one Jon, really useful vid. I’ve ordered one from JPN. This’ll be a game changer onsite and in the van. The coffee maker has been really great, but being able to do 3 cups at once is amazing.

      Mine just arrived now, all the way from J A Pan in 4 days. What a let down, I excitedly ripped open the box, binned the instructions, plugged in the batteries and gave it a boil….then realised we’ve ran out of tea and coffee! It boils water well though :)

    You’ve sold me, was gonna ask the wife to get me one for Christmas, but after watching this, I need one in my sooner, how long does it keep the water hot for do you know, thanks for the great review top man 👍🏻

    • @UKTOOLTALK
      @UKTOOLTALK  2 года назад

      Hi my friend thanks for reaching out!,it’s not brilliant at keeping the water hot after it’s been boiled to be honest, i filled the space between the plastic outer bit and the stainless inner bit with fixer foam to make it more insulated, if you get the chance check out my other video about the kettle after I altered it,if your on the xgt platform you can get a kettle on that platform now so you don’t need to run 2 battery’s,all I’m all is a great bit of kit, I use mine every day 🤟🤟

    Do you think you could get one boil from 2 3AH batteries ? or do i need to invest in some new batteries ?

    • @UKTOOLTALK
      @UKTOOLTALK  2 года назад

      Oh hi Cody thanks for reaching out, great question my friend I’d say yes you could get one boil but I can’t test it for you because I’m afraid I haven’t got any 3ah battery’s, haven’t had any for years, sounds a bit silly but depending where you are ie what is the air temperature and water temp out of your tap really affects the boil, say your in Alaska or some place cold and your tap temp is 5 degrees and where your working is freezing it will really hammer your battery’s, what I have done it fire fixa foam in between the outer plastic casing and the inner stainless steel and fill the kettle in the morning with hot water from the tap and then when I boil it 3 hours later it takes less energy, so maybe if the water you fill the kettle isn’t really cold and you don’t have the kettle in a really cold situation I’d say yes 2 3ah battery’s would do do a boil but maybe don’t fill it to the top, also are they new battery’s? This could be a factor as well since they do loose there potential over a lot of charges,hope this has been some help and if you have anymore questions please let me know 🤟🤟

    Thank you for this review, a question, if you boil 300ml of milk, for around 5 minutes, will it boil out?

    • @UKTOOLTALK
      @UKTOOLTALK  2 года назад +1

      Oh hi friend fantastic question I will have to try it and get back to you,I’m assuming by boiling out you mean bubble up like boiled milk does and then come over the top and make a mess?,is this right?,iv never tryd to boil milk in the kettle I’m excited to try it 🤟🤟

    • @umranbashir
      @umranbashir 2 года назад

      @Jons random reviews, random is rad! Rock on! yes that is correct. It's for my son who suffers from food intolerance, and this kettle could be a game changer for us. Appreciate it :)

    • @UKTOOLTALK
      @UKTOOLTALK  2 года назад +1

      Hi umran well I tryd it and it kinda worked but not really a good idea,if you got the milk to say 10 degrees under boiling point using a thermostat in the kettle and then turned it off it might work, I let it go right to boiling point and then it bubbled up over the top of the kettle and made a mess,it also left burned milk on the bottom of the kettle which was a right nightmare to get off!!!,might work better with water in the kettle and then another container ie stainless steel or toughen glass and then heat up the milk that way,I might try that when I get the kettle fixed!,iv over heated it and it needs some attention 🤟🤟

    • @umranbashir

      @Jons random reviews, random is rad! Rock on! apologies for that and thank you for experimenting. I think I may have to try powdered milk then. I will still buy this oneday as I think its pretty awesome. You rock.

    Hi Jon. Did you get hit with duty in the end? I’ve just had a FedEx bill for £51.40. Plus the £159.46 it cost me from the seller in J A Pan, that’s and expensive cup of tea..
    Must remember that RUclips, eBay and Malbec mixed together leaves a bitter aftertaste in the morning! haha

    • @UKTOOLTALK
      @UKTOOLTALK  3 года назад

      Yes I got a similar bill from fedex,maybe should have waited a month and got it in the uk,sometimes it’s not easy to find out when makita releases stuff in the uk,oh well hope you like your new kettle anyway mine it still in the workshop being modified,it’s not going well at the moment! Iv nearly set fire to it trying to convert it to xgt battery’s!!!!!

    Still today on amazon!, £180 - £220 quid 🤦🏻‍♂️
    But if your a must have sort of person 😃
    Anyway!, is it possible to convert that kettle into a 240v inverter?
    That’s what I’m thinking 🤔

    • @UKTOOLTALK
      @UKTOOLTALK  2 года назад +1

      Oh hi Alan great question , do you mean a step down inverter 240v ac to 36v dc?, if so I think it’s possible you’ve got me thinking now!,it would have to be quite a big inverter to handle the 1000 watts needed for kettle, also since iv converted my kettle into a xgt batttery kettle (hope you’ve seen that video) from my stand point I’d just need a broken xgt batttery which I could take the insides out of it to rig up the cables from the inverter, iv installed a change over switch in my kettle to go from lxt through the circuit boards to xgt straight to the element so instead of using the change over switch to work with the xgt battery connector I guess you could have a plug in type connector for the inverter, it would be awesome to be able to plug this kettle in to a normal household socket , hope this has made some sense my friend, let me know what you think!, in the meantime I’m going to try and build one fog my kettle, cheers sir 🤟🤟

      Hi 👋🏼
      I was thinking!, turn the 36v into a 240v
      With the amps that’s kicking out!, should make the life of a EDECOA 3000w Pro Power Inverter 24v to 240v
      Nice an easy 🤔😃🫡

    • @UKTOOLTALK
      @UKTOOLTALK  2 года назад

      My heads fry’d! I’m only a humble plumber I’m afraid, this inverter can convert 240 ac to 24v ac for the kettle ?, how expensive is this unit and how big is it and will 24v be enough to boil the kettle efficiently 🤪

    • @UKTOOLTALK
      @UKTOOLTALK  2 года назад

      Mmmm if it went from 240 ac to 36v dc would it need to be a rectifier? 🤔

      Actually I have to say it seems not so efficient. It eats 6ah batteries. So you either have to be rich and have loads of 6ah batteries or near a charging point which kind of defeats the object.

    • @UKTOOLTALK
      @UKTOOLTALK  3 года назад +2

      Yes I see your point sir,I’ll rephrase and say it’s more efficient than I thought it would be kinda 😉

    The Makita DCM 500 is smaller ,cheaper and work's on AC (outlet) and on DC (battery)
    I use it on AC daily, and I absolutely love it!
    On battery they are slow ,to slow,way to slow.
    but on AC it is super fast.like,
    I am in a hurry ,need coffe now mode.

      Oh hi Erik sounds like a good bit of kit, iv never seen a dcm 500!,don’t know where you live sir but you can’t buy one of these anymore in the uk,it looks like you can still import one from Japan but it’s expensive!, what is the ac voltage ? 110 or 240? That’s a great feature!!!, I had a dcm 501 for a while which of course didn’t have the ac adhaptor and yes it was slow I agree!,hope you can make time to check out my video about this machine and what I did to it,also check out my other video about how I changed my makita 36v kettle if you fancy it, personally I prefer my 36v kettle over the dcm 501, it’s quicker and I don’t really like filter coffee,I prefer freeze dried granulated coffee, oooo I have a sensitive tummy!!!!,many thanks for you comment you get a star 🌟 and a 🤟 and 2 👊🏻👊🏻

      Yes your 100% right my friend,it can’t be good for the battery’s to get discharged that quick!!,and they get very hot as well!!,maybe makita should stick to making power tools 🤔,my coffee machine is getting retired as soon as I get my makita 36v kettle project finished,I’m converting it to run on 1 40v xgt battery instead of 2 18v lxt battery’s! Watch this space dude! 🤟🤟
