So thankful for these guys, they sent me on a mission to find the breach in my house. I literally did every exclusion possible, far superior than anyone I could hire where I live. The problem continued for years. First I thought a broken vent pipe and so many other issues. All were incorrect but I sure did a lot of work on this old house. Sometimes to complete exhaustion. I had new windows installed when I first moved in 12 years ago, at the same time they built a stand alone office against the exit of the garage/basement door. Checked all the windows everything was fine until one day I took the ladder & and was looking at the ceiling where I hear jumping at night. I see near the window, light shining through the office window from the ceiling of the office. I noticed that fact a couple times before. Yesterday after making my New Year's resolution that I would find the breach I decided to crawl all the way over the ceiling and to the window, I had my mom's sewing ruler from the fifties in hand and I put the heavy thin metal yardstick up to the sunlight and decided to fish around. What I caught was a 3/4" gap all the way across the entire window. Oopsies, they forgot to finish the window. There was no way to get to the window to fully repair it so I went outside and saw the yardstick protruding all the way out the window. Shocking. I found it after years. From the outside you could not see the breach just some missing caulk but inside you could really see the problem.
They seemed to come in during the winter more so than summer. I took Rapid Set adhesive caulk and a new door sweep out to the window. I put the Rapid Set caulk (great stuff, btw) at the top of the window. Measured the door sweep, just a little too long. Sawed the sweep slapped it over caulk and held it there. I was doing insulation work with neighbor today. Tonight I went into the basement/garage around 3 am and the first time ever no rat jumping. They were using my house as an Air b n b eating the garbage all over the block and staying in my house to keep warm. I attribute my find to these two guys, relentless, detailed, true professionals. I can't believe, a huge sigh of relief. The fear I have of my house burning down is real. I need electricians, probably foundation experts, possibly plumbers. It was hell, don't give up if you love your home,. How many of us really have access to the caliber of these pros. Very few. I'm 65 with some health issues & if I can do it so can you. It was total luck I figured this out. Watch your contractors I think I was feeding them too well and they got fat dumb & happy, also careless. The stress was horrifying, I never dealt with this in my life. Good luck. Fortunate we had really warm weather the past week after brutal cold.

Hi Twins, just wanna say thanks for all the work you do, your videos, information, everything. Growing up, I heard mice, but never saw them in my house until the past year. I was scared of them tbh, but watching your videos and Shawn Woods for traps made me more knowledgeable about what bait to try, sealing off entry points, cleaning up food. They still annoy and freak me out at times. But I have caught at least 4 mice this year including 2 today, so I am doing something right. Hopefully, I keep bringing them down to the point of being gone eventually. But I wanna say thanks again. Def adds to peace of mind🙏

I felt the same way when i got my rat problem. I am a vegetarian for moral reasons(veganism is hard), which put me in a tight spot whenever they wouldn't die immediately. I didn't want them to go back into my house, nor did i want to drop it off somewhere else where they could invade someone else's home. So i did what had to be done.

One thing I learned the hard way is that you must use the correct size snap traps for whatever rodent you are after. I caught a chipmunk in one of my mouse traps, for example. I don't know how long it had been there, but it wasn't dead yet. I had to put it out of its misery with a brick.

Ok, this is turning into a bit of a binge session. Fascinating stuff. I love how you 2 are always thinking ahead, and verifying the exclusion process is complete before moving to the next bit. It seems like that would be paramount on jobs like this. I don't know if this would help you, but one tool that was a total game changer for me is a SeekShot thermal camera. They're amazing. I can't help but watch these videos and think how much guesswork (which you guys seem to work through quickly regardless) and crawling in tight spots could be eliminated or mitigated by using one. Not to mention, it's yet another service you can offer while re-insulating homes etc. We saved one of our customers millions in December by being able to visually winterize fuel gas lines, scrubbers, and pumps. $400-$500 and it will change the way you operate. No more guessing or running around with a temp gun and grease pen for me to create the same thing the camera shows you in plain black and white (or ROYGBIV). I'm telling you... it's worth the expense. I almost want to give you mine so you can see what I mean lol. Total. Game. Changer. Keep it up guys.

Love you guys videos and I wish I got along with my twin 1/12 as well as you guys get along! You guys are super upbeat and informative. That pipe lining is amazing. I really appreciate how you even have sympathy for the rats. With that in mind, you might consider using live traps so you don’t risk maiming any you then need to kill by hand or take to the vet. I honestly can’t stand to kill them so I keep having to fix the holes they chew through my wood barn siding. At least they aren’t trying to get in my house since they’re after our goats grain! There’s also a super high tech trap made in Australia called the good nature A24 thats very humane. It uses a little CO2 bolt gun that cleanly kills every single one and it can kill multiple rats in a row. I ordered one online but haven’t had the heart to use it yet. If they get in my house I will have to.

Good info, thanks a ton! Love the rat dance 💃
I've caught 5 so far, missed one last night. Closing up the entry points as I find them, but still missing some. How many rats are there likely to be in one building? I suspect they've been here for a while, this building's a 130 years old and has hollow walls. If they have been here for a while they have stayed very well hidden, their entry points just started showing up a couple of weeks ago, and I spotted one around the same time. I've read that if you see one it means you have a bad infestation, is that always true? They smell terrible, I know I would've noticed that before, so I feel like this is a new thing. It's been tricky. at least one of them knows how to get the bait from the traps without getting caught in them, and now it doesn't seem like they're going to the traps at all. Also,my dogs don't seem to be able to smell them all the time, which is very weird, because they are beagle lab mixes and can smell a field mouse two feet underground in a rainstorm, but these things will run right past them and they won't know where to go. Are these some kind of superhero rats or something? Any advice you could give is amazing and greatly appreciated! 💜

I will call my coworker and with both of us using hands free bluetooth headsets it's like we're right next to each other. I love RF radios. I'm a ham radio operator. But they have their place. And under a house like that, isn't really it. Try using hands free headsets to communicate and coordinate with your coworker across a property. It works wonderfully.

I love what y’all do and at the end of the day people don’t want rats in their homes making them sick and destroying everything. On the other end it’s also a life just trying to eat and sleep who doesn’t know better than to destroy homes. Never makes me happy to see y’all sucking up rats with a vacuum but I watch it anyway to see how I can prevent anything like this, though I never had a rodent or bug issue nice to see things I may have missed.
