    The 'horse collar' shell magazine on the 37mm cannon on the bow is upside down. Those guns were taken out of P-39 Air Cobra aircraft.

    AWESOME looking boat - and the size and craftsmanship are the reason for the high price !!!

    Would love to see on in 1/16 scale to match the LCM3.

      That would make it 5ft long like 1-1/4 foot wide. It’d be a monster

    It only has one problem. That problem is that the price is $659.00 way too high for an RC boat of that size. Also it would be very nice to have it in the same 1/16 scale in order to match the LCM3.

      The other side of that coin, is the build quality. I have inherited a hugely abused, bashed about one with endless broken parts inside and out. A bit of TLC, and super-glue, and it is water-tight and running great. You get what you pay for! Full marks to Bancroft.

    This late war boat should have a camouflage paint scheme and no PT number on the hull.

    • @troyjanise9051
      @troyjanise9051 Год назад

      You're right. It's is a late war boat with all that armament. The 40mm Bofors on the stern and the 37mm on the bow(with the upside-down 'horse collar' magazine) and the rocket launchers ahead of the torpedoes on port and starboard. They should have used the roll off torpedo racks from the beginning instead of the tubes. The radar also shows it being a 'newer' boat. The 80' Elco PTs have always been my favorite.

      @@troyjanise9051 , I think the 37MM was put in upside down. I think I see a few other errors but overall not too bad a kit. I scratch built the same type late war PT, 67” long, 50 lbs., powered by a Zenoah gas engine turning 3 props.

      They were painted forest green by their crews once on site. Helped to blend with the island backdrop.

      PT109 had two color schemes. One was a pattern like this

    • @troyjanise9051
      @troyjanise9051 Год назад

      @Mary Hausler I'm fairly sure the paint they used in the South Pacific was olive drab, the regular military green. Some were also camouflaged with other colors too.

    Is that a 1940’s era American flag on the stern? It better be for $760+.

    • @davidgardner863

      Nope. That’s a 50 star flag, should be 48 stars and flying from the mast, not the stern.

    I will never understand why people always add the PT on these boats when they model them? During the war you never saw the letters PT on them. Only time you saw the letters PT on a PT Boat was on McHale's Navy on TV. And the Torpedoes on late war boats were not painted white as you see on the model they stand out like sore thumbs, and negate the camouflage green of the boat. The bodies would be a dark steel color. That white would had let the enemy see the boat coming a mile away.
