The mezzanine should have display items from the previous emporium. Or an art walk like you'd find in some cafes and restaurants. Maybe Brienne takes up art and uses the gallery to sell her work.

"Lady's" would make a great name for the restaurant I think :)
Also for the mezzanine, a gallery wall featuring photos of bigwallet family members (or those with direct ties to the emporium), perhaps with an item beneath based on what they used the emporium for could be cool! Keeps a little bit of the history and if you come back to renovate this again there'll be more memories of those sims to rediscover :D

    • @meridellwriter
      @meridellwriter Год назад +19

I feel like it might be closer to 300, but probably somewhere in that ballpark. My logic: According to my paternal grandfather's exhaustive genealogical research, I am the 11th generation of my direct paternal family to live on American soil (dad's mom's family goes back even a couple of generations further). Eighth-Great-Grandpa Joshua was born in 1698 (he moved to Newport, Rhode Island in 1729, and Seventh-Great-Grandpa Benjamin was born there). Considering that it is now 2022, this means that Joshua would be 324 years old today. He would have been 309 when I graduated from high school. Addison and Breanne are the 11th generation of Bigwallets, so if we assume their generations follow approximately the same timeline, that would put Lady in that same ballpark. Allowing for the fact that some of them may have had children at older ages than my real-life ancestors, 360 is not unreasonable, however.

Café’s often have pooltables, arcade games or something to entertain the guests. Maybe you can do something like that upstairs. If that doesn’t throw off the game play too much. Or have an art gallery upstairs to honor the original family function of the factory.

You could move all the planters to the mezzanine level and have that as the produce-growing area. Then on the ground floor, where you currently have the planters, you could add decorative/commerative Bigwallet display items or custom content photos of the Bigwallet Emporium in all its iterations.
I think it's going to be a pain trying to 'garden' in the middle of the restaurant with everything so spread out the way it is now.

I had such a really cool idea, I don't know how it is in Australia, but in the US we have a lot of farm-to-table restaurants, I think behind the glass wall, a little indoor farm with planters full of vegetables herbs and fruits, would be beautiful in this build and also be very practical by allowing your Sims to use everything they grow for restaurant inventory. Because there's no coffee roasting equipment in The Sims 4, I think it would have been amazing to make this industrial factory restaurant farm-to-table, by creating it, you could show people or have it be a feature in this huge industrial factory restaurant. You could put a bunch of planter's behind the glass wall, or delete the floor and expose the dirt underneath and just plant right into the ground. I think it would be an incredible showstopper, because everybody thinks to be a farm-to-table restaurant, you need to have a restaurant in a huge open field with access to vegetables and animals and a lot of acres. When this industrial factory build could show that you can create a farm-to-table environment just by creating a mini indoor farm. If you don't do this idea I'm definitely going to try it out...If you link this factory for download. because as much as I love the whole coffee idea, the one thing I hate in my game personally, is putting things in a house or build that doesn't use any gameplay. It's just taking up GPU on my computer and overcrowding the space when I'm not using it. I'd rather delete the whole room and make the factory smaller, or create a usable space like a farm, otherwise it doesn't make sense to have it. Because you're never going to look at it, you're never going to go in there, your sim is never going to go in there.. it just makes for a good screenshot nothing else. I have been watching you for years and I love all of your builds.

I would love for the mezzanine level to be Brienne’s, most likely for a business of hers. I think it would only be fair that she benefited too from the place since her fathers put all their economies in this project. It could be turned into a catwalk, a place with mannequins set by Brienne (we could imagine it is to promote her Trendi) or a “ haute couture “ workshop where she can knit and craft. It could also be turned into a photo studio where she could model in her creation for her sibling to photograph (since all the moschino in their bedroom). Or it could maybe be a haircut/makeup/style salon, where she would exerce the skills she used on her sibling (and give some help to the poor NPCs) . I also saw someone ( szykospawn Auriga) mentioning that she could take art and use it as an art gallery. So overall, I’d think having the mezzanine as Brienne space of expression would be nice, it could even be all of the ideas at once !!! (couture workshop with photography spot, catwalk and mannequins and a place to save the NPCs)

Love this build and reno. To fill the empty space in the mezzanine, you could put a small bar (for show, the patrons won't use it), a DJ Booth, and then make the rest a lounge style seating area. Again, patrons wouldn't autonomously use them (if you don't put coffee tables) but at least it would fill out the space. Add some stairs from the outside so you don't have to disrupt your floorplan downstairs.

that view from the ground makes me really really want to be able to paint ceilings. really cool that the inside of that roof has the same texture, it's so much more immersive

This is so satisfying to watch! Seeing it transform throughout the years is just so fun! Something I noticed is that on one side of the building the windows are on the "in" of all the pop outs, and on the other side they are on the "outs" of the pop outs. I can't remember if that was done on purpose originally or not!

This is my new favourite build of yours ever! I think the mezzanine should be either a 'thrift shop' that sells Brianne's fashion designs or a little jazz club that opens after the restaurant is closed. Just something small and intimate like a bar, few couches and a corner for live music since Addy likes to play the guitar, perhaps he likes to support local bands/artists? Could even have the stairs on the outside, so there's a separate entrance to the club.

I've been to restaurants where the mezzanine opens up for dancing after a certain time, after 10ish. So you'd have dining guests downstairs till 10, after that only cocktails and bites would be served and upstairs is dancing. It was real cool because this way the music was more muted downstairs so you could still converse over drinks ^^

I know I'm three months late to this - but regarding the tin roof with holes - I saw a renovated garden shed restaurant once, that had stripped off the old tin, then laid it back on, but with the clear plastic tin underneath -- I think they did it for heritage renovation get-around... but it looked really cool!

I think 'Emporium' would be a good name for the restaurant. A hat tip to the buildings past, but also makes the restaurant sound a bit upmarket!

The mezzanine should be just a garden space where you can put planters as they are gathering their own produce and it’s big enough for several

I'm not usually a fan of industrial style, but this build is BRILLIANT!! Great job James! The 👑 has been officially earned. Can't wait for the Let's Play series!
Just a thought, If there is any, displaying the founder's original art work or photography in the dining area with current artwork in the same medium created by sis or their wife (to be) - for sale - upstairs!
Entice the customers with atmosphere while they eat, leading them to want to mingle up top (and shop) after dinner. Maybe be only a dinner club for a whole evening event. Maybe even add a bar without separate tables but with a live piano player/ violinist upstairs to bring the ambiance all together. Draw them up. All toward further expanding and enriching the "Big Wallet's brand." (Of course, all this After the fail, when some experience, maturity and wisdom has been gained. LoL) You'd probably need to increase number of Sims allowed on a lot and maybe need a cash register placed either near the bar upstairs or the host's podium near front door?
I don't know, maybe all the Sims just leave the venue after they eat on a restaurant lot. Or maybe this idea would mess with the flow of new customers coming in. Or any other of Sim glitches....But a fun fantasy if the Sims 4 and Creative Carl's mod allows it! 💃

maybe the mezzanine could have an area that "sells" coffee? like you wouldn't actually have to sell the coffee but you could have a barista station up there and little cozy cafe chairs and tables for people to sit and read. maybe some decorative magazine racks or magazine displays on the tables? I think that would look nice and tie in with the "bean roasting" room haha it was so nice to see this build again! what a hit of nostalgia! ❤
