"Healthy Pregnancy" project: Brief overview

"Healthy Pregnancy" is an international cooperation project carried out by EHAS Foundation and TulaSalud with the support of the Health Directorates of Alta Verapaz and San Marcos, departments of Guatemala where it operates. "Healthy Pregnancy" has been offering since 2014 prenatal quality controls to women in the most isolated and under-resourced rural areas with the support of AECID, MIF-IDB, USAID and UPM. The innovation of the project resides in a backpack carried by the public health personnel who visit rural communities, carrying a portable kit of Prenatal Care with ultrasound test and a blood and urine test strip system, thus helping to reduce the high rates of maternal mortality and of these regions.
