Fun stumbling upon this video 3 months later. I am the author of this integration, I'm glad so many people got to enjoy it before it was made significantly harder to use in 2025.1 due to the pay per use pricing coming in February.
cool. I need a simple automation - if the garage door is opened and the car is parked there, start Sentry mode and lights. How much I would pay for this?
@RapManCZ 0.1 cent for every time you turn on sentry, and 0.2 cents every time you want to check if your vehicle is in the garage. Tesla gives you $10 a month credit, so it could be free.
Sure! I wll add that to my list in October (I have a ton of product videos to finish in Sept). It is pretty easy to do using the custom "cards" on the wear version of the HA app.
Really nice video! The automation to open garage when unplugged is brilliant! Any chance you’re going to make the video on how to setup being able to control the Tesla? I’ve been struggling with it for a couple weeks
I’ve set up my garage door to open automatically when my Model 3 arrives in front of it. However, I’ve noticed a delay before the car’s geolocation detects that I’m home. Have you experienced a similar issue with a delay in detecting your car’s location when you arrive home?
Great video. I love your automations. I have a model 3. I personally use the Tessie app, yes it costs a subscription fee, but it’s so simple to integrate with HA and allows control of the car too, as well as provides the same sensors as the Fleet API. I have some lovelace cards set up to expose all the charging stats. But now I’ll try adapting some of your automations.
Great video. 🎉 I would like to control the current by which my tesla is loading. This would allow me to efficiently use my solar panels energy. Would appreciate a video on how we can control load current regulation.
Actions don't work. I can see all of the entities, but any time I try to trigger an action, I get a error of one type or another. They are all enabled, but don't work.
Thank you for this video. If I'm currently running the Tesla Custom integration, is there any advantage in using this new Tesla Fleet integration since it's read only? Love the automation ideas with your Tesla and Home Assistant. Please keep them coming.
No, it is just the easy way. I have both running at the same time. I am really hoping that the custom integration can use the authentication from the built in one.
great video, but it looks like Tesla changed its API policy so to create / fix the connection you now need to host a public key. do you have any plans to share the new setup with us?
great video mate, if you can post a video of the custom integration, that would be fantastic. Looking for ideas to control the charge rate based on excess solar generation.
I integrated Tesla Fleet on my HA, but all the sensors and diagnostics are showing "Unknown". I've linked it to my Model 3. I've reloaded non stop for the last 1 hour, still all unknown.
I use the tesla API and Tessie because I had it first. I have a custom Tesla dashboard that can put all the data from the car in one place. Also the house, cameras and automations right from the cars browser.
@ThisSmartHouse Hi. Setting up command signing has no setup videos on RUclips. I plan to use it for charging commands to start stop and adjust cjarge current. Command signing Certain vehicles, including all vehicles manufactured since late 2023, require vehicle commands to be signed with a private key. All actions on vehicle entities will fail with an error if this is required and the key has not been added to the vehicle. You will need to use Tesla’s command line tools to generate a key pair and install the public key on your vehicle using Bluetooth.
i have no idea why i watched this video since i don't have a tesla and i don't want a tesla. if my numbers ever come up (hopefully tomorrow) i'll probably go for an EQS.
@@ThisSmartHouse2025.1 has a major breaking change due to upcoming pay per use change on February 1st. Basically everyone has to set up their own developer applications now. I also wouldn't call it official, Tesla is not directly involved at all.
"Official" meaning it is built into Home Assistant. It looks like it is breaking change that effects even older versions of Home Assistant. You can thank Tesla for changing their API. However, the good news is that the custom integration still works. As soon as I am home from CES, I will get that video done.
Another vote for a video on the custom integration. Is love to be able to control the charge rate.

Thanks for your work on this! I didn't realize they are changing their API model. That is a real shame.

@BrettAdams are they looking to bring the control features into the main Tesla integration in Home Assistant?
Hi, I have the custom integration and it works perfectly. Please do a video on how to setup and android watch to control for instance the trunc.

@@ThisSmartHouse When does the Custom Integration video drop!?

Great video. Just got my Tesla and have a Shelly on the garage. Worked perfectly.
Awesome! It is great to have your garage auto-open!

Yeah, if I had solar I would totally set up to charge when I have excess solar. I will try and cover that in my next Tesla video!
I am stuck at the step adding the integration. It ask for Oauth client id and password. How do I get that?
so am i, seems like my account linking has been rejected

Read the document, there are extra steps required for newer vehicles to get commands working.
As @BrettAdams said, you need to do extra steps to "command" the Tesla.

Working on a video using the "Custom" Tesla Integration. My "standard" Tesla fleet version isn't working for me, but the custom one is still working.
great video mate, if you can post a video of the custom integration, that would be fantastic. Looking for ideas to control the charge rate based on excess solar generation.
That is a really good usage of it. I don't have solar, but I am sure I can give you some ideas.
Great video can you possibly share the code for the notification bridge script.

Did you restart home assistant? I found that fixes the issue most of the time.
@@ThisSmartHouse 1 day later, the sensors are working .Thanks :)

I love having a short cut to my Home Assistant dashboard. I use it all the time when a light gets left on or something.
Please a video of controlling the tesla
The Custom Tesla Integration? It is on the list! I was hoping that they would simplify the process since the new integration is here.
@@ThisSmartHouse I'm also rooting for that. It's crazy complex
Yea it’s crazy confusing. I haven’t been able to understand the documentation
So there still isn't a free way to control the Tesla through ha?
There is, the other project i mentioned. But it takes a bit to set up.
I would like the ratdgo video as well, myQ situation really made me angry.
Buy the Ratgdo. It is well worth it!
Does not work. Commands sent fail
Which commands?

Yes, that requires the "Custom Tesla Integration". Which I am working on a video for. The built-in one only supports pulling data, not "writing".
I think read only is good enough for security reasons...

Well I appricate that you watched it. Hopefully other vendors will allow full API access to their cars. It adds a lot of value!
It doesn't work anymore

It is a terrible intergration and you missed the most import setup step that has no detailed explanation on how to complete. @ThisSmartHouse
