Huckleberry Mountain Lookout in Glacier National Park

- This less traveled trail on the west side of Glacier is a favorite for those who like some solitude and great views. From the lookout you can see the peaks of Logan Pass to the east, the Swan Mountain Range and the Flathead Valley to the south, the North Fork of the Flathead and the Flathead National Forest to the west, and the Livingston Range and up to Canada to the north. As of 2024, ticketed entry does not impact access to this trail - all you need is a parks pass and NO TICKET. Our trek ended up at about 12 miles and 2,800 feet of elevation gain. Bugs can be an issue in the first few miles but we used repellent and it was not an issue for us. Only saw about a dozen other people the entire hike! This trail has a large amount of huckleberry bushes that produce abundantly in season. For that reason bears frequent this area.

A bit of a quad burner 😆 in Glacier's mountainous trail system and plentiful vistas throughout this trek. Grandeur awaits at the top ⛰👍

Oh my goodness, it was sooo hot here yesterday (day of the hike). I'm sure it was cooler up there, but phew, good for you. This hike is on our list (we're locals).
Its been a cool summer until recently. I’d be fine if it never got above 60 degrees. 😂. It’s a great hike - enjoy it. Montana cheers!
The heat was a factor for sure. Between the 2 of us we drank 5 liters of liquid 😳😆 There is some cover on this hike from the trees especially the last 2 miles and we were thankful for that. Would definitely recommend this hike, on a clear day for views especially if you can 👍⛰ Thank you very much!

Thank you! We have a much better idea now of what to expect on this one.
Kimberly doesn't have her extra hat tacked on to the back of her pack.
