Better perspective with the people in the shot, just beautiful with light coming through the rocks and the churning colors of the ocean in the sunlight.
I'm going back a few years but the dubbing reminded me of old Johnny Morris and his show animal magic. keep it up luv it. Scenery has looked awesome too. Wonderful shots Gavin
I like the people being in the shot. It gives it some scale and the bit of yellow is interesting without being a distraction. Thanks for sharing your experience. Will you host this workshop again nest spring?
That bird was the Simonus d'Entremontus, known for having wings, feathers, and a beak. Great sea arch shot, but you should have waited until a wave washed away the people,... or you could just Photoshop them out. You mentioned the toikets in House Hardcastle. If they dont have bidet functionality, you shoukd consider it. It's a game changer, a whole new lifestyle. Canadian government may not let you have the diesel-powered models, but regular water pressure should do nicely. Thanks for the video! Got my weekly fix of tresmendous photogasms.
The puffin conversation was the best. No wait, the light ray coming through the wave was the best. No wait, the rugged coastline, well you get the point. This was a great video. I liked the Sony framing of the rugged coastline and how the water was running through the bottom corner of the frame.
I'm all in favor of a RUclips channel from Gord Follet! I'm glad the Puffins had arrived by the time you were there, and you actually had some greenery in your shots. Everything was still pretty brown and I found no Puffins in early April. I'm hoping to go back in May or perhaps early June next year. Newfoundland is amazing!
I spent several years shooting things with a 4x5 view camera and mostly b&w film. When I finally put down the 4x5 I swore I was never again going to make another picture without people in it. Shooting scenes got incredibly boring for me. So, I'd say leave the person in wide view of the god rays. It increases the interest dramatically.
Southern Labrador is also worthwhile place to visit in this province, when visiting this area, the province in July and August be prepared to meet the Labrador Air Force. The locals jokingly the blackfly swarms they go in your ears, your nose and everywhere, even sometimes fall into your coffee cup, covering the top of your coffee cup with black flies., would make for a funny video, You’ll need to take the ferry from St, Barb Newfoundland to go to labrador, bake apple festival takes place in August.
I really like how the channel has morphed over the past year or so. Still silly like we like it and a bit more learning and concentrating on the location and its beauty. Great work Gavin. Such a beautiful place.
Reminded me of Johnny Morris on Animal magic when you were anthropomorphising the puffins and gulls. Not seagulls 😅. Glad to say you were a helluva lot funnier. Keep up the shenanigans. 😅😅
Gavin that 16 minutes was packed full of epic scenery. Superb photo (leave the people in the shot. Gives a nice perspective of scale). Loved the voice over with the Puffins, it was hilarious. Those cabins looked brilliant. Nice one mate 👌
I would keep them in the picture. The yellow rain jacket contrasts nicely with the scene and the people give the image scale. Lovely Osprey. It isn't often you get a vantage point above the nest.
Crazy landscape! Laughed tears at the Puffin voiceover 😂 Quick question: I know the song used for most of this video (The Village Welcoming), but there is a second song (7:24 and 12:30-13:00) - what song is that?
Fantastic voice over of the birds, please do some more animal voice overs 😂😂 . Definitely leave the photographers in, they give scale ..brilliant video but wouldn’t expect anything less 👍
I would remove the people unless you really need them for scale which, in that shot, I don't think you do. Personally, I generally will remove any people or man made objects from my photos unless they are an integral part of it. Beautiful images as usual though and listening in on the puffins and gulls conversations was a hoot. Did you use a directional microphone for that?
With people in the photo, it's more of a story being told and it gives perspective to the size of the arch. Without them it's more of a pure landscape photo. So I guess it's what you want to convey.
Anxious to receive your second book, stories within stories. Does it have QR codes like Thomas Heaton's book? Lol just kidding hopefully you laugh and don't block me from your channel. The bird dubbing was pretty good!
Excellent voice-over on the wildlife 🤣. Looks like an Osprey to me on the stack. Interesting to see you using f20 on the long shot of the rocks in the distance, presumably so you can get the foreground sharp as well, but I thought you guys preferred focus stacking instead of using a high aperture? Looking forward to getting your book delivered at some stage 👍
You both make our day. We don't watch tv much at all anymore, even those commercials are unreal. We still often take showers in water/soap, wasn't that as designed already so many years ago now?...No all body stick deodorants for us, pretty gross. And the explanation on where to use it. Dinner -time. Really? Is anything real? Who comes up with this stuff?🤢😄 I agree with the posts below about your editing technique Gavin. Was already laughing pretty good and then the shot of the Puffin jumping so hard to land on the next, very close rock. I must name him Mike too.... Perfection. You both are a real treasure to keep track of. A laugh along with fantastic photography, it always just works! All the very best to you both. Mike & Kathy~🤝 ~Very looking forward to our second best book in history....knucklehead~😛
It definitely is God Country .... get it ⚡ If we could have heard the bird in the nest talking, like the Puffin and the Seagulls, I would be able to make a better choice, but I think it could be a Punk Sea Hawk 🦅. WOW, some beautiful Seascapes ❤👍
Btw a good challenge if you ever get the chance goose up your shutter speed to 3200-4000 Shoot wide open ap and auto ISO and get one of those puffins speeding by at 50kts. In post bring back the shadows on the puffins. Brilliant photo if you nail one in flight with open wings.
The panoramic shots of the arch and the beams of light are sensational, though I'd say 1 person in the frame is better than 2. I didn't see one without people in it. The way the foreground rocks are lit in that first pano is just great, and the beam hits the person; couldn't be better timed. Oh, and the animal voice-overs were hilarious.
I like the people and tripods in the shot. I like tripods. It does make me wonder what can be seen from there. In today's world, it takes no more effort to remove them, than to paint and click. OR add people to the shot where needed! Who doesn't love Puffins? Great vid.
Tell Gord, he knows he already has one fan here and I sure would follow his RUclips videos. I really like Gords’ photographs. Some of his photographs look so simple but they are anything but. Now I found another interesting videographer to follow……you. I like the audio part of your video. …You’re a wonder.. but I really like your photography… before you get too excited bye, I’m an old woman of 86 who has somehow maintained the curiosity bug.Even though I can’t do the things that I used to love to do anymore… I love to find people like you to follow and explore my own country and others close up and personal. I’ve been to all the places you have today many times and I spent a lot of time on Change Islands and my father was born in Bonnavista And I’ve explored a lot of it in car and on foot.Wish I were young enough to…. If wishes were horses.I am not…. But as long as I have people like you that I can follow and vicariously enjoy every second of their adventures I’ll be happy..
Hahah that voice over for the birds was gas!! 😂 The sky really turned on the lights for ya in that last shot. Really wonderful 👍 I am just as useless with my bird knowledge as I am with ownership of images etc so I won't mention either 😅😂 Cheers 👍
I do love it when you do the dubbing for the birds Gav! It's hilarious! 🤣🤣 By the way, as I'm sure you've been told multiple times by now, it's an Osprey. 😊😊
Great fun watching this one. Met Gord for a day of instruction a few years ago. Great photographer and nice guy. I've often said this will be the next Iceland with photographers flocking here for the icebergs (when the come), rocky cliffs, and great scenery.
Honestly, I'm a "F*ck people" kind of person. But, that kind of works for me. It's different. I like the first Pic with only one person. But, I also say edit it and see if it's any good.
Kind of off topic but your intro wardrobe choice is great. Those are your colours and T-shirt neckline is perfect. Hair is nice, all in all the best I’ve seen your look ever. Shouldn’t matter but in video….it does lol. You can delete this if you like but just sayin’

Looking forward to it! Don't forget to have Amanda sign ours too 👌🤝
I want Amandas signature too. And Unicorn Stickers 😀
Sad to see that you're on a downward trajectory. Hopefully you will bounce back with your third book! 💪
I have attempted to order it twice, but it isn't letting me. I saw a PayPal option, but it wont let me go into, or use it? HELP ME SUPPORT YOU! ;-)
@@Myles995 That's odd. Please contact me through here www.fototripper.com/contact-us/ and I'll search the cart for your email to see what's going on.

That sequence with the talking animals was awesome! I’ve always loved talking animals!! 😂
Eat your heart out Johnny Morris, one for the UK older viewers ;-)
Proud of you for featuring our wild and crazy land. It’s beautiful and it once was Canada’s best kept secret. Gorgeous videos
Great video. I especially loved the talking Puffins!!!!🤣 Really enjoying your segments on Newfoundland.
Great video as normal, as for the shot, always without people for me!
I'd keep the people in the shot. They add scale and a personal connection 👍
I like the people being in the shot. It gives it some scale and the bit of yellow is interesting without being a distraction. Thanks for sharing your experience. Will you host this workshop again nest spring?
I'm undecided...
Wahahaha! The bird voices are brilliant! 😂😂😂
That bird was the Simonus d'Entremontus, known for having wings, feathers, and a beak.

Gavin -- love the puffin comedy routine! Who knew that puffins were so cheeky! Looking forward to receiving your new book.
Thanks!
Thanks Jeff.
Keep the people in. It provides scale to the pics.
Osprey, for sure. A beautiful specimen!
I like the new adventure music
Great choice of
music by the way!
looks like some epic landscape/seascape, that would be an Osprey :) Love the puffins
Photoshop them out, too beautiful to have people take away from it IMHO
Bruh. That photo at 14:40 looks like it was painted for a fantasy setting. What the HECK.
Gordon needs his own show! Come on Gordon

Spectacular. The shots were incredible. By the way, that thing in the nest was a bird.
Yup, Osprey it is
Nice 👍

Most of my music comes courtesy of Epidemic Sound

Great Video! Have you seen the recent update to Adobe's Term of Service?
No. Tell me more...
osprey
I am pretty sure that bird's name is "Gavin's CommentBait"
100%
An Osprey. They’ll also use plastics in their nest building, whereas eagles will not.
It’s an osprey.
It’s an Osprey ( in french: Balbuzard pêcheur)

I haven’t laugh so hard in a while!!!😂😂😂
@@montanaylago "You don't kiss me enough." That was right up there with the inch worm lost on the kit bag!
I have to agree!
Better than a Johnny Morris (Animal Magic)! Lol 😂

Fantastic microphone you have got - picking up that puffin conversation effortlessly. 😂
I'm a puffin, after I've been on me treadmill.
You should start voice over services as a side gig. That conversation was marvellous.
When I saw the shot with the two photographers and light ray through the arch - I literally said "Wow".
The puffin commentary cracked me up. You could make a live action nature movie with commentary, and it would be a hit. *BURRRRRRRRRRRP*
The Burps were great. Where were the farts?

Leave them in. Gives good scale and I like the yellow jacket👍
People ok, camera gear not so good, tricky edit that one but I’m sure you can try it out!
The bird an Osprey..love the landscape
As a landscape photographer myself I can confirm, that is a bird on that rock.
Gavin that 16 minutes was packed full of epic scenery. Superb photo (leave the people in the shot. Gives a nice perspective of scale). Loved the voice over with the Puffins, it was hilarious. Those cabins looked brilliant. Nice one mate 👌
Osprey, we get a couple taking fish from our complex everyday. They are truly dumb though, we have a NO FISHING SIGN!, DUMB..!
The choice of music was absolutely spot on for this video, Gavin. Nice work!
The old masters of landscape painting knew what they were doing and always included figures in their landscapes.
I would keep them in the picture. The yellow rain jacket contrasts nicely with the scene and the people give the image scale.
Lovely Osprey. It isn't often you get a vantage point above the nest.
You and Amanda are a pair to draw to. Thanks for being yourselves, sans preaching about technique. Good stories, well told..
Crazy landscape! Laughed tears at the Puffin voiceover 😂

That’s a Osprey juvenile on the nest Gavin fantastic shots as per usual. Well done.
He’s burping, I‘m liking!
When Gavin read that sign "Beware of cliff" I was expecting an annoying character named Cliff to jump out of the woods.
It’s called puffin’ rock for the out of breath photogs that make it up there…
With people in the photo, it's more of a story being told and it gives perspective to the size of the arch. Without them it's more of a pure landscape photo. So I guess it's what you want to convey.

photoshop them out and replace with a 10 foot tall puffin. AI will make it realistic surely

No, it was just to stop down so that it wasn't so bright.
I loved the puffin & seagull conversations. Didn’t realise they speak English.
Weirdly, with a Yorkshire accent, too.
Would of been extra hilarious with newfie accents 🤣
Spirit of Johnny Morris lives on! (Animal Magic)
Man the light and that arch were just sublime. I think your cohost must come to Ireland to kiss the Blarney stone and improve his speaking skills.😂
Wonderful landscapes as usual- the bird is an Osprey.
Wow! Some gorgeous shots. Loads of texture and magic light. Loved your bird voices and laughed out loud. Thank you!
