- Setting up recording even a simple 15-minute clip is a daunting task when you suffer from "tinkeritis" - that is, I cannot leave stuff alone. I always gotta tinker with it!
This brief tale will attempt to demonstrate my (bizarre) process of simply trying to record a short film... and how I probably am making things a lot more difficult on myself than I should.
As always, thank you for watching, Liking and Subscribing ❣

Thank you for running through your setup, it’s great to see and hear the choices/decisions made and your reasoning.
I haven’t delved into this world yet, I have an ES-9 that I multitrack in but that’s about it, and sometimes I record on my iPhone but just for myself or friends. I had never seen that little tascam box, it’s got great reviews and looks like quite a gem at that price point!
Maybe I'm not a careful enough listener, but I didn't notice a change in your voice when you switched from the Shure mic to the Rode mic. Pretty seamless!
My leet editing skeelz! Heh the Rode NT1 was a bit "brighter" is all. I did adjust the clip gain levels in the track before printing, at least as close as I could get it.
As I process the modular output with effects in-the-box I plug the outs I need into seperate inputs of my 18-channel mixer, so that the DAW can pick them up one by one and I can dial in what I like on each of them.
Thank you for sharing your workflow, I am always working on better video but do think the audio is most important. You clearly got them both worked out.
Thanks, Rayder! I have dabbled with multi-tracking modular as well. It's in an upcoming How I Do when I get some time. For that, I take 8 mono out of Modular to 8 mono inputs on the Mackie and do the same; all DSP in the box (Pro Tools/Logic Pro). 99% of my modular creations so far though have just been Sonic Experiments for this channel. When I start making "intentional music" with modular, I'll definitely be multi-tracking so I have more control over the mix. Thanks for watching!
For me the reasoning is simpler: I just do not have the money and space to buy effects modules lol.
Interesting video as always. My setup for recording videos is super easy. Output is recorded via a 4ms WAV Recorder. 🎉
Right. When I use the TASCAM (vs DAW) Modular recordings, even with VO, are indeed super easy. I just like to over-complicate my life :) Gives me an excuse to not do anything.
@@VisionsMusicGroup in January I did live streams every day, and I tried a bunch of things, made my life way too complicated as well. Lol. Live streaming I really just need two computers and it all goes easy again.
@@JeffHopkinsMusic Nice. I do not livestream at all (well, twice) and I too use 2 computers usually. The beast machine for OBS and the iMac for the DAW/audio mix into ATEM Mini then to OBS. I started wondering if I should just stream everything and stop worrying about editing or monologues 😁 but, you know, I do love the sound of my own voice apparently.
