The PB meat is simmilar to Tilapia (they're from the same family Cichilidae). In Brazil, a pb of this size usually is cooked in deep fried oil. We take out the guts, cut from the upper back down to the belly in sizes of about 2 inches. Salt and pepper, then wheat flour-> egg->flour again...and then fry it. We make fillet from the bigger ones or we grill it entirely on charcoal grill(of course, w/o guts) after some ours in a seasoned sauce (olive oil, lemon, parsley and chive, salt, black pepper).
here in Brasil Peacock Bass (TUCUNARE) is very appreciated. We usually coock it inside a banana leave than buried under in the ground under embers. Very Good
Only salt and pepper when you cook something. Oregano will leave a bitter taste when cooked. You can marinate the fish with olive oil and oregano . Much better option.
The reason it tastes like tilapia I believe is because peacock bass are not actually in the bass family but are in the chiclid family and I'm pretty sure tilapia are part of that too.
Instead of cutting the fillets into nuggets, you should just season the whole fillet with your choice of seasoning and cook the fillet whole, it keeps the meat more tender and most and you don't have to keep flipping lots of pieces, just cook it 3-4 mins one side, flip it once and cook it another 3-4 minuets and it's done
If you want to get those burnt rings cleaned off your stove take some wet fine grit 600 or 800 sandpaper and you can buff them off. I keep a sandpaper sponge for keeping my stove like new. It’ll cook hotter and more evenly. Thanks for the video!
I hope it tastes much better than chicken. Thanks for posting. Try filleting from the back along the bones to get a better yield. The meat next to the spine is the best.
I think every fish tastes good but just depends where you caught it and how you cook it. We bbq'd some carp one time and it was super bloody for some reason. My uncle dried them for jerky and it was pretty bomb
Please do choupic/bowfin just do your research though. Clean them while still alive or the meat will become ruined and I recommend frying them. My favorite fish to eat
the website you linked states that they have to be larger than 17 inches to legally be kept, otherwise theyre illegal, your first catch was legal size.
hey dude if u want almost no blood on your meat you should make a hole in the fish with the knife as soon as you catch him beacause than the heart is still working so all of the blood will come out
if you do carp, I'd suggest a carp no bigger than 6lb as after that they just get really fatty and it's not worth it, also keep it alive in clean water for a day or two to wash out the muddy flavour of the stuff it's been eating
By the way, it is perfectly legal to take one peacock bass that is over 17 inches long as long as any other fish you keep is not over 17 inches. Either way, I'm all about catch and release and let them swim free to become beasts in the future 😎
U soak wild hog meat in milk cuz it takes out some of the gamey flavor of the meat. Of course it depends on how long u soak it but that definitely helps take some of that swampish flavor out.
Great vid. I do hate how soke people complain about how fish tastes or smells fishy?? It's fish what do u expect that's like being surprised chicken smells like chicken
J, is that a safe clean water to eat fish from? I think you can get a sample of the water and get it checked for pollutants. Just wondering at least the younger the fish the less chance of being contaminated.
Btw, great video, really enjoy your fishing videos, specially now that I've gotten into fishing, I've actually learned a lot by watching your vids. Keep up the great work!
a giant snapping turtle was messing with my sunfish bait and a HUGE 8 pound BASS took it. kinda the same thing that happened with the huge peacock bass
NSB Fishing not trying to be rude but why so concerned on if he eats large mouth bass or not? I understand catch and release and how it benefits the fish but nothing wrong with someone going out and catching a few fish for supper. Just my opinion on the issue
I understand why people eat bass, but I don't necessarily support it. It's a sport fish unlike bream, catfish, etc. (BTW these fish taste way better than bass from what I have heard, but I guess I wouldn't know since I have never eaten bass lol.) I feel like more people enjoy the experience of actually catching bass because it is much more of a challenge than catfish or bream. It's kind of weird but I have a soft spot for seeing bass get killed unlike other fish. Every once in a blue moon I will accidentally kill a bass because I hooked them bad and they bleed out, and it actually makes me feel awful. I just don't like the idea of eating bass, don't see why people don't just eat the tastier fish.
I'll just start by saying I appreciate the mature reply. When I bass fish it's mostly just for the excitement of setting hook and fighting the fish, but I'll keep a few every now and then to eat. Personally I'd rather eat a fish or animal I harvested myself from fishing or hunting just cause I know it lived in wild instead of in a farm house or in a fishery somewhere. I just hate seeing someone catch or kill any animal and waste the meat gives everyone who enjoys the sport a bad name.
The regulation said you can catch up to two of them and one could be longer than 17'' no? So then you could have kept the first one right? Or would you rather just under?

Here in Guyana it is highly desired fish by locals. A pan fish size Peacock cost $5.00US

I caught 300lbs of seaweed one time. I think it was a world record
Grass bass
Well the regs states 1 over 17'
2 Butterfly peacock bass, only one of which may be 17 inches or longer in total length.
You could have used the over 17 inches because it says on the website one of which can be over 17 inches
WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN? LIKE WTF DOES IT MATTER HOW BIG IT IS? ITS A FISH IT COULD BE EATEN EVEN IF ITS 30 INCHES
INTERNATIONALNEWYORKMEXICAN bigger fish reproduce more eggs
@@TheEASTSIDECHICANO it means that he gave wrong information, you can keep one bass 17 in or longer. He is saying is illegal to keep.
Do carp like if u agree
WD Bassing - carp usually don't like it if you agree
Carp have a lot of bones and they taste terrible. Still would like to see his opinion though.
Fishing With Joseph thats actually a myth. A lot of people say that because they are invasive species
Ive eaten carp before its no myth. The ones I've eaten are nasty.

If you want to get those burnt rings cleaned off your stove take some wet fine grit 600 or 800 sandpaper and you can buff them off. I keep a sandpaper sponge for keeping my stove like new. It’ll cook hotter and more evenly. Thanks for the video!

Sketchy Bach rip its gills works best
Tip: If you don't finish the cut near the tail, separating the skin from the meat is much easier in my opinion.

Collin Foster Colin is my name foster is my brothers not kidding!
Is it clean to eat? I'm a little skeptical about eating fish out of ponds and canals.
Do another one on carp
if you do carp, I'd suggest a carp no bigger than 6lb as after that they just get really fatty and it's not worth it, also keep it alive in clean water for a day or two to wash out the muddy flavour of the stuff it's been eating
Grasscarp catch and cool
Cook
Grass carp doesn’t make a bad curry but It’s really not a bad fish to eat in my opinion
By the way, it is perfectly legal to take one peacock bass that is over 17 inches long as long as any other fish you keep is not over 17 inches. Either way, I'm all about catch and release and let them swim free to become beasts in the future 😎

Eat large mouth bass
That beat while u were fileting it was dope...can I get the instrumental?
Yeah you should totally do a carp I think it will be very interesting
Cool man, don't have peacock where I live. Now I wanna try them though!
The regulation said you can catch up to two of them and one could be longer than 17'' no? So then you could have kept the first one right? Or would you rather just under?
honestly i feel like you need to try to use the same seasoning everytime so you get a distinct difference
After the initial cut at the head turn your knife towards the spine and cut to the tail , great catches bro
Eel-Tailed Catfish is good. You should try that! They're AMAZING!
