  • Welcome to Gundam Battle Operation 2 on PC, the game where you not only get a blast from the past from the Universal Century of Gundam, but also from the graphics of the game. Also, the PS4 version is built different and actually plays good unlike this one, so it might be time to buy a PS4 if you want to play this game.
(also I spent half the game waiting to join a match so you don't have to)

I highly suggest people outhere to see the PS4 side of players, since the difference is null as even the aiming is based on the suits stats. Good content creators (actually the only ones I can think of) are Avenger1_GBO2, Flailthroughs, Amell, and MoonWolf (last 2 are more of a montages/clips, but I still suggest them.). Here are tips from someone that excruisively played PC ver but later got better:
Constantly swap through weapons, dont wait for cooldown or reload, that way you can output alot of damage.
If your suit got more than 1 meele (that isnt something like a cable or wip), you can switch between them to do alot of damage while ignoring mostly the cooldown.
Be aware of when to push and when to not, more times that I wish to admit I realized too late than Im all alone, especially as a Support.
CAPTURE POINT FIRST SECOND, never ignore them since easily the other team can cap them and hinder your ground.
Know what suits are meta, that way you can counter them rather easily.
and lastly, have good team composition, no more supports or raids than generals, normaly you can afford 1 raid/support and 4 generals, but if you have more than 3 of one type then you will have a damage penalty (dont recall where I seen it).

Very detailed advice. I've heard much better things about the PS4 side of the game, so a lot of what I found were Steam issues, especially the connectivity issues that plague the game. (Still isn't an excuse for Bamco to leave it unresolved on PC, but maybe they spent too much on that NFT game to afford better servers 💀)
Been reflecting back on this video and I think I might've lost myself too much in the memes to take the game seriously enough while trying to make it as funny as possible, which was my actual initial reaction to the entire game as a whole while playing it, so a lot of my judgements were clouded in memes. You've covered pretty much everything I'd say about overcoming the hurdle of the game's mechanics if I were to re-review the game at this point. Huge learning experience on my part and I intend to address this in the future as well. You most definitely earned the pin.

To be fair @@TheAniknight. It was for the better than you went that route, and yes I too hate Bamco for what they did with it, and even more now with GunEvo (god rest his soul), but cant really do much bout it.
Infact may aswell use the pin to warn those with lower-end PCs, since apparently my PC didnt like the game that much, and so it literally killed the AIO cooler (Somehow, I dont know how the hell it did it but somehow it killed the arleady used up thing) and had to reset the whole system up from, it almost did it again but I uninstalled it, and I swear it was magic how removing GBO2 from my PC made it 10 times better lol.
But yea, I just wished they made it a tid better overall, nowdays I dont longer get "low connectivity issues" pop ups, but the failed mm is forever a feature in this game.
      Thanks for the pin too*

@@lexmen1089 Damn, didn't know it got that bad to fry a cooler, so GBO2 must be running the CPU into the ground. Guess I feel a lot less bad giving Bamco some tough love in this case. And to top it off, the locked PC settings in tutorial that I mentioned made it impossible for some to even pass the tutorial on the game, mainly lower-end PC players who were too laggy to play + the connection issues (based on the Steam achievement I think 20% of players didn't even finish the tutorial, get 10 Mobile Suits or even finish 10 sorties due to all of this).
Just sad to see such the Gundam IP wasting away in the gaming industry to the point other mecha games are outdoing them badly (which isn't a high hurdle since the competition just needs to be optimized to surpass GBO2). Piloting a Gundam was the dream of many kids like myself and it's a huge shame not being able to do so without so many hurdles. Might even go as far as to say the best thing they've done with the franchise is definitely Gunpla which I got into recently. Solely because you don't need to optimize that for PC or console. 🤣
I'm definitely planning to address Gundam Evo sometime in the future once I've sorted my next review. Evo had its fair share of issues as well but it was in a much better state of optimization than GBO2 on PC, but I guess the competition was Overwatch 2, which gets far more players than it sometimes deserves and ends up being the gold standard for good ol' hero shooters. Still deserves a solid sendoff, when I have the time to.

@@TheAniknight and to think that OW2 lasted near the same time as GunEvo is too funny. Also I kinda exagerated with the optimization/pc issues since I did notice chalk on it so might aswell be the cooler being used for so long it finally gave up, or rather the game doing someth system wise that turnded the cooler off. Really unsure up to this day.

@@lexmen1089 Hard to say what really happened, but as long as new cooler works (label on the bottom removed ofc), nothing's shorted out, and you've reapplied thermal paste, reckon that should be fine going forward.🤔

You forgot to mention the battle simulator where you can get DP, parts, and even tokens if you managed to complete it in under 3 minutes

Definitely forgot to mention him entirely since I was focusing a bit too much on the main game. Have added it in pinned comment.

I mean this might just be my experience with the gameplay but it usually boils down to me getting hit with an insta stun weapon and then shanked while on the ground by three different guys and instantly dying.

Yeah, that was my exact experience joining in as a fresh player. The current playerbase is way too good at what they do and props to them for mastering the combat. It'd be nice to be able to fight back though. 🤣

Couple things I want to add that somehow escaped during writing the script. The main reason for the 6/10 score is for the connectivity issues which is just plain lazy at this point from good ol' Bamco, and there's really no good excuse not to optimize the PC servers. The combat in itself would've easily gotten an 8/10 with how excellent the combat is once you do master it (I did mention that it might sound like I'm bashing the combat, but I'm just bad at the game so it do end up with a lot of getting exploded), which I assume is the case on the PS4 release from what I hear.
Also, a very tiny PVE mode for the game with up to 2 other friends in the Battle Simulator (thanks mr.abrams for reminding me). To sum it up, three PVE missions, two skirmishes with AI enemies in space and the desert, and a single boss fight in space. Rewards are coins, money and a few custom parts if you beat them in 3 minutes. Not gonna lie, the boss fight did get me excited until it two-shot me with its drones.
Sadly, it's just three missions and once you get the rewards, I don’t see a lot of value running these unless you want to join the any% Speedrun leaderboard for each mission. Honestly wish there was more of these, and with a story to top it off, it could have been amazing. As I said, GBO2 is definitely a diamond in the rough with its wasted potential.
